Review: I absoultley ADORE this movie! Steve Martin is hilarious and perfect for his part. New-comer,(at the time)Kimberly Williams was so precious and had the most perfect personality for the part! Fra`nk, played by Martin Short, gave the movie the little touch that it needed. Overall, this more gets my two thumbs WAY up!

Summary: An adorable movie
Review: I love this movie! It's so rare to find a comedy that's actually funny and touching at the same time. This movie can be a bit fake, so in order to enjoy it to the fullest, sit back, relax, and don't criticize it too much (i.e. don't keep saying "that could NEVER happen in real life!"- you'll spoil it). All in all, a very sweet movie that's sure to become a family classic.

Review: Father of the Bride is absolutely the best movie that I have ever seen. This movie is full of comedy and love. I believe that George Banks' behavior (played by Steve Martin) is so accurate when any father hears that his daughter is going to be married. Annie Banks (the daughter) is played wonderfully by Kimberly Williams. I definitely recommend this movie to everyone who wants to see an enchanting, family movie. END

The show about an over powered macho jerk husband who is obsessed about sports and wife is into culture like operas, symphonies, literature and classical music is like the same boring couple I seen on tv. Jim is compared to Al Bundy, Tim "the tool man Taylor" and Dan Connor. Cheryl is compared to Peg Bundy and Jill Taylor. Dana is compared to Kelly Bundy and Jackie Harris. Summary: Steve Martin at his best
Review: My mum loves these movies a lot more than me, so she should really be doing this review. But she's not, it's me. I don't think I quite love them as much as she does, but they're good for an afternoon, of switching your brain off, and not having to think. (And then you have to think afterwards if you switched your brain back on - oops!)

Featuring a very young and angelic Kieran Culkin, this movie is definitely family-orientated, and also features the excellent Martin Short - although you need the subtitles in order to understand him! He's the best thing about these movies, and has great comedic timing. (Look out also for Eugene Levy and also in the sequel - but in the latter, he plays a different character!) Most of the characters are a little too Brady Bunch but sometimes, but Martin Short's memorable role will have you laughing for hours afterwards. The (second) best thing about this movie is Steve Martin's portrayal of the worried father, who's stressing about money.

There's no extras on this DVD, as you'd expect from such an 'old' movie - yet we can have films from the 70s, 80s with extras on them.

This is a worthwhile DVD watching if you like this kinda thing - or your mum buys you it for Christmas but really wants it for herself. It's staying in my DVD case.

Summary: Something Old, Something New
Review: The 90's version of Father Of The Bride has its star Steve Martin continuing to carve out a career taking on more family oriented roles, building on the modest success of Parenthood from a few years before.

The film is a remake of 1950's Spencer Tracy / Elizabeth Taylor classic in which ordinary guy George Stanley Banks (Martin) has to deal with the fact that his daughter Annie (Kimberly Williams) is about to get married amd become Bryan McKenzie's (George Newbern) wife. Fortunately, taking on the planning, expense, and complications of the entire affair, keeps him busy enough and just short of a nerveous breakdown. His wife Nina (Diane Keaton) and wedding coordinator Franck (Martin Short) have plentry of suggestions on how to make things easier for George.

Director Charles Shyer makes it look easy, thanks to a perfect cast, that has a lot of on screen chemistry. Martin is a very convincing hapless Dad just trying come to grips with the fact his daughter is about to leave the nest. Williams just lights up the screen as Annie. The script is very heartwarming and funny---but in no way turns maudlin nor over the top. Short almost steals the film as the accented wedding coordinator.

It's somewhat disappointing that the only extra on the disc is the theatrical trailer---an audio commentary might have been interesting given the film's popularity.

I have yet to see the original Father Of The Bride...The remake is great family fun.

Review: My father first introduced this movie to me years ago and I still love it to this day. It's such a great humorous movie leaving you in good spirits. It has an excellent script and a fabulous cast. The sequel is just as good. This movie is a classic!!
