Summary: Very Interesting and Colorful
Review: When I first saw this movie in theaters, I was verydisappointed. I was expecting alot..ALOT more. I really enjoywitchcraft and movies and book that deal with the subject. This movie did not deal with any of the organized religions dealing with witchcraft: Wicca, Paganism, shamanism, etc. It was very entertaining, and showed what witchcraft could and really is. It is the process of mind of matter. using herbs in spells, etc. the end, of course is a little over the edge, but still keeps the movie together..... END

Summary: bippity-boppity--eer..wrong movie
Review: I have watched this movie numerous times, and i always enjoy it. i tried to figure out why- because the story is quite simple ( two orphaned sisters go to live with their aunts, who teach them the power of spells, and love..etc. etc.). But i think what works, for me, is it's all done in a dramatic, yet heartwarming way. It certainly isn't a comedy, but it's not a suspense or a drama either-it's a combination that makes for an extremley entertaining 2 hours. Sandra Bullock is good in these types of roles ( tortured, melodramatic, romantic fool), her personality shines through; i think that's another reson why i enjoyed it.

Defintley worth a look, or even a few more.

Summary: Simply Magical
Review: After reading the excellent novel by Alice Hoffman, I was excited to see this movie, since rearely are there any good films made about witches, especially romantic comedies. But 'Practical Magic' is charming. Yes, Aidan Quinn could've done SO much better (he didn't seem all there), but other than that, it's great. Stockard Channing and Dianne Weist are adorable. Channing plays the delightfully abrasice aunt, while Weist is the sweet gentle one (quite a change from her role as the Wicked Queen in NBC's the 10th Kingdom). Kidman is so scatterbrained you have to love her. And, as usual, Sandra Bullock plays the reserved romantic, which suits her acting ability. You can also see ER's Goran Visjinc playing the crazed abusive boyfriend (very different from his ER character). All in all, this movie was excellent, although Quinn's performance was dull. Still worth the money.

Summary: charming
Review: This movie is adorable. We may think that there are no witches and there is no magic in real life, but who knows ... and wouldn't it be nice if there were? I wouldn't mind having some of their love potion myself. This movie makes it all believeable that magic is part of life. The plot is entertaining and quite original The special effects are convincing. Nicole Kidman is so good, she is practically bewitching! The two aunts (Dianne Weist and Stockard Channing) are also excellent. Sandra Bullock is not that great but it is because of her character -- way too nice and sweet for a witch. By the way, I am Bulgarian and I was quite amused (and scared) by the evil come-back-from-the-dead Bulgarian guy (Goran Visnjic) -- also a good performance. In general, this movie is one great piece of entertainment.

Review: Interesting and funny movie. Bond between sisters with the other charcters was enjoyable and toe tapping with some of the music. One of the few movies I would like in my homelibrary.

Summary: My Favorite
Review: Practical Magic is such a wonderful movie that you can't even describe it in words. If you like movies about witches in themes like Blair Witch Project this not really the place to look. I sugest this movie to anyone 12 years and up. This movie is more recomended more for women but at the same time this is not a "touchy-feely" movie. Enjoy!

Summary: It has 'magic moments'
Review: The story line made very little sense in any way, shape, or form. I really never cared for any of the characters either, they all seemed disjointed from each other, not really belonging together (except the aunts, they made me really believe they could be sisters). But 'magic moments' are what really made this movie worth watching. One moment is the 'lime in the coconut moment'. The music fit the scene perfectly, and it was a wonderful diversion from the otherwise muddy plot...a happy moment in their dreary, screwed up lives. I live for those carefree moments myself. The flowers growing out of the grave overnight was also one of those creepy moments that this movie begged for but rarely delivered (strange-considering the movie is about witches). And lastly, the fact that the town pulled together to help out the two women they had shunned for their whole lives was an ending worth the wait...good stuff.
