Summary: A riot by all accounts!
Review: This is one comedy team that really delivers a stellar performance that will have its audiences laughing until they see stars. The premise of three jilted ex-wives getting back at their scum-bag husbands is quite an example of amazing writing, and the casting of Bette Midler, Diane Keaton, and Goldie Hawn is nothing short of brilliant. The subtle comments, the actions taken by the women, and the results of their shenanigans tickle the hearts of everyone touched by this wonderful film. I hope that everyone will have the chance to watch this movie, and that they find that it is a funny as it is realistic.

Summary: Hawn Midler and Keaton shine in this terrific comedy
Review: The First Wive's Club is one of my very favorite movies, I have seen it roughly 15 times. I love the friendship theme that permeates through this movie. Other reviews rate it negatively unfairly. The situation in this movie plays itself out in America every day, the film becomes less about getting "revenge" and more about sisterhood, and charity, and bonding together. Midler Keaton and Hawn are three of the BEST and most TALENTED actresses we have in America today. All give stellar performances. Sarah Jessica Parker is also so fun to watch as one of the 2nd wives. The film is hilarious and enjoyable and I would highly recommend it.

Summary: A feminist rag
Review: Just another example of the GUY always being the villain. This poor excuse for a worn-out, unoriginal concept of the evil white male breaks no new ground. Women who end up in the situation that our main characters found themselves in probably made stupid choices in the selection of a mate to begin with. Anyone who feels that the main characters are heroes, I have some recommended reading: "Beauty Fades, Dumb is Forever" by Judge Judy Sheindlin.

Summary: Girls Talk
Review: The First Wives Club is a good-humored but vaguely sadistic revenge picture billed as a madcap empowerment seminar. But madcap and zany? No way. For years, actresses have been complaining that strong roles for women are limited--if not absent--in Hollywood. I couldn't agree more, but the dearth is by no means aided by the dumber than dumb rampage of Brenda, Elise, and Annie (Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn, and Diane Keaton).

If white men can't jump, white chicks can't dance, and try as it might to be hip and topical, The First Wives' Club instead becomes Waiting to Exhale for white, middle-aged, housefraus. And these three ain't shoopin' no-how. This movie's big-budget gets major mileage on small inspiration.

Summary: HUMOROUS
Review: This movie was entertaining and humorous. With the cast of stars there was no way this would be a boring or understated flick! Funny & enjoyable for everyone in the family.

Summary: Okay.....
Review: I thought this was going to be really stupid, and it certainly started out that way, but it got a lot better, and it soon had me laughing.

Summary: Great Cast, Weak Script
Review: It's hard to go wrong with the likes of Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn, and Diane Keeton; each actress is unique, and the trio play well with each other. Unfortunately, the material isn't what it should be-- and most of the belly laughs rely on the stars' on-going ability to turn lead into gold.
