Summary: Nun Too Many, Nun Too Few
Review: This is definitely one of those movies which you'll remember for years afterwards, and will you leave you on a high afterwards - although, personally, Coyote Ugly always does it for me.

Apart from Ghost, this is one of Whoopi's best movies. She's hilarious in it, especially when she finds out she can't get lucky - you're in a convent darling, and the nun's habit isn't likely to attract any guys!

Sister Act has a marvellous cast, most of who came back for the sequel (which includes a young Lauryn Hill). Maggie Smith and Harvey Keitel are stand outs, Maggie playing an old-fashioned nun, who likes things done just right and Harvey plays an outrageous mobster. My two favourite nuns are Sister Mary Patrick (played by Kathy Najimy) and Sister Mary Robert (played by Wendy Makkena).

Whoopi Goldberg originally starts up off playing a fed up lounge singer, who, when she goes into the convent, has to teach the choir how to sing. With hilarious results. There are a lot of fantastic songs in this including: "My Guy", "I Will Follow Him", "Rescue Me", and "If My Sister's In Trouble". Most of Sister Mary Robert's singing is absolutely fantastic, although I reckon it was a voice stand in, and not her own voice!!!!

Surprisingly, there are extras on this DVD! A trailer, and 2 videos! Oh well, it's better than nothing - which is what I was expecting. The two videos are "If My Sister's In Trouble" by Lady Soul, featuring Sister Mary Patrick, and Sister Mary Robert, wearing their nun costumes, and rather a lot of makeup, and "I Will Follow Him", which is just a video made to promote the film.

This is a brilliant film, although I can imagine some cynics out there not enjoying it! I do though, and that's all that matters.

Summary: Hilarious!
Review: This is my favourite Whoopi Goldberg comedy. It's fun from beginning to end and perfect for watching when you just need a laugh or want to sit and and relax for 90-odd minutes. If you want to look deeper, then there's a not-too-hard-to-find message about getting out and living life and taking a chance rather than always choosing the safe alternative. There's also one about not being self-centred but rather being generous towards others. But you really don't have to worry too much about these - just sit down in your favourite chair and prepare to laugh.

Summary: Hilarious-- & There's Awesome Music, Too!
Review: This is one of my favorite movies-- it's SO funny, and there are great songs that I can listen to over and over!
A tacky casino singer witnesses a murder committed by a mob, and the police hide her away in a convent until they can set a trial date. She meets a bunch of nuns that each have their own individual personalities (something that makes this movie so much fun) and is instructed to join the AWFUL nun's choir by the strict Reverend Mother. Then she discovers that she can actually help the choir to be great, and that there is really a lot of talent in that group.
If you haven't seen it, you're missing out! Go and rent it!
Better yet, buy the DVD--that way you can watch the wonderful concert scenes over and over again through the magic of chapter selection--

Summary: HILARIOUS MOVIE!!!! It's a Classic!!!!
Review: This is one of my favorite movies. It's hilarious and there's never any slow spots in the film. Whoopi Goldberg does a fabulous job along with Maggie Smith and Kathy Najimy.

The musical numbers are classic, too. The nuns turn Motown tunes into spiritual praise songs and gives a new interpretation to traditional Catholic hymns. This is a MUST SEE!

I loved it and I know that you will too! A perfect film for a date or even the family!

Review: This movie took a while to get going, but once the sisters began singing, we loved it. We have watched this movie a zillion times and it still makes us smile.

Summary: Absolutely hilarious! A great movie!
Review: To me, this movie was an unexpected gem. I didn't think that I would like it, but after seeing it, how could I not? The script was well-written and full of subtle humour. My favourite scene is when Whoopi and the sisters are talking about "getting the call". I still laugh at that! The music is really upbeat and fun, too. Who would have thought they could make everyday pop tunes into church songs? All in all, a definite must-see! You will laugh out loud!

Summary: "I wouldn't even tell the Pope"
Review: Whoopi Goldberg plays a Reno lounge singer who witnesses a crime. She runs to the police to tell of the crime, only to find that Vince LaRoca is a underworld crimelord. She goes to St. Katherine's chruch to hide out before Vince kills her. She dresses like a nun and becomes "Sister Mary Clearance"
Soon, Sister Mary is assigned to the choir, which needs a LOT of help. Sister Mary Clearance helps the choir out and does such a good job, that the Pope himself comes to St. Katherine's to see the choir. A great comedy!
