Rating: Summary: What a WONDERFUL way to spend an evening! Review: I went to see this movie with diehard Looney Tunes fans and newbies, and a GREAT time was had by all! It was funny; it was fresh; it was an event! I loved the old "product placements"- I loved the old fashion, gut-busting laughs! I especially loved all the shenanigans happening in the background! DVD-owners will have to watch this several times to see all the hijinx! Not possible to catch all our old friends yukking it up in the background on the first viewing! This movie motivated me to go out and buy the Gold Collection- I can't believe how much I had forgotten about our old friends. Must buy!
Rating: Summary: The Looney Tunes are BACK!! Review: For anyone who has seen Space Jams, unless your age 16 or under, Looney Tunes: Back In Action is better, funnier, and more true to the spirit of our WB friends. There was, in my opinion, only one really good scene in Space Jams. The scene where Bugs and Daffy go to the real world. Looney Tunes took that great scene and ran with it. I've always said that these were great characters but they needed new material. Space Jams was, for the most part, just a rehash of all their old routines. Well, in Looney Tunes: Back In Action they finally got new bits and their great! I took my daughter to see Looney Tunes: BIA. She was not a fan of Bugs and the gang when we walk into the theater. She WAS when we left. She even went back a week later to see it again. I hope they keep writing new scripts and making new movies. If they do, I'll be there.
Rating: Summary: A Huge Dissapointment For Looney Tunes Fans Review: I've read other reviews on Amazon, oh pleasee this movie didnt deserve it. Compared to Space Jam (which is out 1996) , Looney Tunes Back in Action is nothing. I must admit that the movie animation technology is the best though. The human and cartoon character blended PERFECTLY. But The storyline and the acting is crap. Its only worth the for the animation . .
Rating: Summary: "Termite Terrace" with unlimited budget? Review: What might have happened if, back in the day, the heads at WB had let the cartoon dept make a full feature, with no restrictions? They could very well have come up with something like "Back In Action", lampooning everything imaginable, with an outlandish plot not unlike Marvin the Martian's attempts to blow up the Earth. Of course, technology of the time would have kept them from effectively blending humans in the cartoon world so seamlessly, so they would have made up new characters instead. Can you imagine what Steve Martin's villainous character would have been? Well... ya hafta employ humans somewhere these days... :) This was a heckuva movie, a major improvement on Space Jam, and maybe better than Roger Rabbit. Can't wait for the DVD!
Rating: Summary: They Did It! Review: Amazingly, "Looney Tunes - Back in Action" manages to capture the zany, "we'll-make-fun-of-ANYTHING" humor of the classic cartoons. It's got the wisecracks and the anarchy. There are setpieces (the chase through the Louvre is a classic), kidding of pc sensitivities (such as why Yosemite Sam's henchmen won't throw the dynamite out the window during a car chase through Las Vegas), a great jab at movie product placement (kudos to the company that let themselves be used for this!), jokes about classic horror films ("Them!" and "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" for two) and so on. The whole cast of toons is on hand, seamlessly combined with live actors (even the casting is a joke sometimes -- check out the Acme board of directors). Don't ask if the plot makes sense (it doesn't); just sit back and laugh.
Rating: Summary: Greatest movie Review: I thought looney tunes back in action was terrific. It atomatically rated five stars in my book. A must see for all brendon fraser and looney tune fans. Was infinitelly funny, with plenty of good humor and action to go around.
Rating: Summary: The Best Review: I saw this movie with a friend of mine two days after the movie's initial release and it is the greatest movie and i recomend it to all you looney tune fans out there. .
Rating: Summary: Why can't they leave this old cartoons alone! Review: Two stars for two reasons, One, I knew what they were trying to do, they wanted to take an animated cartoon characters, put them in real life and make it look like cartoons just walking around in real life. What they did not know that it was been tried a millon times before and has always looked bad. Another reason was bcause it was a hundred times better than the Matrix 3. Well, every movie is, so thats not a very good reason. This movie takes long dead cartoons and tries to bring them back with poor writing and cheesy animation. The plot is about Daffy Duck getting fired and becoming a super agent. Very, very pointless. I'm sure Warner Brothers could do better than this. Then again, they made that horrible Matrix 3 movie so this is a real improvement for them. Not worth your money.
Rating: Summary: Praying for a sequell Review: I just got to see this film 4 times... I got to!!! Steve Martin is great, the most of the jokes and parodies are very very funny... What else coul'd I say??? That's all folks!!!
Rating: Summary: A Hidden Gem at the Multiplex Review: I'm disappointed that more people didn't discover this wonderful movie. It's writer is a former writer of "The Simpsons" and this film is funny and sharp without ever being smutty or smarmy. I'm couldn't find the sexual innuendo/language referenced in the film's PG rating reason, though like most Looney Tunes adventures, it is rather violent for a kid's cartoon, but no more so than previous "G-rated" outings. The plot's basic premise is an excuse for Bugs and Daffy to be at each other's throats and yet needing each other, very much like real life brothers. Daffy's self-esteem has him put the head twins of Warner Brothers (played by the Stanton Brothers who were also in "Gremlins 2", another film by Joe Dante) and the humor-impaired VP of comedy (played by the not-so-humor-impaired Jenna Elfman of "Dharma and Greg") into a real bind; Fire Daffy or Fire Bugs. After pointing out to Daffy the demographics of everyone loves Bugs and that he only appeals to fat angry guys in basements, Daffy is tossed out on his tailfeathers. The guy doing the tossing is DJ Drake (played by the very funny Brendan Fraser) who wants to be a stuntman on his own terms, but is working at WB as a security guard. He botches the escort of Daffy, destroying the set of a Roger Corman "Batman" film while he is at it. Yes, a Roger Corman "Batman" film (if you don't get it, stop reading now.) Bugs realizes he needs Daffy and even starts feeling sympathetic for his ego, but Daffy will have none of it. He discovers that not only DJ's father is Damian Drake a famous film spy actor (played by the normally humor-impaired Timothy Dalton -- who apparently has learned to lighten up) but that he's really a spy on the trail of a large diamond, which of course will make Daffy rich. ;) That's just the first 20 minutes. One of the best gags is an all too short bit with the Coyote and Road Runner where the Coyote has taken to order ACME products on the world-wide web; complete with instant delivery and free gift-wrapping. Another one is a chase through paintings at the Louvre in Paris, which must be seen to be believed. There's even a tip of the hat to the Diet Pepsi/Halle Berry commercials. And a trip of Area 52 -- an area so secret and sensitive that Area 51 was invented to protect it. Pay close attention to the signs, and even more to the throwaway social satire "This is boxing -- bite his ear!" delivered nonchalantly. Even old gags get a new twist (including the famous rocket/out of gas bit.)
