Rating: Summary: "Pills are good, Pills are good." Review: This is one movie that lives up to it's title boast, that's for damn sure. The "plot" hinges on Lloyd (Jim Carrey), a seriously.... well, I guess stupid is the nicest word I can think of. He drives a limo, and one day, falls for a girl named Mary Swanson (Lauren Holly, Jim's then-wife). He's so curteous as to grab the briefcase she leaves behind in the airport, but fails to catch her plane (in one of the funniest scenes in the movie.) So he and his roommate/best friend/intellectual peer Harry decide to head to Aspen to return it to her. But they're both oblivious to the fact that it contains millions of dollars, and was left in the airport by Mary in the ariprot as ransom for her kidnapped husband. Now the bad guys are out to get Lloyd and Harry. This was the Farrelly Brothers first movie, and let me tell you, they show no mercy. They have Lloyd raise $25 in loose change by taping the head of a decapitated parakeet on and selling it to a blind kid. And ohhhhh, that scene in the toilet with Harry will make you wanna have a pottie. It's kinda difficult to pinpoint which of the two "heroes" falls under the DUMBER slot. Lloyd, at one point in the road trip, heads east and detours the duo by "a sixth of the way across the country. Harry, by contrast, gets his tongue frozen to a pole when tries to lick the frost off. But these two guys just blur the line between DUMB and DUMBER. Lloyd thinks it's a good idea to swap a van for nothing more than a scooter. And Harry's skill with a gun (or lack thereof) would make the NRA shudder. I like the movie because it delivers what it promises:stupidity and comedy in equal measures, often (in fact, always) intertwined. There's one scene where Lloyd is being shaven, and suddenly grabs his throat, and it appears his throat has beeen slit when the red liquid comes out. Or, could it be ketchup? Movies like this aren't for everyone, but (based on the amount of money DUMB AND DUMBER made), alot of people do enjoy toilet humor. The perfect test to determine how much you migght enjoy a movie is one I invented, called the E.N.D. test, and you apply it to this movie like this:if you've EVER felt compelled to do what Lloyd does when he needs to pee but can't stop the car, if youv'e NEVER had the accident Harry has at the gas station, and if you DON'T think that the samsonite label on a briefcase refers to it's owner, then this is your movie. As you can see, I passed the E.N.D. test with flying colors.
Rating: Summary: Great Movie Review: Probably the best movie Jim Carrey has ever done.
Rating: Summary: imbecilic and humorless to the bone Review: I downloaded this movie off Kazaa by accident (the file title said it was something else, that begins with an M and ends with a 2). I figured, what the heck, I might as well take a look. I'd never seen a Jim Carry movie before, and I thought maybe I'd been prejudiced after all. I don't have a high taste in comedy (I like Naked Guns, Hot Shots and the like) but I think most highschool kids would write a better script, and funnier lines, than this movie has. I won't even get started with miserable acting. This movie looks like a social experiment, as if whoever made it wanted to see how low they can go. Here's a hint: if you see a file of size 665,762KB, don't download it, whatever the title says. It's this one.
Rating: Summary: CODE GREEN ELEVENS Review: The touching story of two friends suffering from some serious mental condition and their struggles to make their way in the world. How do two people with similar afflictions find themselves? Maybe they were both in an accident and knocked their heads - eerie. The seem to feed off of each other's mistakes and act solely on impulse, my guess is that along with head trauma they each have a touch of ADD and OCD. The movie never fully explains this, which is why I had a very hard time relating to their antics. I also wanted to know why the carpet covered van wasn't completely covered with bugs and grime. I found myself rooting for them despite their silliness and inability to do anything remotely correct. My favorite scene was when the blond dumb guy throws the snowball as hard as he can at his girlfriend's head who is only a foot or two away - funny stuff. Bottom Line: You might enjoy this movie, but don't expect any insight on what's wrong with these guys.
Rating: Summary: A COMEDY CLASSIC Review: I LOVE this movie. I have seen it a million times and could watch it a million more! Harry and Lloyd are just are biggest idiots in the world but thats what makes it so great. If your looking for a laugh, pick it up...I think its Jim Carey's best.
Rating: Summary: HILARIOUS,OBNOXIOUS,AND A BRILLIANT FILM Review: THIS FILM IS HILARIOUS AND FUNNY IT HAS SOME MOMENTS OF LAUGHS AND ALSO SAD MOMENTS,BUT JIM CARREY AND JEFF DANIELS MAKE THE LAUGHS THE FIRST WHILE LOTS OF HILARIOUS SITUATIONS HAPPEN ON THE ROAD FROM RHODE ISLAND TO ASPEN,SO WHEN INEPTFUL LLOYD THINKS HIS BEAUTY QUEEN MARY SWANSON LEFT HER SUITCASE AT THE AIRPORT HE TAKES IT AND GOES ON A ROAD TRIP WITH HIS STUPID PAL HARRY AND THE HILARIOUS STUFF HAPPENS. THIS FILM HAS HILARIOUS MOMENTS.
Rating: Summary: A wacky comedy Review: Jim Carrey & Jeff Daniels are two morons who drive out to Aspen to return a woman's suitcase filled with cash. The comedy never ends with the hot candy scene, the overdose of laxative scene and many others that'll make you howl with laughter.
Rating: Summary: Utterly hilarious Review: What a great film. Jim Carrey shares his slapstic with the Farrely Brother's satire and puns. I have seen this film (on vhs) about 40 times! Although it is getting old, I cannot wait for the pre-quel "Dumb and Dumberer." My favorite gag is the kid with the parrot, but after the amount of times I've seen it, it is getting old. Although I can agree with most things that the critics say about this film, these are pros. Even Roger Ebert said he drew a crowd durring the parrot gag. Although it's plot is weak, the ending gives a nice resolution. Thank you for taking the time to read my review and feel free to leave me a helpful/not helpful feedback. God Bless America!
Rating: Summary: Our Pet's HEADS are FALLIN' OFF! Review: My wife and I get together every other week or so and sit down to watch this movie Dumb and Dumber. After a week of work and the duldrums of life we like to unwind with Harry and Lloyd. We've watched this movie at least 50 times and know every word and phrase. This movie is number one on my all time funny movie list. One word of advice though, don't go and watch the sequel coming out this summer....none of the original geniuses that were involved with this one are in the prequel, exept maybe the movie execs....
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: If only a 0 star rating were possible, this movie along with There's Something about Mary would be the recipients. I enjoy slapstick, but this movie is just insidiously stupid.
