Summary: Now, this was one funny movie.
Review: If you liked The State, the sketch comedy show from MTV, then you'll most likely laugh at the same people here. Most of the cast is in this film, and Michael Showalter and David Wain (also the director) co-wrote it.

It's the last day of camp in the summer of 1981. Janeane Garofalo plays the camp director who falls in love with the local physicist, David Hyde Pierce. But the real star is Showalter, who plays "Coop," trying to get the girl of his dreams to fall for him, in spite of her "love" for vapid Paul Rudd (who reminded me a lot of Trey Parker here, for some reason).

This movie is basically a take-off of the '80's camp films like Meatballs. You know, the ones they used to show on USA Up All Night. And every possible gag is included here, including a few I didn't see coming (like the trip to "town").

One thing, though, keep in mind while you watch it that all of this is happening during the span of one day.

Summary: Good Showcase for the Talents of ex-State Members
Review: Under the helm of director/writer David Wain and writer/actor Michael Showalter (both formerly of The State), "Wet Hot American Summer" is a spoof of the 'summer camp' comedies of the late 70s/early 80s. The cast features many funny performers such as Janeane Garafolo, David Hyde Pierce, Molly Shannon, and Paul Rudd, as well as other former State players, Michael Ian Black, Ken Marino, and Joe Lo Truglio. If you're not familar with The State or the idea that this movie's main intention is to be silly and stupid, than you might not like it. However, if you're a fan of The State, there are several laugh-out-loud moments and the audio commentary from Wain, Showalter, and Garafolo is worth the price of the DVD alone. The featurette and outtakes/deleted scenes are also very funny. Highly recommended if you liked The State or consider the summer comedies of the early 1980s an enjoyable guilty pleasure.

Summary: Hillarious!!
Review: This is one of the great slapstick comedies of our time! Other than David Hyde Peirce's performance, this was awsome. I think the greatest performance of all, however, was that of Chris Meloni! He plays the camp cook(Gene) who has some MAJOR issues, but I won't spoil it for anyone by saying anymore. If you want some Laugh Out Loud, Rolling On The Floor, Side Spliting action, then this is the movie for you!!! Enjoy, I did!

Summary: Best Movie Ever
Review: I saw this movie a few weeks ago not knowing beforehand that several members of the State are in it and that Wain and Showalter produced and wrote it. The first time I saw it I thought it was great. Upon second and subsequent viewings I realized that it is the smartest and funniest comedy ever made. Yes, this is just my opinion, but that doesn't make it any less true. Showalter, Black, Marino and Lo Truglio are simply amazing. The rest of the cast is great too, especially Christopher Meloni (sp?) as Gene. Garafolo and Pierce are easily the least funny people in the movie, but even they pull off a few good moments. By the way, if you are stupid (i.e. Roger Ebert) you will probably not like this movie. It will leave you confused and angry. If you are a real person, however, you will want to watch it constantly. Hopefully Showalter and Wain will make another movie soon. Again, funniest movie ever made...

Summary: Either you like it or you won't
Review: The story takes place at the Jewish summer camp, Camp Firewood. It takesplace in one day and has numerous plot lines that tell the stories of different campers. Victor tries to loose his virginity while a group of nerds works to save the camp from destruction. There are probably a dozen hilarious different side stories in this movie. The characters are the best part. Each character has a different quirk in their personality and plays out their role extremely well. The movie also pokes fun at alot of 80s movies and the parody parts are very well done. I found myself reciting lines from this movie months after I saw it.
Wet Hot American summer is a movie some will get and some won't. When my friend brought the DVD half the people watching it found it funny and half found it the stupidest thing it the world. The humor in this movie is stupid and that is the point of it. In one scene a kid drowns and Andy, the camp rebel, takes a kid who witnessed it and throws him out of his car onto the side of the road. Yes the scene is stupid but it was still incredibly funny. If your into the stupid, sick, and random things flying around than this movie is for you.

Summary: All people who bash this movie are dumb.
Review: I'm sorry to say, but everyone who gives this film a bad rating have the sense of humor of an Iraqi camel spider. I'd like to see everyone who gave this movie a bad rating try to make a comedy. I bet their idea of a funny scene would be two men sitting in a library reading and one man starts to speak loudly. This movie is a comedic masterpiece. If I could give it 10 stars I would. I loved every part of this movie. A little warning for those with weak stomachs watch out for McKinley: P. This movie is an excellent buy and I suggest that everyone owns a copy.
