Rating: Summary: MISS SANDRA Review: I must say that any movie with Sandra Bullock is going to be better than it normally would be otherwise, and MISS CONGENIALITY is no exception. The movie is a fun-filled romp into the world of Gracie Hart (Bullock), the tough, tomboyish FBI agent, who is perfectly happy to be one of the guys, until she is given a special assignment that requires her to go undercover as a contestant in a beauty pageant, the very antipathy of her persona. Michael Caine plays her washed-up pageant coach, accepting the challenge of transforming Gracie Hart into Gracie Lou Freebush, the feminine beauty hidden within. Caine is hilarious in his role as the effeminate coach and trades barbs with Bullock in their tug-of-war relationship. Who is the one behind the plot to terrorize the pageant? This is your classic who-done-it mystery with Candice Bergen as the pageant director and William Shatner (aka Captain Kirk) as her assistant and emcee. They play good support roles, but MISS SANDRA makes this three-star movie a four in my opinion.
Rating: Summary: Sandra Bullock is highly entertaining Review: Federal Agent Gracie Hart (Sandra Bullock) is the last person you would expect to enter a beauty pageant. She is hostile, has horrible manners, and thinks beauty pageants go against everything feminism stands for. But when the FBI catches wind of a bomb threat to the Miss United States Pageant, Hart goes undercover as Gracie Lou Freebush from New Jersey. With the help of Victor Flemming (Richard King), Hart is able to transform herself from federal agent to feminissima. By using leads from some of the other contestants, Hart soon realizes who the bomber really is, leading to a hilarious climax at the final judging. This movie is a laugh a minute. Bullock's character is funny just by looking at her, and no one could portray her better. This movie is one that everyone should see at least once, but is certainly not an instant classic.
Rating: Summary: Funny and entertaining Review: If you go in expecting little you'll be pleasantly surprised. Not only does Bullock do a great comedic job in this film, but so do all the others - Candice Bergen, William Shatner, and Michael Caine. It's a light-hearted film poking fun at Miss America pageants (Scholarship programs!). The slapstick and humor throughout are worth a healthy laugh. It's not "Sense and Sensibility", but then it's not meant to be.
Rating: Summary: A Laugh out Loud chick-flick/action movie! Review: If you are a girl who has never seen this then I'm shocked! The thought of an 'ugly' FBI agent going undercover as Miss New Jersey in a Miss United State pagent just cracks me up! Part chick-flick, part action and part comedy, this is the best movie since Charlie's Angels (or did that come out after this movie?). I know I don't have anymore to say but I just don;t want to ruin this awesome movie for you! A Total 5 star movie!
Rating: Summary: This is excellent Review: I LOVE this movie! It is full of laughs and Sandra Bullock was the perfect person to take this role! She stars as Gracie Hart, an FBI agent who doesn't know what lipstick is and doesn't own a brush. She has to go undercover at the Miss United States Pagaent as Miss New Jersey. Sandra and Michael Caine are awesome together! Candice Bergen and William Shatner are also perfect in their roles. Only William Shatner could play the male co-host, he is hilarious! He is sort of like the way he is in the Priceline.com commercials. I would recommend this movie to anyone!
Rating: Summary: A WINNER! BULLOCK'S FUNNIEST FILM" Review: Sandra Bullock struts, sparkles, and stumbles her way through this comedy spoof about beauty pageants and the FBI. Michael Caine is perfectly cast as the makeover wizard with the ability to transform anyone into a dazzling beauty contestant complete with the right answers for those "crown- winning" questions. William Shatner and Candace Bergen are crisp, perky and flamboyant. This is a farce folks! Get ready for laughter. If you liked "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels", you will enjoy this comedy. It's fast paced. Don't blink. Don't even think about it. you will miss something delightfully funny and entertaining. Sandra Bullock continues to demonstrate her range; she can deliver heavy teary drama or comedy with apparent splendid ease. Good clean fun!
Rating: Summary: She's so darn cute! Review: A great comedy starring an incredibly cute woman who seems exempt from aging and linear time. Wait until you see her in the lavender outfit -- the woman is poetry in motion. Ms. Bullock does her usual good acting job, although not quite as good as Demolition Man and While You Were Sleeping. Kudos also to Michael Caine, William (Captain Kirk) Shatner, Candice (Murphy Brown) Bergen, and her Demolition Man costar, Benjamin Bratt.
Rating: Summary: Formulaic but FUN! Review: Sandra Bullock is difficult to make "plain." But between her snort-laugh acting like a guy schtick and a complete lack (?) of makeup, she pulls it off. It is amusing and yet touching to watch her come over to the other side of "womanhood" and learn to balance both her physical and intellectual abilities with a softer touch. And it's even more fun to watch Ben Bratt's reaction to it, although I think the sexual tension between them should have been played up more. This is not a deeply intellectual movie. But Sandra's physical comedic prowess is fabulous to watch. This is a good clean movie to watch with your husband after a long day at work. The kids could even watch(especially daughters!). It is easy on the brain, enjoyable and not heavy-handed on it's message. The violence is minimal (there is one FBI take-down in the beginning, but even this is not gorey) and limited to some self-defense moves that, quite frankly, every woman should know.
Rating: Summary: Who approves this stuff? Review: I rushed out to buy the DVD because I had heard it was a fairly amusing movie. Amusing? For whom? My eight year old? My five year old? It was inane and silly. I think Dr. Doolittle 2 rates slightly above this one and you don't want to know what I thought of that one. It makes you wonder what these guys in the studios were thinking when they spend thirty million dollars to make this movie! What a waste of money. Well, you can save YOUR money. You can have a better time watching traffic.
