Summary: Dumb and dumber
Review: Dumb and Dumber was the movie that brought a breath offresh air to the 1994 box-office. This movie, starring Carrey, JeffDaniels, and Lauren Holly, incorporates essentially nothing but a gag after gag reveling the limited intelligence of the characters portrayed by Carrey and Daniels. The movie is filled with a large amount of toilet humor and, surprising to some, employs it more effectively than any other movie in history, and is howlingly funny. The bottom line of the movie? Carrey's character, Lloyd Christmas, is a hopeless romantic limousine driver, and Daniels', the mentally borderline Harry Dunne, lives as a canine groomer, trainer, and breeder (mostly doggy style). Residing in the New Jersey area, Lloyd meets the woman of his dreams, Mary Swanson (Holly), when he drives her to the airport. Mary's only luggage: a briefcase filled with cash that is being used to pay the ransom for her kidnapped husband, which she is to leave in the middle of one of the terminals for the kidnappers to pick-up. Lloyd assuming that Mary has mistakenly left her

luggage retrieves it seconds before the villainous crooks can. The story then follows the dim-witted, yet humorous, trip made by the two best friends to Aspen, Colorado, to return the presumed misplaced item to Mary, while being pursued by the kidnappers. The first major project for director Peter Farrelly, the movie never weakens in pace. The four-star film's constant humor and hilarious behaviors of Harry and Lloyd encompass the film in such a capricious way that any exceptional musical scores or special effects are not needed. The character depicted by Carrey is similar to previous roles he has undertaken, especially after his four years with Saturday Night Live. As for Daniels, his type of character is relatively new as previous movies include: Gettysburg (1993), Arachnophobia (1990), and Sweet Hearts Dance (1988). So what makes this 106 minute long stream of immature behavior and relentless stupidity so appealing to movie viewers everywhere? The innocent way that the characters are portrayed by Carrey and Daniels. Every movie-goer can relate to their silliness in some secret way or another. Such lines as: "Austria? Well then, g'day mate, throw another shrimp on the barbie," "his head fell off....ahhhh....yeah he was getting pretty old," "all this time I just thought that she was a raging alcoholic," and "I can't stop once I start, it stings," have special meaning to viewers as they are encompassed into the story line as Harry and Lloyd never fail to provide stomach aching laughs. Despite the popularity of the movie, it is not intended for all. The film's language and subtle adult themes employ the MPAA rating of PG-13. Curious children may place parents in a sticky situation trying to explain aspects of the bathroom humor that are displayed by Carrey and Daniels. For the most part, Dumb and Dumber is appropriate for any viewer that has no problem with current primetime sitcoms that the networks present on television. So if the soul is striving something fresh, funny, and well presented, Dumb and Dumber is the prescription. The constant laugh-out-loud humor and never-dwindling antics of Carrey and Daniels keeps the pace of this cinema up to beat. Viewers will undoubtedly adopt various characteristics and quotes of the characters Harry and Lloyd into their daily lives. Dumb and Dumber's style, humor, and characters have raised the comedy standards in the movie industry, thus giving moviegoers hope that similar movies will follow.

Summary: Dumb and Dumber
Review: This movie may be full of potty humor, but I think that it is safe to say that this is the funniest movie I have ever seen. I'm even watching it right now. If you like Carrey and Daniels, you will definitely like this movie. I still can't get over the Mocking Bird Song. You'll see.

Summary: Couldn't stop laughing
Review: Watched the DVD last night...unbelievably funny! Obviously some people don't respond to Jim Carrey, but I sure did! My wife also liked it, though I think part of her amusement was watching me go into contortions while cracking up. I imagine all Jim Carrey fans have seen this movie...if not, don't hesitate!

Summary: How did the critics not find this movie funny?
Review: Out of ALL the comedies I've watched this is the ONE that made me laugh more than any other. And I don't think another movie will ever come out that will make me laugh that hard, ever. My question is how did every single critic for a newspaper not find this movie funny? There are so many memorable scenes you can just think of to yourself and absolutely make you crack up. I laughed so hard in the theaters I cried. Literally side splitting. Carrey and Daniels are just two dorks, but that is exactly what they are trying to accomplish in this movie. They are trying to be stupidly funny. And they are.

Summary: Grossly smart
Review: The title had turned me off (not to mention the jacket's picture) untill someone I trusted recommended this film to me. Watching it again on DVD, I found it even funnier. Carry and Daniels mix like gin and tonic, they work together to create funny situations where others would find it uphill. A road picture has the advantage of keeping things always mooving along (Dumb and Dumber goes from Rhode Island to Aspen Colorado), and to this concoction add suspense, intrigue, romance (of a kind) and insanity reigns! The script is cleverly crafted and there is no profanity (isn't that a change), the direction (Peter Farley) is smooth as Jumbo jet 4 point landing. Impressive film - still not everyone will find this film funny, but from the box office smash that it was, most did.
