Rating: Summary: Gets off slow, but certainly delivers. Review: A Walk To Rember didn't seem like my kind of movie. I thought it was a recycle of Here on Earth, or a movie like that. As it started, I was right. The first half hour or so is very typical and uninteresting in my opinion. You have the sterio-typical popular clic, and the popular girl who tortures the nerdy girl for being around the boy she likes. Straight out of She's All That, but this movie is far from the usual boy makes nerdy girl beautiful and takes her to the prom movie. As Mandy's character, Jamie and Shane West's character connect, it is beleivable. It turns really old fashioned, like this movie could have been made in the 40s. Jamie isn't eager to be popular and fit in, she's comfortable with herself and her faith in God. That was refreshing to see. The boy has to be patient and take things slow, with admiration and respect for her values. They did manage to doll Mandy up for a scene in a school play where she sings. That was a bit over done and theatrical in my opinion, but her voice is beautiful. It's also a real tear-jerker toward the end, so if you see it, bring some hankies. For her first lead role, Mandy Moore is just outstanding. Not your typical teen fare.
Rating: Summary: The Best and Saddest Movie I Have Ever Seen!!! Review: The reason I put 5 stars was because it had some things happen that happen to me. Like Mandy gets teased by the boys and girls but she still has other friends, I get teased by some boys and some girls but I am a little popular. The reason I called it sad was because I cried from when they found out she had cancer intill the end. Another reason I loved it was because Mandy is so Pretty and Shane West is the hottest guy I have ever seen. So if you are reading this shane I am single! LOL! Any Way I want every one to see and buy this movie! Your Friend, Kasey
Rating: Summary: Wonderful and still heartwarming, if not exactly the book... Review: I recently read Nicolas Sparks's novel version, fell in love with it, and saw the movie adaptation this afternoon. While it's not exactly the book, Warner Bros.' "Walk to Remember" is still the heartwarmer that the book is, and that in itself is enough to earn it five stars. I. PLOT SUMMARY When gangster Landon Carter gets busted, as punishment he must do community service -- including mandatory perticipation in the spring school play. Each community service assignment he does seems to bring him more and more in contact with Jamie Sullivan, the daughter of the town's Baptist minister. Although she is shunned at school and considered an outsider, they fall in love, and she changes him as a person. II. OPINION Speaking as if I hadn't read the book, this is a WONDERFUL movie. Speaking as a person who has read the book, this is a WONDERFUL movie. Although the movie updates the story to the 90's (the book was set in 1958), erases the holiday theme, and changes many other things, the basic plot is still there. Mandy Moore does a "marvelous" job as Jamie (if you've read the book, you'll get the joke there), as does Shane West as Landon. The story is still a tearjerker, and because of the decade change the movie might appeal to a broader audience. Be warned, though: The movie contains some foul language, and plot elements are not sutible for young children. III. WHAT TO DO While the movie is supurb, the book is (as always) better, so I would reccomend reading it first. After you've done that, go enjoy this film. And buy the soundtrack too - the Mandy Moore tunes are especially good, but it's all very easy to listen to and enjoyable. TOTAL: **** (4/5) for changing and altering the book's story. Otherwise very good. Highly reccomended.
Rating: Summary: The movie got my vote Review: First of all i have to say that shane west was so hot in this film, but a lot of people thought that, that was all he was. To me the movie was one of the best we have out today because there was basically no 'sex' talk in it or a whole lot of profanity. Mandy Moore did such a great job in her first leading role, the movie was very powerful and after seeing it 2x in 2 days i still cried my eyes out, just like the other wrote in his book, "first you will laugh and then you will cry, dont say i didnt warn you". I am 14 and all my friends saw it and we all loved it we all think that it should and will do better than britney spear's movie because for once in a while there is a great movie with a powerful script and its for the whole family, i cant wait till it comes out on film because when it does i will the first person to go out and buy it. So for all of you who are thinking about seeing it i recomend it as oscar material because even though its more of a chick flick nobody will be disappointed in it, but let me warn you, you WILL most likely cry.
Rating: Summary: I loved this movie! Review: This is such a good movie. I just saw it yesterday and I was amazed at the amazing performance mandy moore gave. I always thought that music artists should stick to singing and they shouldn't be in movies. This movie ompletley changed my mind. It was so meaningful that i see my life in a new view. You may think that this movie is a "chick flick" but i think evryone can relate to it in some way or the other. It's a story that teaches you about love, friendship, and life. This is an amazing movie and you have to go see it today!
Rating: Summary: A Walk to remember Review: This Story is very sad, and very good at the same time. Usually movies go in one ear and out another. The information goes straight to your head. But this one is different. The information goes straight to your heart, and it stays there. I remember when the movie was over, the theater was speechless, no one said anything. I strongly reccomend going to see this movie. It talks about true love and how you can never know a person, until you get to know them. I admit it is very sad, but I don't think I would have liked it as much if that hadn't happened. It proves something. That Love is never broken by death.
Rating: Summary: Can you say pass the Kleenex? Review: I might be 6'5" and 250 pounds but I cried like a BABY!!! It was a really great movie. Mandy was terrific in her role. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: A Beautiful Film! Bravo Mandy Moore! Review: What a beautiful movie. I was shocked to have enjoyed it so much. Main reason for this is because of Mandy Moores sweet and sincere potrayel of Jamie, high school loner. She is so believable, so subtle in her expressions, so likeable. I thought she would be terrible, due to past performances from pop stars ( Madonna and Mariah) but Mandy shows more depth than the 2 of them put together. Shane West is just as good as bad baoy Carter who falls in love with her. The movie is sweet and romantic and is sure to get a couple of Ahhhs!!! from the crowd. If you havenn't read the book, I suggest not doing so before seeing this film. It was nice not knowing a few things that happen throughout the film, especially the end. Overall, a lovely film filled with wonderful performances that I would definelty see again.
Rating: Summary: Totally Awsome! Review: OMG i loved this movie! It was so great! Shane West was an awsome "Landon Carter" and Mandy Moore was a perfect "Jamie Sullivan". Shane and Mandy worked so well together it really looked like they were meant for those parts and for eachother! I think Shane looked so hott in the movie and Mandy was just adorable! The movie was so cute and very emotional! I loved the book, but not as much as I loved this movie! I can't really explain how good it was, so you'll just have to see it and judge for yourself! I'll definately see it again and I plan on buying "A Walk to Remember" ASAP!!!
Rating: Summary: The best "Teen" movie of all time! Review: The main reasons I wanted to see "A Walk to Remember" were (1) Mandy Moore is in it (Wasn't she great in "The Princess Diaries"?) (2) I love teen romances and sad movies and (3) It was based on what sounded like a great book. I was not disappointed. The plot was great and had several twists. Mandy Moore acted well and played a very likeable character (by the way, she has a part where she sings "Only Hope" which is a really pretty song). Shane West's character Landon (who has a lot more scenes and lines than Jamie, Mandy Moore's character) is interesting. At first he's a troubled, popular, teenager. But then Jamie's influence starts to change him. The end up falling in love and... well, you'll have to see what happens. The one thing that wasn't explained very well was how quickly Jamie and Landon fell in love. It didn't seem like very long from when they first start talking and when they tell each other they love each other. Other than that, the movie was great. I was tearing up for the last fifteen minutes. Why was I crying? Well, I guess you'll just have to see the movie and find out. I would definetly recommend it. Hey- even my dad loved it, and he thought it was going to be another cheesy teen flick where the school reject and popular kid fall in love. But he was wrong!
