Rating: Summary: Cute but plodding. Review: ... And the script could have used some work.
Rating: Summary: Stupid but Funny Flick Review: I thought this was a decent light-hearted flick, but it did get a little stupid sometimes. I do feel that Sandra Bullock needs to get away from these types of films and start doing some serious work (she was almost there with 28 days, but then this came out)...
Rating: Summary: Hey, I really liked this movie Review: I'm so sick of critics critizing the smallest things("The third line was awful!"). Critics do their job- critic = one who criticizes, not compliments. So instead, I'm gonna give you an overview of the movie- which actually was fairly good. So it isn't a monumental, inspirational piece. It is fluff... but darn good fluff!! It is amusing, and the characters are very well cast. I'm NOT a big Sandra Bullock fan-in truth, I'd never seen one of her movies before this. Since then, I've realized (through this movie, among some others I've seen since) that she is a good actress, and can make any part her own. She does that with this movie- she can play both the frumpy FBI agent and the beauty queen. I'd never seen Benjamin Bratt before, and I was actually fairly pleasantly surprised. He was able to play his role as a tough guy with compassion- kind of an oxymoron. But he pulls it off. I've enjoyed Michael caine in other movies but I have never seen him as a comedic actor. Instead of liking his dramas better, I think his comedic acting is of equal quality, if not better. The script Is a little farfetched, but hey- comedies need to be farfetched to be pulled off. Think about it- if you made a non-farfetched comedy, like say, your life, would that be funny? maybe parts are funny, but Comedy does not come often enough in reality, so you need to... provoke it by creating a script that is out there so jokes can play off of it. This honestly is an amusing movie that I would recommend for anyone who is not so depressed that they actually can enjoy a frivolous piece every once in awhile, instead of just serious, influential pieces.
Rating: Summary: Sandra back on top form Review: So she falls over more than once? Physical comedy is ALWAYS funny and in this movie Sandra proves she has the talent for it in spades. But it is the face pulling that I thought was the funniest. The scene in the bar when Benjamin Bratt brings in the girl is particularly good. Of course, I would liked to have seen more of "that dress". I watched the DVD and then watched it again with Sandra's and the writer's commentary. This is a very funny movie. And I as a rule don't like comedies.
Rating: Summary: Complete Rubbish Review: Never in my life have I felt so sorry for a talented actor as I did for Michael Caine. What a waste of a great acting talent. This movie was so dull and predictable it doesn't even warrant 1 star. Sandra Bullock's laugh sounded like a rip off of Suzanne Summer's pig laugh on Three's Company. The script for this movie was unimaginative and dreadful (much like a Pauly Shore movie) If you are a fan of good comedy, avoid this film at all costs.
Rating: Summary: What a hoot! Review: First, I am a big Sandra Bullock fan. Second, this movie rocked! The story line is absolutely hilarious - a tomboyish detective is convinced to go undercover at a beauty pagent. Sandra does a great job in the beginning of the movie convincing the audience she is not 'frilly and feminine' - I especially love the scene with Michael Caine in the restuarant. If you want a good laugh...get this movie!
Rating: Summary: Sandra Bullock Rocks in MISS CONGENIALITY Review: Sandra Bullock Rocks in MISS CONGENIALITY. This is a funny movie that will have you rolling on the floor laughing. Sandra playes a cop who happens to get suspended aftter making a mistake that costs one of her fellow cops to get hurt after she tries to play hero. After her fellow cops cant seem to find any other women cop to go under cover in the Miss USA pageant they call upon our funny lady Sandra. Sandra's Co-star Bejamin Bratt also brings this comedy to life. There are some funny moments and I would rather you watch it than me give it away. At first I had no desire to watch this movie simply because im not much in to comedies, but I love Sandra Bullock and feel she is one of the most original, and funniest women in Hollywood so I gave this movie a rent on DVD..... To my surprise this was a Great Movie that was just awesome to get away from real life for a while. I have since bought this movie and want to say you should Buy this movie if your a Sandra Bullock fan, or if you just love a great funny movie!
Rating: Summary: Cary Grant of the 21st Century Review: Miss Congeniality was a hilarious and often slapstick movie. Sandra Bullock is the Cary Grant of the 21st Century-a gorgeous woman who appeals to both men and women- almost the girl next door. An undoubtedly graceful woman, she is portrayed as a mannish klutz who snorts when she laughs. She is transformed overnight into an unbelievable beauty - who is still a klutz...and tries to do her duty as an FBI agent in the alienating atmosphere of a beauty pageant without sleep or food. The places she tries to sneak out doughnuts are as amazing as the places she packs her firearms! My husband and I both enjoyed the movie immensely. No way we'll ever sell our DVD.
Rating: Summary: The funniest comedy! Review: Sandra Bullock plays Gracie Hart, who totally messed up in a shoot out and gets an agent down and out. Faced with the review boards, she gets on the paper work. The boys find out about a terrorist who will bomb the Miss United States pageant. So Gracie changes her name to Gracie Loufreebush, gets a manacure, and goes undercover. Although she does stupid things in it, she gives laughs. This one is so great i watch it every day. A really good buy! The ending surprises you, but the humor is in the bag.
Rating: Summary: Great Movie!! Review: This movie kept you laughing all the way through. Sandra Bullock was fab. The crew did a good job making her look as tom-boyish as possible. I recomend this movie to everyone.
