Rating: Summary: Comedy at its best! Review: I have almost completely memorized every line from this film. From "I shot the clerk?" to "the two Yutes", every line is priceless. In two words: Its Hilarious!
Rating: Summary: NORTH meets SOUTHERN JUSTICE Review: When his cousin (Ralph Macchio) is arrested for murdering a store clerk, a Brooklyn lawyer (Joe Pesci) travels south to take the case. Sure, a New Yorker likes to shovel a few shortcuts. But southern justice is not casual or backwards as FRED GWYNNE, the judge, repeatedly makes clear. Good mystery, terrific comedy, engaging story. Pesci--the lawyer and his girlfriend (Marcia Tomei) are a terrific comedy team, the couple from hell. This is the type of film to be seen over and over and not misviewed from chop-shop TV-Network versions.
Rating: Summary: Don't Drink Water! Review: This movie is soooo funny I almost...well....I want this critique posted so I'll let you fill in the blank! I have been a VERY BIG fan of Ralph Macchio since I was a teenager over 15 years ago. Needless to say, I just had to see this movie when it came out. I died laughing. It's as simple as that. Mr. Macchio, of course, wasn't the only humorous actor/character in the movie. Marisa Tomei's foot-stomping, "my biological clock is ticking" scene is probably what won her the award. Every woman in America, who is at THAT stage in her life most likely thought "That's me up there" when they saw it. Having lived in the country most of my life allowed me to laugh at the "city folk" and how they had to learn to transition themselves to life in the boonies ("What is a grit?"). I haven't viewed my video in a while (but almost bought a copy of it at the store last night-mine is taped from TV) but thinking about it makes me want to find it and have myself a good laugh. I promise that you will find this movie hilarious and if you don't, I question your lack of a sense of humor. :-)
Rating: Summary: Charming, low-key humor Review: A change of pace: an American comedy that actually works by being funny instead of gross. Penned by RUTHLESS PEOPLE scribe Dale Launer, the story follows the exploits of two young men busted wrongly for sticking up a convenience store. Desperate for help, they phone in cousin Vinny, who has to do a good deal of faking it to convince people he is a lawyer. Smart script gets its laughs through carefully-observed character rather than pratfalls. A rare gem.
Rating: Summary: What is there *not* to love? Review: This is an outrageously funny movie. When I first saw it, I was not expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised at the wildly funny humor, great lines, good actors, etc. Mona Lisa Vito's (played by Marisa Tomei) testimony as an expert witness was great. That was my favorite part of the whole movie. And as a prior post said - the cast is exceptional. Fred Gwynne plays the part of the equitable, but impatient Southern judge , Lane Smith (one of my favorite actors) is the hihgly professional, super smart prosecuting attorney. And of course, who could play a ne'er do well New York attorney better than Joe Pesci (as Vincent Gambini)? It is a funny, funny flick. This is worth seeing two or three *more* times, just to catch all the fast funnies that slip by you the first time.
Rating: Summary: Are you tryina mock me with .... Review: Simply amazing! Joe Pesci and Marisa Tomei are hot together and they have a good chemistry. Check it out :)
Rating: Summary: One of the best comedies ever made. Review: This grossly under-rated film really merits "an all time great" rating. The film deserves high praise because in addition the the great performances by Pesci, Tomei and the ENTIRE cast, it is a very well crafted film in all aspects. Its various components(i.e. editing, art direction, cinematography, music etc.) come together perfectly making this a gem of a film. Most comedies insult the viewer's intelligence; however My Cousin Vinny is refreshingly witty. Can't wait until it is released on DVD!
Rating: Summary: The Funniest Movie I Have Ever Seen Review: Joe Pesci wonderfully plays fresh out-of-Law School lawyer Vincent Gambini. He is asked to come to Alabama, and defend his cousin and a friend accused of murder. He is wonderfully humorous while trying to prove their innocence. He faces obstacles from Fred Gwynne's Judge Chamberlain Haller, which was wonderfully acted. As well as competition from Lane Smith's Prosecuting Attorney Jim Trotter III, also wonderfully acted. Marisa Tomei is excellent as Vinny's fiance, Mona Lisa Vito. That part won Tomei a Best Supporting Actress Award. This is a great film, thanks to great casting and a great storyline. I highly recommend this film to anyone who wants to laugh nonstop for two hours.
Rating: Summary: THE FUNNIEST MOVIE EVER! - NO JOKE! Review: This really is my favorite comedy ever. All of the performances are fantastic especially Joe Pesci, Marissa Tomei and the judge. If you havent seen it I recomend you do so - it is a great film to watch when you're miserable! Also when is it coming out on DVD? A film as good as this has to be on DVD!
Rating: Summary: If you haven't seen it, you are missing out! Review: The funniest movie of all! The accents are so perfect, I spent 17 years in NJ/NY so believe me, it hits home. Basic story is this; two kids traveling through the deep South to their college destination are picked up for murder after being mistaken for the actual murderers. Vinny is then called upon...a "six times a charm" family lawyer who has never set foot in the court room. What he goes through, 'bein from New Yawk an awl', in the South is all too funny. His girlfriend Mona Lisa Vito is a hoot. She has the typical attitude and the way she yells at Vinny, after he asks what pants he should wear to hunt "dea" (dear), is the best! If you don't like this movie, rethink your sense of humor. Of course there is a happy ending, but how thing evolve is the fabulous part. Please do not miss this one!
