Summary: You Dirty Rotten Scoundrel!
Review: Steve Martin has done it again. Another hilarious movie! It's about these 2 con-men who scam women for their money. Freddy Benson is a crass, loud American. Laurence Jameson is a suave, urbane European. Their common ground is that they both are confidence men, and they meet in a train compartment as Benson is scamming his way across Europe, taking advantage of women's generosity. The two are forced into a rivalry, which culminates in a wager to see who can be the first to bilk $50,000 out of American heiress Janet Colgate. Then comes a twist ending that'll leave you cracking up for days. This is a must see for anyone who has good taste in movies. Buy it!

Summary: Great
Review: this is a smart, creative comedy that keeps you enthralled and laughing all the way through. Both Steve Martin and Michael Caine do a wonderful job in their somewhat archetypal roles, one as a crass american and the other as an educated, prim european. both are con men that meet head on and get into a bet to see who can get $50,000 out of an unlucky woman. the ending offers a nice twist and the film overall offers great laughs.

Summary: Ruprict Rules!
Review: Any movie that includes the line,"Ruprict, do I have to get the genital cuff?" is a definate must. Steve Martin doing physical comedy and a pretty good plot for a silly movie. I've watched it a billion times.

Summary: Great fun !
Review: This is one of my all time favorite movies, which I consider very funny. This is one of the few opportunities in which you get to see a great drama actor like Michael Caine playing comedy and performing wonderfully. Steve Martin, of course, is a natural at this. The combination of both Caine (as the elegant and sophisticated gentleman) and Martin (as the low-life, street-wise guy) worked wonders for the movie. This is great entertainment from the beginning to the end.... and with an unexpected ending!
Highly recommended if you want to have a few laughs.

Summary: One Of My Favorite Movies.
Review: Why is the cork on the fork?

This is my favorite Steve Martin comedy. It's smarter than anything else he's done, appeals to my sense of humor, and still has some crazy stuff, like Ruprecht the monkey boy.

Once you suspend disbelief and settle yourself comfortably in this story, you'll have a really fun couple of hours.

One of the few comedies I can see over and over (like 'Pillow Talk' or 'Noises Off'). A good one to own, since you never have to cover your kids' eyes or ears.

Summary: Best of both worlds
Review: "Best of both worlds" There's no other way to describe how hilarious, fun and brilliant are this couple acting together. Remember the chemical reaction between John Cleese and Kevin Kline hand in hand in a Fish Call Wanda? This is exactly the same kind of high comedy. You will laugh until tears in lot of scenes, maybe one of the best is the moment in which Caine inflicts punishment to Martin in his knees. Don't miss this film. The script is good, the rythm is perfect, the colour in the DVD edition is crispy and sharp. A ten over ten. My only objection is that there are no extra features besides the film. Buy it and enjoy over and over...!!!

Summary: dirty rotten scoundrels
Review: an absolute classic....con movie supreme. Caine and Martin at their best.A rare remake that outperforms the original which starred Brando!

Summary: Scandalously Funny
Review: Steve Martin and Michael Caine try to outdo each other in the swindling department. Along the way they give us a very funny movie. This was a very successful pairing of the two actors. Caine plays a high end swindler, while Steve Marin is an on the go, fast-working crook. They both want to have monopoly on a push European resort and neither of them is able to get it.

The ending is great. People like people with common interests, even "crooks." I enjoyed this movie very much.

Summary: Martin + Caine = Smart Comedy
Review: Steve Martin is THE master. The days of stand-up comedy in a white suit with a rubber arrow thru his head are long gone. The days of playing the banjo on a small wooden stage at Knottsberry Farm in southern California are even longer gone. I still think of classic movies like "The Jerk", "All of Me", "Planes, Trains & Automobiles" and "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid" when I reflect on the man. All are COMEDY at it's best. Here, Martin teams up with Michael Caine in this classic and way underrated 1988 comedy "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels". Both Martin (Freddy Benson) and Caine (Laurence Jameson) are clever career con artists. Jameson tho, is on a much higher level. While Benson is thinking only about where his next meal is coming from, Jameson is eating cavier on his oceanfront deck, paying off his employees, and buying expensive art for his home and the community. After the two meet, the story revolves around them meeting a lady and seeing who will be the one to scam her out of a quick $50K.... Steve Martin playing the role of "Ruprecht" (the 'special' brother) is knee slapping hilarious. Whether Caine is masking as the psychologist or the freedom fighter prince - he is clever, witty and humorous. Janet Colgate (played by Glenne Headly) does a fine job as well as lady both Jameson and Benson are trying to take advantage of. Steve Martin has been as good as his role(s) here, but never better. Great movie.
