Review: A girl that I was seeing at the time had to drag me to the cineplex to see this awful film..It was by far one of the stupidest things I've ever seen.To this day I will not watch anything with Adam Sandler in it...Well at least , the rest of the night was cool, hey sometime you have to take one for the 'team"......lol

Summary: A feel-good comedy featuring Sandler at his funniest
Review: While The Wedding Singer will probably always be my favorite Adam Sandler movie, The Waterboy is by far his funniest, and I think I actually enjoy this film more each time I watch it. It is the perfect answer for a bad day, as not only is it hilarious and uplifting, it lets you take out some of your own pent-up aggression with each powerful hit Bobby Boucher (Sandler) makes out on the football field. Bobby represents everyone who has ever been excluded, picked on, or ridiculed. While he is not an intellectual giant and does not possess what you call people skills, his kind and simple nature makes him a man among men even before he finds stardom on the gridiron. The boy certainly loves his mama, and Kathy Bates shines in her role as the overprotective, quirky, slightly touched in the head Helen Boucher. If anyone ever questioned Bates' ability to do comedy, this movie should banish all doubts. Fairuza Balk is strangely beguiling as Vicki Vallencourt, a "bad girl" who has long had an interest in Bobby over his mother's objections, and the two make a really strange yet somehow logical couple. Bobby's mother describes Vicki as "the devil," but of course she considers just about every person on the planet besides herself and Bobby to be "the devil."

Bobby's real passion in life is his job as waterboy for the local college football team, a real powerhouse coached by Coach Red Beaulieu (Jerry Reed). When he gets fired, he goes seeking water management employment at South Central Louisiana State University, a legendarily bad team coached by Coach Klein, a very un-Fonzie-like Henry Winkler. When Coach Klein convinces Bobby to defend himself against the taunts of team members, he finds himself looking at a natural-born linebacker. Mama does not want her son playing "foosball," but what Mama does not know won't hurt her (Bobby ingeniously blames all of the cuts and scrapes he acquires during the season on an escaped gorilla). He records a record-shattering sixteen quarterback sacks in his first game, drawing national attention from the real-life sportscasters of ESPN. A magical season unfolds at SCLSU, setting up a Bourbon Bowl meeting of the little college who could and mean old Coach Beaulieu's undefeated championship squad. At this point, certain complications arise, a secret history between Coaches Beaulieu and Klein is revealed, and SCLSU's dream season stands on the point of suddenly becoming a nightmare.

This is not a high-brow comedy, but there is nothing wrong with corny comedy as long as it is funny, and The Waterboy is, to repeat myself, hilarious. Football fans will definitely get a kick out of the way Bobby just destroys his opponents on the field, using several moves that you will not see in the NFL any time soon in the process (certainly not more than once). Perhaps overlooked in the midst of all the comedy is a more serious theme, however. This movie is a story of overcoming obstacles, believing in yourself, and redemption, not just for the ultimate underdog Bobby Boucher but for his mother, Coach Klein, and several other characters. You almost have to feel pumped up and happy in the end, and that counts for a lot in and of itself. Sometimes the good guys do come out on top, or so most of us like to believe in order to get through each day. The Waterboy helps us keep our faith and inspires us to rise above all of the bad things in life and concentrate on such simple yet important matters as family, friendship, love, and always doing your best.

Review: This comedy is about a 30 some year old man named Bobby, going from the loser water boy to star player on a college football team. Staring Adam Sandler, as Bobby the water boy gone star player. He joins football agents his mother's wishes, and when she finds out she acts sick to get him to quit. This comedy is great for Adam Sandler fans, comedy fans, and even football fans might like it.

Summary: Not one of Sandler's better movies
Review: Adam Sandler stars as Bobby Boucher (pronounced Booshay) who is a waterboy for a college football team in Louisiana but Coach Red (Jerry Reed) is fed up with the waterboy and he asks the assistant coach on why he didn't fire him, he tells Red that he didn't think that he was serious and later on Bobby winds up being the waterboy for a new football team and he tackles one of the football players for making fun of him and the coach (Henry Winkler) is impressed his Bobby's tackling abilities and Bobby ends up playing for the football team and there's a laugh-out-loud scene when Bobby tackles the teacher for making fun of his mama and the teacher looks alot like Colonel Sanders, later on we meet Bobby's new girlfriend Vicki Valencourt and Mama tells Bobby that she is the devil (the way she usually describes people cause her husband left her when she was pregnant with Bobby).

Overall I didn't think that the Waterboy was one of Adam Sandler's better movies cause his voice gets kind of annoying after a while but since I am a fan of Adam Sandler's work, I'm going to give this movie 3.5 stars instead of 3.

Review: Although rhe critics panned this film, I found it funny. Roger Ebert (his one star review is available ...) called Adam Sandler's voice like "nails on a chalkboard." It gets old after a while, but Adam Sandler creates an original character who is obsessed with water, and tackling people who make fun of him, or his "moma," played by Kathy Bates, who supplies generally large laughs because of her interesting cooking. If you are looking for a lighthearted film that will make you laugh, The Waterboy is it. Thank you for taking the time to read my review and feel free to leave me a helpful/not helpful feedback. Summary: Same-Ol' Lame-Ol' , Yet Successful None the Less
Review: If there's any shred of proof that there's no justice in this world-- and that the Saturday Night Live™ curse isn't touching the right people-- the fact that Adam Sandler has a phenomenally successful career as a movie star is it! Why couldn't HE have O.D.'d instead of John Belushi or Chris Farley? Why couldn't his significant other have shot him, instead of it happening to Phil Hartman? Still there must be somethin' about this guy, 'cuz his movies always seem to make big bucks despite the fact he plays pretty much the same character in every one of them, and they all have basically the same plot and the same stupid humor.

The Waterboy™ is the... um, watermark of Sandler-style comedies. Just like his other flicks, we've got the big star doing his hackneyed quasi-retarded boy-man schtick (which by the way is one of only three characters he's able to play-- the other two are the smart-aleck who always has a snappy rejoinder ready, and a combination of his signature boy-man & smart-aleck personas). His character ends up the triumphant hero in spite of all the kooky adversity that befalls him throughout the length of the flick. Throw in some really lame attempts at comedy, sad sight gags, and a few former headlining thespians whose stars are apparently fading fast and are eager to work on any project that gets thrown their way (Henry Winkler & Kathy Bates) no matter how pathetic it is, and you've got pretty much the same thing here that you saw in previous Adam Sandler flicks... 'cept different. Hey, who needs originality when the ol' tried-and-true formula is sure to make a mint again (which it did of course)? Heck, if I had the chance to invest a few shekels in this turkey, I'd've laid as much green down as I could, 'cuz the big payoff would've been a sure thing! Then I'd turn it around and invest it in the pursuit of a social life outside of the realm of Trekkies and comic-book geeks! But NO, that just isn't in the cards for me, is it?! Man, am I bitter...

Summary: The Waterboy
Review: ... This has to be one of my favorites from Sandler because it's a really funny movie plus there's a lot of football action and Sandler is hilarious in this movie.

Sandler is Bobby Boucher, a 31 year old still living with his mama waterboy. Boucher gets fired from the big league university he was waterboy for and is then forced to find a new waterboy position and he finds his way to SCLSU (South Central Louisiana State University) and the SCLSU Mud Dawgs football. As soon as he gets there, it's the same situation... the players are picking on him. His coach (Henry Winkler) then tells Bobby to fight back or they'll do it forever. So with his coach's advice, Bobby fights back and shows his teammates who's boss. Winkler being impressed with Bobby's tackling ability when he's mad uses that and makes him their new starting Linebacker.

Trutyhfully, Sandler stretched for this one because his character was unlike any of his orher characters. Sandler was funny in almost a DUmb and Dumber sense along with the on field comedy during the football games was also hilarious. I'd suggest this to anyone because it's a great movie for laughs and some good ole' football.

If you're looking for other roles where Sandler is more than just a regualr guy (like in Big Daddy), check out LITTLE NICKY because that one is also very funny and Sandler makes an acting stretch for that role as well. In any case, drink your Water and check out the Waterboy!

Review: This has got to be the worst adam sandler movie ever made. His accent, his mother, the whole thing, it just plain ... I'm a huge Sandler fan, but if you are looking for a laugh, watch the wedding singer or big daddy. Use this movie as a balance for a coffee table or something.

Adam Sandler is refried Jerry Lewis.
But instead of maudlin attempts at sickening sweetness to win over his audiences, Sandler just beats people up.
