Summary: Mandy Moore Steals the Show
Review: I will be the first to admit that the book A Walk to Remember wasn't my favorite Nicholas Sparks novel, and I was a little annoyed they were turning it into a teen sugar pop movie. I was prepared to hate it.

But sitting in the movie theater with all my friends, I was pleasantly suprised.

Mandy Moore shows us that she is not just an airhead pop singer, but an actress, and a good one at that. I walked away from the theater with a new respect for the eighteen year old celebrity.

I also walked away with a handful of used tissues and tear stained cheeks. So be prepared to cry!

Summary: Beautiful...a Classic in the Making
Review: First off, please pay no heed to the critics on this one. They seem to have written it off as just another in a long line of typical teen films, giving it their typical (and apparently recycled) reviews for such films. In their prejudice, they fail to realize the uniqueness of this film, especially in this day and age. Sure, the story -- based on the best-selling Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name -- is nothing new: big man on campus falls in love with misunderstood misfit harboring a tragic secret. The difference here is in the presentation. Instead of the jaded, busy and noisy perspective taken by most teen films, "Walk" is quiet, gentle, full of hope.

The plot is simple enough. Popular bad-boy Landon Carter (Shane West) is sentenced to various after-school activities as punishment for his participation in a prank gone terribly wrong. Consequently, he comes into contact with do-gooder Jamie Sullivan (Mandy Moore), the preacher's daughter and school outcast. They grew up together, so he thinks he's got her all figured out; but as they spend more time together, he comes to realize that he never really knew her at all. They begin an uneasy friendship that blossoms into more. Along the way, they share some of the most romantic moments ever on film. Sadly, a tragic twist threatens to end their happiness.

The film benefits greatly from its two young leads, both of whom turn in outstanding, genuine performances. West has the difficult task of portraying a young man who undergoes a life-changing transformation from angry, aimless troublemaker to thoughtful, loving young man. His depiction is so convincing that by the end of the movie, you can actually see on Landon's face that he has indeed found inner peace from his prior internal tumult. West is especially brilliant in the school play scene where, without uttering a single word, he manages to display Landon's inner struggle over his feelings for Jamie. Quite a thing to behold. Moore is a revelation here as well. In her first lead role, she has chosen quite a difficult (and beloved) character to play, one that if not done right would inspire snickers and laughter rather than tears and sympathy. It is a tremendously challenging and pivotal role. And Moore pulls it off beautifully. Displaying strong screen presence, she shows acting range that belies her theatrical experience. She imbues Jamie with the ethereal radiance and quiet serenity required of her character (and by the novel). Rarely -- if ever -- will you see a more gentle, sincere and altogether believable portrayal of innocence. Together, these two are magic, sharing a chemistry that is not only natural and warm, but palpable and electric.

As with any film, "Walk" is not without its flaws. The directing could have been better to help in the flow of the narration. The film could have been about 15 minutes longer to sufficiently develop Jamie and Landon's relationship (though I suspect there were many deleted scenes). And it does not entirely stick to the novel. Those who have read the novel will find that there are many differences. Amazingly, however, the film still manages to capture the feel and essence of the book in that it can make your heart full and break it at the same time. Moreover, it dares to believe in faith and hope. It dares to believe in the transforming power of love. It dares to believe that young people are capable of true, intense and everlasting love. And though it happens to feature teens, it has a universal message -- and that message is up to the viewer, for it never seeks to preach.

More than just a love story, "A Walk to Remember" is anything but typical. Ultimately, it is about faith and hope...and living. No superficial make-overs or fart jokes here, folks.

Memorable, indeed.

Summary: BOTH THE FILM AND MANDY MOORE SURPRISE!
Review: I rented this film thinking that it would be an okay film and I had a couple hours to waste anyway! Was I in for Surprise. This Film is one of the Best and Most Touching Films that I have seen in a Long Time! Mandy Moore gives a surprisenly Excellent and Subtle Performance as the Goody Two Shoes Daughter of a Preacher and Shane West also Shines as The Guy who has everything going for him(or so he thinks)! The Story is great and it progresses very nicely as two people who at first dont like each other soon turn to appreciate and love one another! I dont want to give away the ending but please keep a box of tissues handy! My only complaint(and its a minor one) is that I didnt think Darryl Hannah clicked as the mother of Shane West. It wasnt so much her acting as it was that she just seemed to young play the Mom of Shane West, they should have chosen a slightly older actress that had a sense of maturity. One More Thing, Mandy honey, ditch the singing career and devote yourself full time to movies, with The Princess Diaries and A Walk To Remember you are on a Roll! And as for Britney Spears, watch this movie Brits and Learn From a Pop Singer who can act!

Summary: Sweetest Teen Love Story
Review: I personally love this movie. I saw it with my best girl friends and my boyfriend (at the time). We all loved it. Mandy made a great debut as an actress in this and I can't wait to see her in Try Seventeen. Shane, a great singer and guitarist as well as actor, did a great job playing a tough guy, but a soft sweetie.
If you liked this movie, please, check out Life as a House, a movie about a boy and his divorced parents trails and errors over becoming a family again. The boy becomes a druggie but soon learns to love in more ways then one. And check out Life or Something Like It, about a news anchor who finds out her life will soon end and does everything she can to change it. Both movies are funny and some what sad, at least in the first's case.

Summary: Shane & Mandy Rock!!!.... A Film That Changed My Look @ Life
Review: There isn't enough great things that you can say about this movei. I took my Mom(who loved the book) to see this one rainy friday night & I walked into it thinking that I would be either sitting through another typical teen movie or a chick flick. Man was I wrong! I absolutly loved this movie!!! Mandy Moore blew me away with her awesome performance as the sweet & spirit-strong "Jamie Sullivan"! She truly has an incrediable talent in both music & acting & I can't wait to see what happens to her down the road. As for Shane West he played his part as bad-boy "Landon Carter" with great acting. I liked how his character changed his perspective on life throughout the film. He was also great in this & I would expect a bright future down the road for him too. Basically these two young actors carry the film with great ease & are one of the many reasons to see this flick. The story is awesome as well! Filled with some humor, happiness, & major sadness, this movie leaves you with something special after it's all over. Something special that you will never forget. I went again to see it by myself & loved it even more then the first time. Im not into pop music at all but the soundtrack to this is amazing. Especially the two tracks "Cry" & "It's gonna be love" are my faves. There are other good ones too by Mandy & Switchfoot. This movie changed my perspective on life & its an extrodinary walk to take. I hope you choose to take it & I hope it gives as much to you as it did for me.

Summary: Excellent
Review: This movie was excellent!!! I saw it in the theature with my friend and we both were crying for most of the movie. I wouldn't suggest this movie for younger children because of some of the language in the begginning of the movie. Other than that the story was beautiful and sad. As soon as i saw the add for the movie and dvd on tv, i thought i had to have it!
