Summary: la la la!
Review: Pee Wee's Big Adventure rocks! Why? Because it's about nothing more than a funny overgrown child recovering his stolen bike and having a plethora of adventures on the way. Forget convoluted storylines --- all Pee Wee has to do is travel to the Alamo (as advised by a fortune teller) and get the bike.

This movie is renown for great humor as Pee Wee travels across the country. Some of the best:

*Hitch-hiking with the dead trucker Large Marge.
*Dancing to "Tequila" on a bar after bikers force him to.
"Dressing as a girl to get out of a speeding ticket.
*Proving he is in Texas to Dottie on a payphone by singing "The stars at night! Are big and bright!" Whereupon all passers-by stop, clap and sing "Deep in the heart of Texas!"
*The great bike chase across several movie lots.

And let's not forget such classic lines as:

There's no basement in the Alamo! (I guess it's just one of those things they don't teach you in school, you have to find out for yourself.)

I know you are but what am I?

Francis is taking his bath. Oh yeah? Where are they hosing him down?

Take a picture! It will last longer!

SHHHHH! I'm trying to use the phone!

I meant to do that.

This movie is 17 years old but the humor is classic!

Summary: Tim Burton + Pee-Wee Herman = One HILARIOUS Movie
Review: Few are aware that the talents of Tim Burton produced this wacky story of a suit and bow-tie wearing grown-up kid (or a kid grown-up) on a quest to recover his lost, tricked-out bicycle.

When Pee-Wee's rich "friend" Francis wants Pee-Wee's treasured bicycle--a red and white bike with gadgets that would make James Bond proud--as a birthday present, the big adventure begins. In search of the stolen bike, Pee-Wee heads off for the Alamo on the advice of a ... fortune teller, hitchhikes with a felon and later a ghost, and eventually leads a willy-nilly chase across the Warner Brothers studio lot that results in the making of his movie.

Fans of Pee-Wee Herman's children's television show already know what kind of insanity to expect, but Tim Burton's involvement takes the film to another level. No longer just a children's show, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure is a fun family film that everyone will enjoy and laugh over and over at.

Summary: Pee-Wee Herman is just so corny!
Review: Pee-Wee Herman. He's a bit corny - but this movie is hilarious! Light hearted fun, with a plot just as goofy.
The one caution :: You can find this DVD new in many stores now for as little as $5.99...so don't pay too much!

Summary: "Ha-ha! Heheheheheheh..."
Review: Pee-Wee's famous laugh still manages to crack me up more than most things which people consider to be funny. Before the whole scandal surrounding Paul Reubens' public... err, display, he was entertaining kids all around the globe with his saturday morning show, "Pee-Wee's Playhouse." That show was a gem in it's own right, but this is Pee-Wee at his most childish, naive best.

The plot is as follows - a weird man-boy loses his bike and goes on a cross country road trip desperately trying to recover it. It's dumb, but it works. This is a simple movie which finds enough room for outrageous situations (the most crazy one being the studio lot chase). I mean, where else are you going to see Godzilla ride in a sleigh with Santa Claus? From start to finish, the film is quite a kick and can be enjoyed by anyone of any age. By never taking itself seriously, it does what it's supposed to do: entetain.

This was Tim Burton's debut studio film. While not quite as dark as his later efforts, he still manages to include some pretty bizarre and scary sequences (Large Marge and Pee-Wee's nightmares about his bike). But in some ways, this is an ultimate Burton flick. There are colorful backdrops which coincide with Danny Elfman's weird scoring, like Edward Scissorhands, and it blends splendidly. And, like Edward Scissorhands or Beetlejuice, no matter how dark it gets, you still get the impression that it's a very high-spirited movie. I don't know about the rest of you, but I think this is one of Tim Burton's crowning achievments.

The DVD is also pretty good, considering it was distributed by Warner Bros. If you've never seen "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure" before, you know you're in for some madcap antics once the main menu pops up and you witness Pee-Wee fly back and fourth on his bike, laughing hysterically. Special features include two commentaries, deleted scenes, storyboards, cast & crew bios and a theatrical trailer. This is a great DVD to buy, and if you grew up with Pee-Wee, get ready to be magically whisked back to your childhood. I had a smile on my face for the entire length of the movie.

"I pity the fool who doesn't eat my cereal! Ha-ha! Heheheheheh..."

Summary: This is cool!
Review: This is SO cool! I was looking for those "Omen" movies, and guess what pops up? Yup, "Pee Wee's Big Adventure!" I mean, I KNOW that Pee Wee...ahem...movies have been...naughty, but is he really the antichrist?

Summary: Lost Bike Equals 'Big Adventure'!
Review: "The stars at night are big and bright, deep in the heart of Texas!" Pure eternity! Tim Burton has the aptitude of a whiz kid! Paul Reubens is immortal as the forever hilarious Pee-Wee Herman. "Good morning, Mr. Breakfast!" YES, talk to those pancakes and Mr. T cereal. Deity! Pee-Wee lost his ultra cool bike to the fat Frances, ultra fat guy. Pee-Wee uses magic toys and travels to the Alamo and the Warner Bros. Studios to wreak havoc. He is my idol! Pure superior to the human race! Tim Burton hasn't made a masterpiece in a long time such as this. "Beetlejuice" was decent and "Mars Attacks!" was comical, but this movie will go down in history as the greatest comedy ever made. Ever-lasting joy! Pee-Wee shows the kind of relationship with his bike that mothers and children should have. Forget "Big Top Pee-Wee," I love this movie and I will support Pee-Wee until I'm on my deathbed where my last request will be to watch "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure" and to have a pancake breakfast made into a happy face. "I pity the fool who don't like this movie!"

Summary: Classic!
Review: This epic comedy adventure begins with Pee-Wee getting out of bed and playing with his toys like a normal...whatever he is. He fixes himself and his dog Speck breakfast with a fancy breakfast-making contraption and weighs himself. The scale reads 98 lbs. and gives him the ominous daily horoscope "Don't leave the house today."

Of course, our hero ignores this advice so he can go to the store and pick up the horn for his bike. He parks his bicycle, visits the Magic Shop, then to Chuck's Bike-O-Rama. But when he comes back, his treasured bike has been stolen!

To begin his search for his bike, he sees a fortune teller, who tells him it's in the basement of the Alamo. This starts him on his journey, which has him hitching rides with convicts and phantom truck drivers; working in a restaurant; riding bucking broncos; hanging out with bikers; and finally, ending up at Warner Bros. Studios. He knows that his bike is there, but getting it back won't be easy!

Tim Burton's over-dramatic directing gives the movie a feeling more like a cartoon than a live-action movie, and Reubens' acting is great. The plot is simple yet exciting, since there's always a good joke or something interesting happening. Danny Elfman's lively score for the movie is the perfect accent to the adventure.

This is my pick for one of the greatest movies of all time.

Summary: His Face Looked Like This....
Review: I know that this sounds pretty silly, but this movie scared me more than anything. I don't remember much of the movie, except for one scene.....LARGE MARGE. I must have been at least 3 or 4 when I saw it, but that was still terrifying. This is not a child's movie, but if you want your kid to see it, I'd skip the Large Marge scene. Come on people, her face EXPLODES. It's not for kids! Bravo to Tim Burton though, being scared of this movie has actually been one of my favorite experiences.
