Summary: Dumb and Dumber
Review: Two idiots trek across the US in a dog shaped car to deliver a girl's briefcase and hopefully score with her.Along the way they create general havoc, insult everyone they come across, and demonstrate a complete lack of even the basic social niceties. If fart-gags are your cup of tea, this movie will be an ideal way to spend some time.A superb gross-out comedy from the always amusing Farrelly brothers, who appear to be the only people in Hollywood who actully know how to pull this stuff off.

Summary: Great Movie but where are all the features?
Review: Are you telling me that through the course of filming this movie there were no hilarious out-takes? I can just imagine Jim Carey goofing around on the set. How about commentary? this is a classic feature film here people... Let's put some thought into these DVDs now. I'd love to listen to a Jim Carey audio commentary track. That would make my day right there. I recommend getting this dvd if you are a die-hard fan and absolutely HAVE to own it, otherwise, i'd wait untill the studio released another, better, Dumb and Dumber dvd.

Summary: Turn off your brain and enjoy...
Review: I'm not sure what many of these other reviewers are thinking - they should'nt be doing anything of the sort. There is no sophistication, no allegory, no subtext, absolutely nothing cerebral a viewer ought to be reading into this film.

This is the pinnacle (rock bottom depth?) of low brow comedy. Yes, its childish. Yes, its sophmoric. And it succeeds in this brand of humor like no other film. Just turn off your brain and enjoy the kind of playground giggling you relished in as a child.

Summary: The Best of all Jim Carrey "Silly Movies"
Review: Kids probably went to see this film to find out how much dummer dumb can get, having a pretty good idea based on their experience with "Ace Ventura--Pet Detective" and "Mask". With "Dumb and Dummer", however, Carrey departs somewhat from the strict laugh-a-minute non-sense to a moving character who searches for companionship and love. Of course, this wish is explored in this movie, but in the end the two leading clowns do what they do best: act dumb. -- The scene where a bus load of gorgeous beauty padgent contestants stop to ask for 2 guys to assist them with the application of sun tan lotion (for the next 2 weeks!), and are told by our "heroes" that they could find guys in the next town is hilarious! -- This is a continuation of Jim Carrey 6-year-olds entertainment, but a notch above the rest!

Summary: Slapstick at its Best
Review: Wow, wow, and double wow... I first watched this movie at a cinema and I must have embarrassed myself while laughing sooo loud.

The movie will unfortunately only appeal to those with a love for 'Jim Carey' type slapstick humour. Taking dumbness to its dumbest.

Excellent !

It wins hands down against all Jim Carey and slapstick comedies. "So you're telling me there's a chance"

Summary: It's Supposed to be Stupid [..]!
Review: If there is a film out there that has created such an rift among viewers as Dumb and Dumber, I'd like to see it. It seems that everyone I know either loves the movie or abhorrs it. It is easy to see why people love the movie. The movie is outrageously funny, and I believe most of the film's critics will concede this. However, without fail, the number one critique of the film by opponents is, "but it's so stupid." This is like saying you don't like Schindler's List because "it's too serious." Of course it's stupid! That's the point! Unfortunately, pounding the keys on the keyboard harder isn't helping to portray my sentiments here. First of all, this is not a movie you can only see once. Sure, one viewing will account for all the "big laughs", Lloyd's airport fiasco, Harry's bathroom adventure and the ski lift accident. If you base your judgement on the big laughs alone, I can see how the movie could seem innane and childish. I suggest every critic of Dumb and Dumber should watch the movie a few more times for the little laughs. There are so many jokes and they are so clever that I find myself appreciating the movie more each time I watch it. For example, in the scene with the state trooper (Harland Williams) the center of comedic attention is clearly the point at which the officer drinks the beer bottle full of urine. This "big laugh" often steals the limelight away from the smaller laughs in the same scene. While handing the bottle over to the trooper, Lloyd accidentally spills some of the urine on Harry, to Harry's obvious displeasure. When the officer realizes what it is he has swallowed, one can faintly hear Lloyd suggest, "Tic Tac sir?" It is subtle moments like these that pervade the movie and make it great every time you watch it. I think part of the problem with the movie is that there are simply too many jokes in the movie. Many of the more subtle, clever jokes get overshadowed by bigger ones, leaving some feeling like the movie is simple toilet humor. This is a grave injustice. Perhaps the most complexing issue concerning the critical reception of Dumb and Dumber is the overwhelming acclaim of the Farelly brother's follow-up film, There's Something About Mary. The two movies are eerily similar. Both involve a road trip starting in Providence. These trips are in search of a woman who is way to good for her respective suitor. In both, the protagonists encounter difficulty and comedic moments along the way. Yet everyone I know loves Mary, while Dumb and Dumber recieves mixed reviews. The only significant difference between the two films is that in Dumb and Dumber, our hero doesn't get the girl. Perhaps this is why reception of the movie is so clearly delineated along gender lines. Women, I can only assume, want Dumb and Dumber to be a romantic comedy, which it is clearly not. Mary can be seen perhaps as fitting this genre because it has the textbook 'boy gets girl' ending (although my mother wanted Brett Favre to get the girl). The fact that Dumber doesn't fall into the obligatory cliche ending is, in my opinion, a large part of it's appeal. Whether you like it or not, you should buy a copy of Dumb and Dumber and watch it fifty times like I have. Then I think you will understand that being stupid is "genius, sheer genius."

Summary: very funny
Review: i could watch this movie over and over again *just* for the scene where Mary gets attacked with the snowball - classic!

Summary: Absolute rubbish
Review: I was very dumb in watching this film when it was ballyhooed as hilarious. I found it perfectly disgusting - a procession of toilet jokes that no one past the age of three would find funny.

Summary: Ok, see my reason why.........
Review: When I first saw this film, I hated it. After seeing the superior "Kingpin", and "There's Something About Mary", I decided to give this one a second try, and to be honest I LOVED IT! I don't know what did it, but I laughed until I cried, and only Monty Python can make me laugh like that. I wouldn't recommend this to evryone, but I would recommend it to fans of the movie "The Jerk", and all fans of the Farelly Bros. movies. To sum up: NOT for everyone, but GREAT for fans.

Summary: Our pets heads are falling of!
Review: Very funny! If someone gives this a bad review ignore they just don't get the jokes. Some people don't want to see it because of the toilet humor but most of it isn't that. The hidden jokes are funny and to get them you have to watch carefully. For example: Carrey leaves with the elaborately decorated van and comes back to the angry Daniels with a little motorized bike and carrey seriously says, "traded it back in a town a few miles a go. We can get 3 miles to the gallon on this hog".
