Rating: Summary: Looks like I picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue. Review: Oh, don't pay attention to those who poo poo this movie. Though everyone's entitled to his or her opinion, I can't understand where they're coming from. This movie's great! You gotta love the frisky Automatic Pilot! This movie also came out before political correctness, and I doubt a lot of the jokes in this movie would fly today. All the better! Don't like that? Hey, cut me some slack, Jack! It's definitely worth the bucks to hear Mrs. Cleaver speak jive. I can't think of a funnier man on this planet than Leslie Nielsen. When I heard the little girl describe how she likes her coffee...I about split a gut!!! Though I tend to be pretty conservative in what I will watch, I have to say this movie is great and made me laugh plenty!
Rating: Summary: I am serious, and stop calling me Shirley Review: The most consistently funny film in history, AIRPLANE is a laugh marathon. Although most have seen the film at least 86 times, so the laughter is a bit more subdued. If you have never seen the film, you are to be envied. This film has launched a plethora of knock-offs and a new freedom in comedy of which the results are seen in many of the more aggressive comedies of today. Filled with groaner puns and has-been performers the film seems to have a formula for failure but the Directing Brothers (THE ZUCKERS) mount the film most find relentlessly funny. It is not even necessary to have seen the 70s disaster films that are being spoofed. This film single-handedly relaunched the acting career of deadpan actor LESLIE NIELSEN, who was never a funny man on film, in fact he was always rather serious. Followed by a failure sequel. And that's when I developed my drinking problem' (throws water on face)
Rating: Summary: the spoof of spoofs Review: Never before have so many trashy jokes been owed to so few corny movies, I guess. This movie came in the nick of time as answer to all the hyped disaster 'epics' of the 1970's and early 80's (have you ever watched Airport 79 ? Well, don't !) The film is fast-paced, hilariously funny and refreshingly politically incorrect. My all time favorite scene in it? Definitely the sick girl and the singing nun. I will not say any more here :-) Of course, as you may gather from some other reviews, some people won't stoop so low to find this cult trash-comedy funny; well, that's their problem. My advive: Buy it, watch it, love it !!
Rating: Summary: "... and don't call me Shirley." Review: AIRPLANE made a splash when it premiered in theatres, and the waters still coming down in buckets. Moments of absolute insanity are committed to celluloid, and it works beautifully from start to finish ... even the scene tacked on after the closing credits.ON THE COMMENTARY TRACK: Some wonderful chitchat amongst the key players behind getting this film done, but the commentary does seem 'broken'; at one point, the producers refer to the fact that it was completed in multiple sittings, and the finished product -- while entertaining but less informative -- feels a tad incomplete. And don't call me Shirley.

Rating: Summary: A long time ago people thought it was funny Review: 'Airplane' spoofs all those films featuring large passenger aircrafts in big trouble and makes fun of romantic love as well. When I ordered it, I was really looking forward to watching since it features many known comedians. But I was not that much amused... In fact, nowadays I can't get the reason why I ordered it in the first place. My impression may be explained by the following : There is the kind of movie that is only funny the first time you watch it. Then there is the kind which makes you laugh more than once (in most cases, you will watch it again and again). Well, Airplane seems to be in between those two categories. The film is bizarre on first sight (and partially funny). So you want to take a second look because you think you didn't get the point the first time. After all, your friends told you about how great it is. But on second sight, it stops being funny and becomes boring. I can't recommend neither the first part nor the sequel.
Rating: Summary: Airplane...Do I Need To Say More???? Review: Airplane is the comedy classic, and the best film of 1980 for sure. The humor is funny and the acting is so good, that they should have all won academy awards. The movie is just so imaginative, and beats out all of those unfunny Monty Python movies.
Rating: Summary: The Mother of all Zucker films Review: This film is truly a classic! I mean that in a very real way. It delivers the right amount of comedy without really over doing it. Some would say it is over done, but how can a movie which stands on that concept really go over the limit. Tough to answer because I do like all films the Zuckers put out and I think the Naked Gun was a bit over done. So back to Airplane! It just hit at the right time and is as funny now as it was back then. I think adding the comedy of the film to the nostalgia I feel when I watch it now makes it that much more special. It is about a doomed airplane flight. Everyone who has eaten bad fish on the plane will die. This includes the pilots and passengers. That is not where the comedy begins. It starts during the credits. The film plays on all of the cliche's of an airport/airline/airplane etc...I love how the two stories in the film come together and how intelligently the characters are brought back from the shakey past to form one of the best airplane landings in history! Pick this one up...it is sure to tickle your funny bone. Well I gotta go because "the butta layin into the bone and it's jackin' me up."
Rating: Summary: Airplane Review: This movie is a true classic. Airplane really started movie spoofs. There are several highlights to talk about. The top three that I found are when Barbara Billingsley talks jive, when Robert Stack continues to talk when the plane is empty, and when Leslie Neilson constantly walks into the cockpit wishing the pilot goodluck. Airplane really is worth the buy. FIVE STARS all the way.
