Rating: Summary: What a pleasent suprize. Review: I really was rather suprized when I saw this movie. Coerced into seeing it by my girlfriend at the time, I figured that it would suck about as much as all the other romantic comedy crap out there, but by the end of the film I did have to grudgingly admit that it was a really good movie. Nicholson(my only reason for agreeing to watch it in the first place) was not the only decent actor in the movie as I'd expected. Actually all of the characters were very well portayed in a genuinly enjoyable film with a very good story which was invitingly different from my normal choise of movies without being sickeningly sappy. Hunt who I doubted could make a good transition from tv to the big screen was quite a good casting choise and I look forward to seeing her in other films soon. Deffinatly one of the best of the warm and funny movies of the ninties.
Rating: Summary: Electrifying, captivating by all. Review: This has got to be one of the best films ever made. I love the dog. He deserves an Oscar for his performance and his trainer should get one as well. The acting is so believable and captivating, you can't help but become involved with the characters. Nicholson played his role to the very top of his acting career and deserved his Oscar. Hunt was especially entertaining as a mother with a sick child who has been hurt before and is reluctant to start a new relationship because of her child. Gooding Jr. is an explosive talent and he showed his talents very well in this one. He keeps getting better, movie after movie. He was great in Jerry Maguire and better in this film. Hats off to all involved with this film. I am looking forward to the directors and writers next projects.
Rating: Summary: it is defintly as good as it gets Review: I'm suprised it didn't win best picture or origonal screenplay or director it was exelent enough said
Rating: Summary: Very Good, Very Romantic and Very Funny as it gets. Review: In my opinion, this is the second movie of Nicholson since One Flew Over The Cookoo's Nest which he deserves his 1997 Oscar for Best Actor. Helen Hunt is also pretty but strong. The trip of Nicholson, Hunt and Kinnear who plays the role as a gay artist is the most impressive and outstanding point of the movie. One of my 'MUST-SEE' comedy films.
Rating: Summary: This IS as good as it gets! Review: The best romantic comedy to come along in years! It was absolutely wonderful, with smart jokes and inteligent dialogue. With such a wide diversity of characters, it made you enjoy every one of them. Unlike other movies, particularly most action movies, these characters seemed realistic, themselves, and overall enjoyable. The actors fit their parts well. Jack Nicholson was absolutely hilarious and enjoyable. Helen Hunt was at her top-notch best and fit her role perfectly. I've never seen Greg Kinnear so into his role, and I'm surprised that Cuba Gooding, Jr. wasn't nominated for another Oscar. That guy is so funny. This is the must-see movie of the nineties! Great fun and great laughs.
Rating: Summary: As Good As It Gets was fabulous and "as good as it gets" Review: I loved the movie. I think that Helen Hunt did wonderful acting, and Kinnear did the acting very well. Jack N. was goofy Jack N., though serious in the serious parts of the movie. All the actors deserve an Oscar Award.
Rating: Summary: A film that lives up to its title. Review: I loved it. It's funny and great. Enough said

It's One Of Those Movie You'll Never Get Tire Of And It Really Is As Good As It Gets For The Motion Picture Buiness
Rating: Summary: Oscar-worthy? Hell NO! Review: Oh, please! Oscars for Nicholson and Hunt for this film...? Shocking! Robert Duvall (remarkable in "The Apostle") and Helena Bonham Carter (magnificent in "The Wings of the Dove") were robbed at the 1998 Oscar ceremonies. Nicholson played Nicholson. And Hunt...don't get me started on that one...! "Someone please comb that woman's hair!", I wanted to scream at the screen (in between glancing at my watch and longing for a cigarette, which I had long before quit). The writing sucked. Hey, James L. Brooks, what was that little roadtrip to Baltimore about? Did it not strain credulity that the gay guy (OK, Greg Kinnear is cute) would hop in the car and drive to Baltimore instead of picking up the phone and calling mom and dad? Answer: Yes. It was not a very clever way of trapping our three leads in a car so they can bond and be adorable. I loathed this movie and will lobby Congress to pass a law banning James L. Brooks from ever making another cutesie-wutesie movie.
Rating: Summary: Very enjoyable film, but had it's bad point...Helen Hunt Review: Jack N. is an extremely talented actor and did a great job as usual in this movie, but his performance didn't blow me away, and I thought it was too easy a part for him to play to win the oscar for it.I can describe Helen Hunt's performance in one word: TERRIBLE. I love her on Mad About You but I think she should stick to the sitcoms. Her acting in this movie is about the only thing wrong with it.I've seen her do dramatic acting on her TV show and it was fine...quite good actually.I don't know what went wrong with this movie and I'm disgusted that she won the oscar. The dog was GREAT. He deserved the oscar. Greg Kinnear blew me away with his portrayl of the lonely gay neighbor and I thought he was wonderful in the part, which was very different then anything else I'd seen him in. The story was great but Jack's obsessive compulsive behavior was nothing compared to what people in real life with the disorder go through, and that bothered me a bit. Overall it's a very good film which I recomend if you can stand Helen Hunt.
