Summary: Stereotypes at their best
Review: In a day and age when politics absolutely shape our country, it's nice to see someone taking the time to point out all the idiosyncracies between the parties. Many people view this as a road movie, but you can't take it as that. If you look at it as a political farce, then you'll be thrilled. The road trip is a side-show within the comedy.

Jack Lemmon and James Garner are perfect as the republican and democrat (respectively) ex-presidents. Granted, the plot is far-fetched, but if you're looking for great jokes, this is a stop you'll be glad you made.

Summary: My Fellow Homo Sapiens Who Happen to Live in America
Review: Is this film good? Yeah, believe it or not, it's good. A 20th-Century commentary on American politics in the "Airplane!" style. Unfortunately also a product of corrupt liberal Hollywood, with its pro-illegal immigrant and pro-gay messages (though the gay stuff is sort of put into perspective with the "Dykes on Bikes" scene); also the subtle but obvious championing of the Democrats (Garner). The film does have its moments, however: many of them - and by this I mean genuine humor. Credit Lemmon and Garner - two classic actors of America's "golden" age of cinema and TV (note the final "speech" scene, for example); something totally absent in today's decadent, plastic trash culture. But the best part of the film, the centerpiece, is the scene with Jack Kehler and Connie Ray, two currently "unfashionable" and "archaic" traditional White Americans (the campers), that culminates with Ray's statement: "Please get out of our car". This statement is seminal, monumental. I think that this is what the entire film is really all about (maybe the liberals, though afraid to say it, realize the truth afterall - that America is dying). Perhaps it should be our "battle cry". ...

Summary: A very very funny movie
Review: Jack Lemmon and James Gardner are super. There is always something funny going on every minute or so. I have watched this DVD at least 5 times and never get bored with it. Buy it you won't be sorry. The picture quality is fine (no wide screen though) and Dolby 5.1 is quite good despite only one explosion scene and one car chase scene.

Summary: the funniest! completely original
Review: Jack Lemmon and James Garner play two ex-presidents, one Republican and one Democrat, each of whom served only one term and absolutley can't stand each other. They go out of their way to insult each other. However, they are soon dependent on each other for survival when it becomes obvious someone (but who?) is out to kill them both.

Thus starts a rather hilarious road trip as they try to get back to the world as they know it and figure out what is going on (they have been abandoned in the middle of the woods after their helicopter blows up.) On the way, they encounter all the people who make up their constituents. A very touching, terrible, all-too-real scene is when a woman reveals that her family lives in their car, after each presidents' economic policies forced her and her husband to lose their jobs and house.

But the movie is also funny, as they inadvertently start marching in a gay rights parade, when one of them had publicly denounced gays in his campaign. This delights the men dressed up as Dorothy from "The Wizard of Oz" to think they have turned around. Another scene is when they reveal that each has made up his own lyrics to "Hail to the Chief", and start singing them.

It's funny, and over-the-top, and definitely like nothing else you will see for years!!!

Summary: Good Comedy that should not be taken seriously
Review: James Garner and Jack Lemon provide us with a comedy that is like a presidential "Odd Couple".

Summary: Good Comedy
Review: James Garner, Lauren Bacall, and Jack Lemmon. Two rival politicians--Garner was former president and Lemmon is present-- are running for their lives to divulge evidence in a conspiracy. Personally, I enjoy the actors but the story was loose and dragged in cliche' in the middle. It's nice if you want a light comedy. I expect more caliber when these actors are involved. MIRROR HAS TWO FACES this is not.

Summary: Good but not the greatest movie for these stars
Review: Lots of good laughs in this movie. My entire family enjoyed it and we have wildly varied tastes. Yes, some of jokes are a bit of a reach, but the movie never lags and it actually maintains a certain amount of suspense in addition to the humor. It's just a good simple popcorn and family movie. Goes to show that high school sex comedies aren't the only source of humor.
