Summary: It takes a certain outlook
Review: Reviews of this movie appear mixed. What the reviewers don't seem to recognize is that it takes a certain kind of outlook to appreciate this humor. If it were as broad as the latest slapstick from a Hollywood dream factory, it might be more widely accepted, but it simply wouldn't be as GOOD.That said, one important point I feel I need to make is that the depiction of depression and anti-depressants in this movie is almost TOO accurate. Anyone who's ever gone through the throes of chronic despair -- not just moodiness, but the actual disorder called depression -- knows where the characters in this movie are coming from. I don't know whether they intended to make a philosophical point or not, but one has to debate with herself or himself: would I risk being one of the five percent if it would get me off this morose jag? Fans of the Kids In the Hall TV series will appreciate the in-references peppered throughout this movie -- Mrs. Hurdicure, or the guy whose name escapes me who can't bring himself to admit he's gay. These references aren't overwhelming, however, so new viewers with no familiarity won't feel overwhelmed by what seems like in-jokes. Not for everyone, as I already said, since certain mindsets just won't appreciate it, but worth giving a shot. What can it hurt?

Summary: Kids In The Hall in their best, most screwed up humor yet
Review: Despite a critical lashing from critics everywhere, the Kids In The Hall still contain their randomized form of humor. The plot follows a wonder drug created by a reluctant scientist and his team. As a result of a seriously greedy corporation and it's CEO, the wonder drug is Gloominex, a drug that cures depression and will make you happy. It becomes a national phenomenon instantly changing lives for the better...or so they think? A backfire ensues with the drug affecting people mentally and the scientist in jeopardy. Definitely for the Kids In The Hall fan and the group plays over 30 characters. Particularly amusing sequences include Scott Thompson as a closeted husband in a dance number and Thompson as the old lady, Bruce McCulloch as a depressed rock singer and eye patch bearing hotshot, Kevin McDonald as the scientist. Film has all the qualities of the TV show with the random funny humor and the cast members as their various characters.

Review: I saw this movie for the first time before I had seen the show. I have to admit i was really creeped out. I watched some of the shows, and viewed this movie again, and it was like, ohh, I get it now. This movie has it's moments, and very funny ones I might add. So if you're a Kids in the Hall fan, this movie is a must for your collection, if you're just wanting to find out what the Kids are all about, watch the tv show first!

Review: i've seen this movie drunk, stoned and sober. and i love it in any condition. even if you don't know who kids in the hall are(i didn't)it's funny. my friends and i still quote the lullaby the cabbie sings. watch this movie

Summary: Anyone who didn't like this movie didn't get it...
Review: Unconditionally, Brain Candy is not only a wonderfully tangented exercise for the Kids in the Hall crew, but also serves as insightful commentary on the nature of corporate ethics and the rather unerving American craze over serotonin inhibitors, (i.e. Prozac and the like.) This effort does indeed stray from the skit-template we've all come to love from TKITH, but so be it...it's a film! Brain Candy is one of those movies where even the idiot's stomach pains from laughing, whereas individuals who live their life with their eyes open to the ways of Western commercialization and social patterns find a hard time gasping for air. Not only is it intelligent, it really is that funny. You're a fool not to check this out.

Summary: Letdown
Review: As a massive Kids in the Hall fan, I must admit that I found this movie to be a crushing disappointment. It isn't just that so few of the KITH characters from their wonderful TV show are missing (though this is one significant obstacle) but also that the premise of this movie (a very good one I might add) ultimately comes across as just a little half baked. There are some funny moments here, but those unfamiliar with the Kids' brand of sketch humor would do best to stick with videos of their television show.

Review: My god I love this movie. Constantly nagging my friends to rent it every time we go to video store...seen it about 11 times now...Oddly enough though, I know some long time KITH fans who did not enjoy the movie. Oh well. I loved it. "...well as on long as there aren't any flipper babies, eh?" "Well, actually, there were a few flipper babies."

Summary: The Kids InThe Hall have done it again!
Review: This is a MUST SEE for anyone with a sense of humor. You don't even have to be a KITH freak to enjoy it! It's a shame this movie isn't more well-known because it is a comedic masterpiece. Kevin Mcdonald's physical humor is at it's best, and he's so darn cute! Mark Mckinney dissapears into all of his characters and is the most amazing character actor I have ever seen. Scott Thompson is HILARIOUS as the gay husband in DUH-NIAL and is at his funniest! Bruce McCulloch plays Alice, the niave scientist in love with Dr. Chris Cooper (Kevin McDonald) who borders on pitiful but you can't help but LOVE her! (And might I add he looks GREAT as a woman!) And last but not least, Dave Foley plays a great YES man named Marv who'll do anything to keep his boss happy (Including making him *AHEM* GREAT coffee!!) This movie written by THE KIDS deserves every award it could possibly get...Filled with lines you'll be repeating for years to come and occasional appearances of much-loved characters from their TV show, BRAIN CANDY is a work of art. I wasn't sure if anything could live up to their TV show but they have truly out-done themselves with BRAIN CANDY. This is a MUST SEE for anyone and everyone!!

Summary: It's your happiest memory
Review: If you see one film this year make sure you want to see that film, and if you don't than this could also be a good choice. With more tag lines than austin powers it's a tragidy that more people have not seen this movie. It's one of those lost film jewels for me, which I have watched repeatedly ever time a friend comes over and wishes to be exposed to it's tender human conflicts and red socks.
