Review: This movie was presented as giving a gift to the VA fans. That it was. It was completely designed to be what they would want to see... and that's why it was so bad. Some artists evolve this way - first they write creative works with new ideas and then they go back and pander to the people who liked their earlier creative works. If it weren't for the fact that this was the final View Askew universe movie, Kevin Smith would have taken a huge step down that path with this one.

Want an example? The plot of the movie is that they are making a movie about Jay and Silent Bob - or characters based on them at least. Early on, someone asks, "Who would want to see a movie about Jay and Silent Bob?" Ok, cute. They're mocking us. But then they stop the action, have all of the actors turn and look directly at the camera. ...and then this joke is repeated twice more during the movie.

It goes on like that. Self reference. A long pointless scene in which - gasp - they insinuate that Velma might be a lesbian and Shaggy might smoke pot. Actors appear and make fun of their other roles. 90 minutes of this....

...it wasn't completely wasted mind you. There were some funny jokes and stuff... but it could have been actually good. Instead Smith took the easy way out whenever he could.

Review: I saw this movie last night at a sneak preview.I've been waiting for this movie since it was announced and was not disspointed.Definitely a great movie for fans since it includes almost every character from all the earlier films.One thin I liked about(other than it being about Jay and Silent Bob)was that it looked more polished than the other films.Make sure to see this one when it opens on its release date.I hope this isn't the last film in the Viewaskewuniverse.

Summary: What a parody should be
Review: Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back leaves no type of film un-victimized. It pokes fun at Star Wars, Scream, E.T., not to mention series regulars Ben Affleck and Matt Damon playing as themselves in a scene where you expect one thing, and then get a totally different outcome. Writer/director Kevin Smith also gets a kick out of making fun of all his previous films. Sit through the credits or you you will miss the final scene. An awesome crowd pleaser that had us laughing so hard at times that we missed some of the dialogue. Will warrant a second viewing to catch what was missed.

Review: ...therefore, I will not give away anything!

I have had the priviledge of seeing this film in an advance screening, and let me tell you, I can't WAIT until the nationwide release so I can see this again!

I'm sure by now you've all seen the trailers and can kind of pick out bits and pieces of the plot, so I feel no need to give a plot synopsis or a recommendation as to whether or not you should go see this. I can sum it all up very quickly:

If you are a fan of Kevin Smith's earlier films, you are going to be VERY pleased with this one. The same type of humor as in the previous films is here, and believe me, much like "The Simpsons," he DOES reward you for paying attention! Even if you're not a huge fan on the level of many people, you're still going to like this film! Jason Mewes finally proves (much to my surprise, even) that he has what it takes to carry an entire film, and even to be a ROMANTIC LEAD!!! Yes, that's right, but I will tell no more...

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are at their personal best in this film. The chemistry these two have really shines through in this movie, and their friendship comes through in the entirety of their screen time. And believe me, these two are an HILARIOUS addiction to this movie! Their sense of humor really adds to the scope of the picture.

Of course, there are others of your favorites reprising their original roles from the four previous film, but I won't give too much away! As I said earlier, those of you who who have been paying attention will be greatly rewarded!

In all, if I may repeat myself, if you like Kevin Smith films, by all means, line up on opening day and SEE THIS MOVIE. If you don't like his films, then don't even bother. You probably won't get it anyway.

Review: I just got back from a sneak showing of this, and I must say, it's one of the funniest comedies out right now. All I can say, is that if your a Kevin Smith fan, this movie is ineluctable.

Summary: The universe according to Kevin Smith - a bizarre constellat
Review: Kevin Smith chose to say goodbye to the world of Jay and Silent Bob with a film that was 'nothing but a long line of gags. No issues. Just a big joke, a big laugh.'

Judging by the enthusiasm of the crowd in the press screening in LA on June 27th, he has succeeded. The familiar characters are all greeted like old friends. Laughs abound. The film has only a thin plot-line, but who cares.

Jay and Silent Bob find out their alter egos 'Bluntman and Chronic' will be used in a movie without their consent, and they set off from New Jersey to Hollywood to sabotage the project. On the way, they hitch rides from a nun (Carrie Fisher), the cast from 'Scooby Doo', and four 'Charlie's Angels'-like girls who use the guys as patsy's for a diamond heist. Smith digresses from the story at will. He introduces a mad Wildlife Ranger, who pursues them; he used a monkey (pardon: an ape) in his comics and so hey: there's a urangutan in J&SBSB. If their is a more laid-back film I haven't seen it.

Smith does what he pleases, sticks to a very simple style of directing and lets his actors have fun. All cameos are funny; all gags seem to have to do with . . . Jay, especially, has no 'moral barometer' to keep him from saying the most outrageous and 'incendiary' [stuff].

Even when the film is not funny, it is still a peg or two above your average adolescent . . . summer movie (American Pie, Legally Blonde, Scary Movie 2). Why? Because every detail of the film, however crude or obscene, proves that Smith is a man who is thoroughly in love with the world, the world of Quick Stops and comics and Star Wars. This love is unusual. It can be felt; it proves that Smiths film are not really frivolous or camp. He really cares.

In my book, that puts him on a page with Woody Allen, or Warhol, or Lenny Bruce. Undoubtedly, Smith will now 'grow up'. Heaven knows what he'll do next. He mentioned 'a serious Woody Allen-September movie', a film without the Jay and Silent Bob safety net. I'll be there.

Summary: Kevin, is that you?
Review: I've been waiting a long time to see Jay and Silent Bob get more screen-time. In my opinion, they can't go wrong. This movie has just *got* to be hilarious, like just about everything else with J&SB. However, I can't help but note the review by jorgew of San Antonio (Jorge Williams), and remember how, in the past, Kevin Smith himself has gotten in a picket line and protested his own movie (I think it was Dogma), and lavished insults among the principals. Jorgew's review sounds *exactly* like the kind of thing Smith would say, and the way in which he would single himself out for ridicule. How many of the American filmgoing (or, in this case, not-going -- yet) public would use the word "didactic?" And who but Smith himself would single out this beautifully articulate speaker and writer of occasional brilliance as someone who is best "to shut up" -- no other Smith aficionado I've talked to sees him this way. To top it off, dismissing the humor as "crude, juvenile, and unimaginitive" is just the kind of irony with which Smith himself would quote other reviews of his past work or comments made to him. My sincere apologies to Mr. Williams if I have him in error -- your review constitutes a brilliant parody if you are really *not* Kevin Smith. Thanks for the laughs!

Summary: Oh no not another one...
Review: Seeing as how other people have reviewed the film without having watched it I thought I'd do the same.

If the movie is like anything we've seen from Kevin Smith in the past then we can expect a didactic film with crude, juvenile, and unimaginative humor. One problem with Kevin Smith is that he takes himself too seriously and his bubble-gum philosophical themes get in the way of the comedy. Another problem is his use of dialog most of which is glittering, spurious, and totally unwarranted. The only good thing about a Kevin Smith movie is that Silent Bob doesn't talk -- now if we could only get the rest of the cast to shut up. And finally, we have Jason Mewes' acting which is at best distracting.

Why people are so infatuated with his movies is beyond me. I suspect it has something to do with the fact that Smith seems to know his audience well and has a knack for affirming their believes, insulting their foes, and just basically not challenging them. His movies are dirty limericks. They sound nice, they are easy to laugh to and enjoy, but int the end are of little or no poetic significance.

Review: I was lucky enough to see a screening of this film at ComiCon in San Diego. It is Kevin Smith's most hilarious work to date. Jason Mewes outdoes his performance in Dogma as Jay, which is a good thing now that he has to verbally carry a film. The movie finds Jay and Silent Bob on a journey from New Jersey to Hollywood to collect royalties from Miramax, who are making the Bluntman and Chronic movie. The two are owed royalties as the Bluntman and Chronic characters are based on them. At all the stops on their trek they encounter a host of characters, including almost all of the main chracters from past Smith movies (Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy) and Matt Damon and Ben Affleck as themselves (they played in Dogma), and some new ones, such as Will Ferrel of SNL fame as an inept Federal Wildlife protection officer and Shannon Elizabeth of American Pie as a jewel theif. The film also features cameos by George Carlin, Carrie Fisher (Leia in Star Wars), Chris Rock, and a hysterical appearence by Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker in Star Wars), as a chracter named C-ckKnocker, that plays off of Star Wars. If you are a Kevin Smith fan, or are interested in (crude) comic perfection, than you should see this movie.
