Rating: Summary: not bad Review: Sophia Loren is miscast in this movie, but I love Walter Matthau,Jack Lemmon, and of course Burgess Meredith is precious. The out-takes at the end of the movie are hysterical!
Rating: Summary: Grumpier than ever! Review: The classic duo returns again in this delightful sequel to the original. All the shenanigans are back again and in full force. You will be howling with laughter the whole way thru this movie. It is absolutely great and the quality is fantastic on DVD.
Rating: Summary: Good Movie, but give me the whole thing Review: The movie gets a 4. This is directed at WB for the cheesie way that they have presented their movies in the past. Instead of giving us a choice of widescreen or (the notorious) full screen format, (during the early days) they went with full screen format only (Universal also did this with a lot of their films, but they're redeeming themselves with special edition reissues, although "The Jerk", and "The Sting" haven't been reissued in wide screen format) on many of their big films (Spies Like Us, Funny Farm, Grumpy Old Men, True Stories (what's that all about? An indie type film in full screan?), etc.). Warner, puhleeze follow MCA's lead, and reissue these films in wide screen. I enjoy seeing the whole picture (Especially where Sophia Loren is concerned).
Rating: Summary: Grumpier and better Review: This film is one of the rare instances of the sequel being even better than the original...and I liked the original very much. Jack Lemmon exibits his beautiful dramatic ability (especially in the scene where "Pop" dies), and the comic genius of the pair is superb. Add the beautiful Sophia Loren and the hilarious out-takes, and you have a really fun picture to enjoy again and again.
Rating: Summary: Very Funny Review: This was a great movie! I couldnt stop laughing when i saw it i had to buy it. Its funny each and every time.
Rating: Summary: THIS WAS AN INCREDIBLE ! Review: This was one of the funniest movies I have ever sean. I LOVE the way they treat eachother!!
Rating: Summary: Why we miss Jack and Walter Review: Two old friends/rivals go at it again in this hilarious epic that was among the last works of the great Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon team. The appearance of siren Sophia Loren as love interest for grungy fisherman Matthau only adds to the humor. Full of priceless one-liners, including the timeless "bacon" monologue by Burgess Meredith, this is one to watch over and over. We miss ya guys, but you'll live forever in our hearts and on DVD.
Rating: Summary: ANOTHER GIGGLE A MINUTE! Review: What can I say? This movie takes off where the first left you. Max is married to Ann Margaret, Max's son and John's daughter are about to get married when all of a sudden a new character is introduced, none other then the lovely Sophia Loren. Ms. Loren can add nothing but pure class to any movie that she is part of. She has come to this 'cold country' to open an Italian eating place. The only problem is, her establishment is on the site of Max and John's favorite bait shop. Horrors upon horrors! That is when Max and John decide to stop Sophia in her tracks. Of course, you know love is in the air as John and Sophia can't fight the arrow of love between them. A twist is added as Grandpa and Sopia's mother seem to feel the bite of love as well. What a scene! Excellent! We do have 'grumpie' all right, but we also have giggles and love! Good mix! Again, as with the first movie, this one should not be missed. It is a great legacy to the players who have gone on to their eternal rewards, I am glad they left this behind!
