Summary: My favorite movie of all time
Review: This is my favorite movie of all time, so the film itself gets 5+ stars. While most of the extras on the DVD are great, my overall rating gets bumped to a 4, simply because the commentary portion could've been SO GREAT, but it falls way short.

As many people have mentioned, all of the best tidbits are already included in the documentary, and there are portions where for 10 minutes, there's no commentary at all. And then Rob Reiner's deep, sleep-inducing voice does return to add some sort of self-evident observation (e.g. "the conversation they're having about men and women being friends is something a lot of people wonder about..."), you just want him to GO AWAY! All I kept thinking is how great and entertaining it would if Billy Crystal were sitting next to him along with Nora Ephron and Meg Ryan and the rest of the cast.

Definitely a fantastic movie with a good half-hour making-of documentary and some interesting, although short, deleted scenes. Maybe we'll be lucky and one day they'll redo the commentary!!

Summary: Just Beautiful!
Review: With its incredibly pleasing ardor, When Harry Met Sally...captured me in 1990 and has had a hold on me ever since. I've watched this glorious film countless times, and the DVD version has only increased my passion for it, "taking me to a place I've never been before." Widescreen...lustrous colors (especially the colors of a New York autumn)...what I've missed all these years! We follow the course of Harry and Sally's relationship over a period of years and come to care very much about them (and their endearing eccentricities that hold true even as they themselves change over time). We want them to be happy. Climactic New Year's Eve scene bring's tears to my eyes again and again. Harry and Sally find what we all hope and long for. Off-beat, against the grain romantic comedy with knowing Nora Ephron dialogue represents Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan's best work. Exceptional musical arrangement makes the best use of the talents of Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Harry Connick, Jr., and others.

Summary: Just a little extra
Review: This is more a review of the DVD than the movie. I have owned the VHS of this movie since 1990 and have almost worn it out. I have been waiting for it to come to DVD and wondered what was taking so long. I must say it was worth the wait. I received the DVD yesterday and it was the best $17 I have spent in a long time. The movie is the same old enjoyable Harry and Sally but the extra's are great. There are about 10 deleted scenes that are very funny and there is the "It Had to be You" video but the best thing for a person that enjoys this movie is the commentary by Rob Reiner. It's as if Rob came over the visit and you started watching his movie and he wants to fill you in on how everything came about when making the movie. In the commentary edition Rob will speak over the dialog and tell you what he was thinking when he did a particular scene or who came up with the scene. The movie never stops in this setting nor is the dialog ever muted you can still hear Harry and Sally in the background as Rob talks as if he is sitting beside you and fills you in on all the pieces that make up this wonderful movie. Once again, the best $17 I've spent in a long time.

Summary: warm and witty.
Review: When Harry Met Sally is a splendid comedy. Its witty, insightful script draws you in from the first minute. And Reiner gives the whole movie a classic-style gloss, that recalls some of the classic relationship comedies of the forties and fifties. Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan have never been more likeable, and there is an able supporting cast, including the excellent Carrie Fisher. It is rare these days for Hollywood to make a movie so memorable, sharp and endlessly quotable. And it is genuinely warm, without being cloying. A must.

Summary: This DVD was worth waiting for.
Review: When Harry Met Sally is the best romantic comedy ever. Meg Ryan is gorgeous and Billy Crystal is charming. It's about Harry, just a normal guy, who dates beautiful women, while developing a friendship with Sally. The chemistry between the two is what makes this movie. From a guy's viewpoint, you wonder if Harry can have his cake and eat it too- to sleep with many women while the one you truly love waits idly by. (Sally is much less promiscuous, and dates for different reasons) Unfortunately though, this rarely works in real life, but maybe it will in the movies... The music sounds great and the picture is up to the quality you'd expect from a DVD. The movie itself is in its original form with the deleted scenes included in a separate category with the extras. They are interesting, but Rob made the right choice to exclude them because the movie Is better without them. Other extras include trailers, interviews and a music video. All of which make it complete. This is a great movie to watch alone or with loved ones. It also has excellent replay value and therefore I recommend owning it. You won't be disappointed.

Summary: Ephron Or Not
Review: I could not care less if this was made by Nora Ephron or Oliver Stone (No disrespect meant to these artists). For me, this one of the better scripted romantic comedies of the past century. I particularly do not care if this movie is liked or hated by the others. This movie is not perfect but I think that the replay value of this movie is higher than "Sleepless In Seattle's". Good script, music, acting and direction makes this an above average flick. Considering that I like movies such as Apocalypse Now, 2001 and Pulp Fiction, this has to be somekind of a great movie.

Summary: There is no excuse for any Nora Ephron movie
Review: Anything involving an Ephron siter and Meg Ryan needs to be avoided at all costs by any film fan sporting an IQ over 16. Aside from the classic "climax" scene (which was improvised by Ryan and not part of the original script) this is predictable Hollywood hogwash. Throw this DVD in the trash next to Hanging Up, You've Got Mail and Sleepless in Seattle. They are all the same movie - the same BAD movie.

Summary: Does Harry really meet Sally?
Review: Yes, he does. At last the DVD of this film has been released. Rob Reiner, Meg Ryan, Billy Crystal...my god, what a team, and the film shows it too. The direction of how the love between these two characters grow is so beautifully shown here. The chemistry between Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal on screen is simply amazing. This romantic comedy is well made and deservedly well liked by many. The change of their hair is one of the ways the passing of time is expressed. I've been waiting for so long for the DVD to come and here it is. Guys and girls can learn a few lessons about relationships from this film. Buy this film if you like at least one of these things:- a)Meg Ryan b)Billy Crystal c)Rob Reiner Films d)Beautiful romantic comedies e)films

Summary: A staple of romance and comedy in any collection
Review: What can I say about a movie that is so touching to me inside and out. I have gotten tingles from it. It is slow it is fast it varies in so many different directions and each time the romance is something different to me. I have watched more movies than I can recollect and know that this movie shows a direct understanding of what a relationship really is. Falling in love may be an 'at-first-glance' thing but in most cases it is something that develops over time. This movie portrays that and most definately the reality of what can happen between two people over time. It gives a sense to how things should be and certainly how I would want them. I mean really how many days are spent in life by oneself. I felt it really capture the sense of alone that most people get in their lives at one point or another. I know I am only 23 and have barely only begun to feel that over the course of mine. I have indulged myself many times with a deck of cards as Billy Crystal does and certainly have attempted to feel as he does. This movie is long but well worth the wait and certainly with the combination of humour and sorrow and reality in life it presents itself as a favorite in my collection. I can't wait till the DVD comes out and I can see the 11 extra minutes.

Summary: Great Movie with Great Extras
Review: This is a classic movie that has been long overdue on DVD. I got my copy in the mail today and the extras are great. My only complaint is that there were not any current interviews with Meg Ryan. The commentary by Rob Reiner is good, but there are lots of sections of the movie that he doesn't say anything.

Meg Ryan is my favorite actress and this was my favorite movie of hers until City of Angels came out. This a must buy for anyone that loves Meg or Billy or owns this movie on VHS. The DVD truely represents it well. I would really be excited if they rerelease it in a couple years with a commentary with Billy and Meg.
