Rating: Summary: truly funny comedy Review: I had heard many good things about this movie before seeing it...the many sold-out showtimes proved that so had many other people....we finally got in at a 10:15 showing and I was pleasantly surprised...usually when I watch a movie after 10, I slowly begin to drift, but this was not the case...the movie constantly had my attention and it kept me laughing...It was a light and enjoyable comedy, reminiscent of Kindergarten Cop in many ways...if you are in the mood for a light and funny comedy, I definitely recommend this one...there is some violence, but not as much as i thought there would be...it is extremely minimal and kept to the first and last 5 mins....
Rating: Summary: Miss Movie Man Review: An FBI agent (Bullock) goes undercover as Miss New Jersey in the Miss United States pageant to investigate a group threatening to bomb the event. (Caine plays Vic, the image consultant that transforms a tough agent into a beauty queen; Shatner plays a "loose cannon" beauty pageant host who just found out this is his last year in the job; Bratt plays an agent who trains Bullock in fighting techniques; Bergen plays the coordinator of the festival, a former contestant herself).
Rating: Summary: Miss Congenialty is fluffy and sweet Review: This movie ain't great art, and it's really pretty silly. Sandra Bullock is wonderfully charismatic, and saves what is really an ordinary, forgettable film. If you don't care for Sandra Bullock, then don't watch this movie. I'd rank it "right up there" with Love Potion #9. :) Kristine
Rating: Summary: Miss Congeniality Review: Miss Congeniality DVD ~ Sandra Bullock is not the next idea for the noble peace prize. Then why bother with to much pretense. The movie is fun, francy free and void of social commentery which is nice.
Rating: Summary: You Guys Will Love This! Review: First I wasn't sure I was going to see this movie, but I was told "Miss Congeniality" was definitely a real likeable funny comedy I should be watching. So, that's what I did, and it turned out that it was not that bad at all. Okay, it's not really the kind of movie you need to think about it while playing. Of course, it is a comedy! And if you do hate to be entertained that way, you have to keep this movie so far away from your TV set. But if you really want to have a great time, believe me for saying you will definitely make the right decision to see it! And, surprisingly, you could enjoy watching it again and again!!
Rating: Summary: simple put; funny.... Rating: Summary: AWESOME Review: First, where did Sandra Bullock's career go? The swirling has stopped, I think with this one she's already well down into the septic tank. Did she do something while I wasn't watching to really deserve this?
She seems like a nice enough lady (if not Miss Congeniality).
Second, Name one thing about this movie that merits a sequel. I sure can't find anything--and I'm one of the people stupid enough to have seen the first one.
Feel free answer these questions for me. It'll be time better spent than the time you wasted on the movie itself.
I guarantee it.
Rating: Summary: "She's beauty and she's grace..." or is she? Review: FBI agent Gracie Hart (Sandra Bullock) doesn't have a feminine bone in her body. She dresses like a slob, has a punching bag hanging in her apartment, doesn't wear makeup, clearly hasn't run a comb through her hair in years and, despite her name, lacks any discernable element of grace. She's the epitome of a tomboy. But Gracie is the best candidate the FBI can scrape up when they need an agent to go undercover in the Miss USA Pageant, which they fear may be the next target of a terrorist they are trying to track down. But there is one problem: They only have three days to transform this estrogen-deprived enigma into beauty pageant material. And of course, once they've done that, they still have to save the pageant and catch the bad guy.
This is definitely one of the better comedies produced in the last few years, and provides non-stop laughs. Sandra Bullock, who also produced the film, is at her comedic best. She really pours herself into the role and lets herself go, providing both verbal and physical comedy. And, despite the humor, Gracie Hart still feels like a real person that we can empathize with. The supporting cast is also great, including Benjamin Bratt as Gracie's fellow FBI agent Eric Matthews, Michael Caine as pageant consultant Victor Melling, Candice Bergen as pageant director Kathy Morningside, William Shatner as announcer Stan Fields, and Heather Burns as fellow contestant Miss Rhode Island.
Though "chick flick" is certainly the category this movie would fall under, "Miss Congeniality" has the potential to appeal to a wider audience. I saw this film twice in theaters, first with my father and then with a group of friends that included a guy. Both enjoyed it just as much as I did, and judging by the number of positive reviews here from male viewers, they are not alone. And heck, even if the plotline and comedy element aren't enough to keep the guys interested, there are always 50 gorgeous women to hold their attention! This is the Miss USA Pageant, after all.
The DVD as a whole is slightly less impressive. Bonus Features include cast and crew filmographies, one feature-length commentary with Sandra Bullock and co-screenwriter Marc Lawrence, and another with director Donald Petrie, two behind-the-scenes featurettes entitled "Preparing for the Pageant" and "The Pageant," both including some deleted scenes (all of which were much better left out of the film itself), and the theatrical trailer. Nothing terribly noteworthy, though the featurettes are somewhat interesting, albeit short. I was also a little disappointed to find that the DVD is packaged in the cardboard "snap case" style, rather than the more sturdy and durable plastic cases. But, packaging issues aside, "Miss Congeniality" is a great movie that I'd recommend to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Ms Bullock, you rock! Review: Although I have more respect for my battered Strats than I do for Hollywood stars, I, like most decent human beings, am moved by your profoundly generous gesture in the wake of the staggering Asian tsunami tragedy.
I humbly bow to you for doing something that should make the filthy-rich folk in your country, including your totally clueless leader, squirm in shame.
From now on, I'm going to make an extra effort to appreciate your work, especially this swell comedy which reflects your fabulous personality more truly than you could possibly know.
Give on!
Rating: Summary: Funny! Review: Okay, I watched this movie when it first came out and I thought that I must post a shout out for this movie! This is one of the drama movies that's my favorite.
It is about Gracie Hart, who is a member of the FBI, and is undercover for her wildest, craziest, oh and did I mention, most frigtening nightmare---dreams. She is to enter the beauty pageant, which needs a beautiful, and clumsy kind of women, but guess what? She is neither of it. She doesn't comb her hair, she doesn't eat like a lady or even walk like one, her perfect talent is to kick bad guys a**. But the pageant needs her, because someone is trying to bomb the crowned winner, and she needs to find out who before it is too late.
It is a my fave so it can be yours too!
Watch the second movie, Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous in theaters March 25, 2005. I hope it is as good as the first one!
