Rating: Summary: GREAT Movie but unrated version not different Review: I saw American Pie in the movie theaters and thought it was a real funny story line. I bought the dvd unrated version and didn't notice much on it that wasn't in the theater version. Just when he is on the kitchen island on top of the pie. That is all I noticed left out of the theater version.
Rating: Summary: Surprising experience Review: This is by no mean an epic, but it IS a nice little film about growing up and friendship, with lots of laughs along the way.The marks for character development and emotional depth is surprisingly high for drama of this genre, and the acting is pleasantly uncommercial and well done. All in all the film was a surprisingly moving experience and I unabashfully echo, "here is to the next step."
Rating: Summary: Rent this one Review: I took a risk and bought this movie without ever seeing it thinking it would be a reliable laugh. Unfortunatly, while it was very funny, the humor was focused on suprising sight gags, and after you see it once it loses its charm. Also, if they rated the unrated vserion it would be R, it is extremmly tame, people i watched it with only noticed a few deleted scenes, and the outtakes are short and pointless. ah well.
Rating: Summary: GREAT FLICK...BUT A DEFECT ON DVD? Review: I loved this movie in the theatres and couldn't wait for it to show up on DVD. I bought this the first day it came out. I got the UNRATED version by the way. At the end of Chapter 15 (or is it 16) as Jim is walking towards Stifler's pad with the band geek, there is a NOTICEABLE freeze in the film. It is even more noticeable when viewed it on the audio commentary mode. I returned it and got a replacement and THE 2ND ONE HAD THE FREEZE TOO! Is this common on ALL the DVD's? Is this a defect or is this a result of switching to a 2nd layer? Please feel free to write to me at saltypnuts@aol.com
Rating: Summary: boring..porkys was better Review: i had heard how funny this movie was and rushed to buy it on its release date. now i wish i could return it and get my money back. this was the biggest disappointment of 1999!
Rating: Summary: American Pie-Unrated Version Review: Out of all the high school movies that came out this year; such as, 10 Things I Hate About You, Never Been Kissed, She's All That, Can't Hardly Wait and others, this was the best. It was also the most vulgar (the others being PG-13). The humor kept me attentive all through the movie, especially being in a movie theater where everyone is laughing. There was great character development in all the characters. Each had something you can relate with. The biggest disappointment to me was the difference between the rated R version and the unrated version. It was very minimal; in fact, it was only the pie scene. But if you're going to buy one, you might as well get the unrated version.
Rating: Summary: I'd hate to see the rated version Review: The movie was mildly amusing, but if are expecting to see more skin in the unrated version, don't bother. The movie wasn't quite painful to watch, but came very close.
Rating: Summary: American Pie Review: Funniest movie of this genre since "Fast Times..."
Rating: Summary: A Porky's for the New Millenium Review: If you think that's a recommendation, you will probably enjoy this obvious and amateurish movie. The second star is for Eugene Levy's funny performance as the the lead idiot's father, and for the storyline about the jock-turned-singer which was the only interesting part of the plot. Fast Times at Ridgemont High is still the best in this genre.
Rating: Summary: YEAH! FInally! The worst film of the millenium! Review: I did not know one could write, produce and especially direct a film like this one. The accumulation of unbearable (I hope this film does not reflect the average American suburban precollege teen) nonsense is hardly imaginable. I am really sorry about those people who liked this film and especially two things: a. the dichotomy between explicit verbal sex and the absolute absence of any realistic love scene (I would be very astonished if every single American teen is negotiating his First Time like this). b. the stereotypical image of the east-European girl. Although Nadia was really amazing (but a bit too solarium burnt and silicon breasted for being a Check or Slovakian girl (note for the scriptwriter: there is no Checkoslovakia any more), I wonder why she was the only one who had to get naked (and no American girl or guy)! Well that's it. Thanks for reading and sorry for those who might like the film.
