Summary: Miss Congeniality is a congenial film
Review: I normally don't write reviews; I read them. But I must confessto being appalled by the [comments] Miss Congeniality received. Firstly, Sandra Bullock is criticized. I'll admit, she's not what I'd call the most outstanding actress on earth, but she played the part of Gracie Hart a.k.a. Gracie LuFreebush surprisingly well. Another somewhat puzzling thing to me is that several certain people have said it's not too hard to turn Gracie into a beauty pageant contestant. Well, for those people, who were obviously sleeping during more then the first half of the movie, Gracie is ugly, unposh, disgusting, and grimy. As Candace Bergen says, near the end "anyone one would have looked better then you in a dress." Gracie doesn't even own a brush, or know what lipstick is. Another actor who's criticized; Benjamin Bratt. However, these people [...] don't explain why. He plays a character who is focused on his job, but still manages to look like a guy who has been on more then two dates. (As opposed to Gracie.) Overall, I think Miss Congeniality is a good movie [....]

Summary: Surprisingly entertaining
Review: I actually got forced into watching this movie. My cousins were up from LA during school break so we were all going to hang out for a movie before they went back down. But movies have been awful as of late, and the only thing out that me and one of the cousins wanted to see was "Traffic." The only choices at the theater were"All the Pretty Horses", "Miss Congeniality", "Quills", and some other garbage. "Quills" not being a family film, it was a fight between "Horses" and "Congeniality." I groaned at the thought of "Congeniality" b/c it had gotten trashed by Ebert the previous week.

Anyhow, walked in, no expectations, and I found it to be lightly entertaining and satisfying. Sandra puts on one of her better performances here as the tomboy FBI agent who gets assigned to undercover for a beauty pageant. She just exudes charm in this film especially when she's singing to Benjamin Bratt: "You think I'm SEXY, you want to KISS me...!" Not exactly the kind of film you want to be paying out $10 for, but it's Sandra in quite an endearing role since "While You Were Sleeping."

Summary: Sandra Bullock shines
Review: a clever and funny script, loveable characters, and the wonderful screen presence of Sandra Bullock make this little film a must...true, Hollywood has taken beauty pageant films to the max, but this is the only good one out there from all their recent efforts...lacking the crude humor of Drop Dead Gorgeous, this one goes for plain good-old fashioned laughs, and delievers many...it sucks you into the plot and delivers loads of fun for two hours...a crowd pleaser if there ever was one, Bullock deserves an Oscar Nomination for this one...

Summary: Light-hearted entertainment offers skin-deep laughs
Review: MISS CONGENIALITY is Sandra Bullock's most assured work to date after a string of maudlin performance in melodrama like Hope Floats and 28 Days. Bullock's fun and comedic timing is infectious - and it's no doubt that Ms. Congeniality warms up to the screen. She portrays Gracie Hart - who ironically, not what her name suggests, is without any demeanour and grace. She is hard-biting, cynical and is sent on a mission to prevent terrorists from creating havoc in a beauty pageant. There lies the romance with Benjamin Bratt, her partner - and her friendship with the contestants, as well as a bucketload of fun and laughter with her antics.

Ms. Congeniality is saved from its lack of originality after former movies like Drop Dead Gorgeous explores the superficial and the bitching around beauty contestants by the miraculous supporting casts. Lending hand is Michael Caine, who with his dry wits, sparkles as a consultant who trains Gracie and Candice Bergen of Murphy Brown fame, lights up the screen with her poise and screen maturity. Sandra Bullock has never been this radiant before after seeing her in a chain of dour, emotionally-drenched movies and the energy brimming in her actually made her, fortunately, refreshing and hilarious.

It is light-hearted entertainment at its best with an ensemble of seasoned supporting casts and fluffy romance. Sandra Bullock has never looked this good - so just buy it and have a barrel of skin-deep pleasure if you want to steer clear of heavy movies.

Summary: A Fun Movie
Review: Miss Congeniality was a funny and entertaining movie. Sandra Bullock & Benjamon Bratt had great chemistry. Sandra plays a tomboyish FBI Agent sent undercover to discover a mystery bomber. My fiance even enjoyed it! (He thought it would be a "Chick Flick" when we went to go see it, but he laughed just as much as I did!!)

Summary: Sandra Bullock Shows Her Talents
Review: This is one of those few movies that are funny enough for the cinema audience to sound like a laugh track. Sandra Bullock is one of the few actors who could pull this off -- beautiful enough to be a credible pageant contestant, believable as a tomboy, great comedic timing for the gags, and acting ability to generate empathy. Similar in style to the old Bette Midler comedies. Recommended!

Summary: GREAT MOVIE!!!!!
Review: This is a very funny movie!! It stars Sandra Bullock as a FBI agent who is a tomboy. She enters a pagent, to go undercover, because the pagent is getting threats from someone. This movie is extremely funny, and co-stars Benjamin Bratt and Michael Caine. Michael Caine stars as the guy who gives Sandra a make-over and teaches her to become "lady like" This movie was not really a mystery, but it was a good laugh. A great movie for everyone!~
