Summary: Beautiful, Fun Film
Review: This movie is fully enchanting. They really topped off a great plot when getting two of the most beautiful actresses available (Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman) to play the parts of Sally and Gillian Owens. Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing play their fun loving aunts. This movie is excellent for the whole family. I recommend this film highly. It's practical magic!!!!

Summary: Sisters. Witches. Heartbreakers.
Review: Being a witch, myself, I found Practical Magic very entertaining, wich you would love to see as a family, over, and over, again! Sandra Bullock, and Nicole Kidman, light up the screen as they play two witch sisters with a family curse. Their two Aunts, Aunt Francis(Stockard) and Aunt Jeti(Weist) like to meddle into people's love lives, while Gillian(Kidman), the heartbreaker, and Sally(Bullock) being the bookworm. After Gillian's ex boyfriend dissappears, cop Gary Hallet (Adian Quinn) comes to investagate, but also coming with a pleasant surprise. Giving you chills, tears, and heart-warming adventure, this is definitaly a brew of a movie!

Summary: Combined Movie Styles=one awesome movie
Review: This movie was great, and one for the whole family to watch. Whether your wiccan or not, Practical Magick keeps you intrigued. Some parts are like a chic flick, others a mystery, and some comedial. No matter what type of movie you're in the mood for practical magick seems to satisfy that need. I've seen it with guys and girls alike and they all loved it. It's a really awesome movie, and all the actors did a wonderful job. By the end you will feel as if you know this family of witches, and how the curse, and society treats them. Not to mention the catchy soundtrack, and midnight margaritas. It's definately worth buying and watching over and over again.

Summary: Absolutely Magical
Review: I read both the book and saw the movie - and I vote for the movie telling the tale best. It wasn't overly "witchy" - I feel it portrayed the craft in a responsible spiritual light. Aidan Quinn comes into the movie like a knight in shining armour with a Texas drawl (sigh). The sound track on CD is a must have If you want to curl up on the couch and watch a finely crafted tale- get this ! A definite, happy modern mystical fairy-tale feel good flick.

Summary: Deteriorating Magic
Review: I saw this movie in early January of 1999 in my suite at the Monte Carlo Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Sandra Bullock turns in a good performance as a woman afflicted by a strange family curse: the men she has romantic feelings for must die. Her sister, played by Nicole Kidman, is only cursed by the lack of good judgment, and ends up in abusive relationships. Kidman is outstanding in this movie, but that is not enough to make me like the entire project. The plot does not hang together very well, and I found some characters, the aunts, for example, annoying. I hope Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman do make another movie together, if only to redeem themselves. I know it's not their fault--we all need to make a living--but the movie is significantly below their potential. Frankly, I don't understand why so many women seem to be in love with this movie. If this is what passes for "female-centric" today, well, so much the worse, because women are not shown in a good light here. They are either careless, or cursed, or they lack commong sense. Having said this, the movie did seem scary to me. Maybe because I watched it in a specific environment: the lampshades in my suite were black, and I had overeaten that night at the buffet. The movie helped to give me indigestion and disturbed my sleep. The movie is not magical, and its characters are certainly not practical. The premise was good: Sandra and Nicole as witches, but the project deteriorated from that point on.

Summary: I LOVED this fim!
Review: I think that Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock were absolutely great together in this film. Their Yin and Yang characters were essential to this film. What woman couldnt relate to either one of them? Kidman, the carefree spirit, always breaking free from the norm...Bullock, the helpless romantic and do-gooder, always saving her spirited sister...Their wicth aunts were so cute, I loved Stockard Channing's frankness. They didnt perform as much magic as you would think the title would suggest, but it was a good girl-power film. The setting in the little colonial capeside town was fantastic. I would love to actually live there...Id watch this film a hundred times!

Summary: My all-time favorite movie!
Review: I first saw this movie on February 26, 1999 (see, I remember the exact date, that's how much I love this movie), and have been a fierce admirer and advocate of it ever since. I have always been interested in witches and the craft (albeit in a harmless, Halloween-like way),and this movie appealed to my magic-loving side. The story is engaging, uplifting, and (duh!) magical, and Bullock and Kidman (as two magically gifted sisters) and Weist and Channing (as their equally gifted aunts) are spell-binding. The beautiful scenery, charmingly gorgeous house, and Aidan Quinn's sexy sheriff role don't hurt either. If you're looking for a fun, uplifting, heart-warming, and witchy love story, this is your movie. I love it!

Summary: This Witch Was Spellbound!
Review: As a Wiccan, I try to keep up with new movies concerning Witches and the Craft. I never got around to seeing this one in the theatres (although I wanted to) so I rented it, ready for anything. I was quite pleasantly surprised... then completely hooked! The amazing soundtrack didn't hurt, either.

The story shows a tender and (fun-)loving matriarchal family, and shows the great hidden strengths that lie within every woman. Another valuable theme is this: magick is beautiful, mysterious... and can be really, really dangerous when misused. A good warning, I think, to all the trendy teenage girls out there playing with Witchcraft.

The ending theme song & magickal triumph left me with tears in my eyes! I got on-line and ordered both the movie and soundtrack within the hour! This is definitely in my top five movies ever!

Summary: witchy!
Review: Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman play two sisters who are witches and they are trapped in a love curse set by their ancestor who felt hurt and betrayed. They are befitting in their roles: Sandra as the elder sister with a serious disposition and Nicole, as the playful, lovable Gillian. There is no doubt that the two sisters are helped along by their aunts. Nonetheless, this movie has put witchcraft in a bad light. Wicca is seen as something that destroys, which is only partially true. The quest to find the love that does not exist is painfully real as it is identifiable in each and everyone of us. Who can forget that childhood fantasy of looking for the right guy/girl that will be true to us? This is a splendid movie right up to its theme of good versus evil and of course, love.

Summary: Dont Get Me Wrong: I LOVE THIS MOVIE!
Review: I love this movie, I bought it on VHS and when I found out the DVD had commentary, I bought that as well. However, the commentary by Griffin Dunne, et al, is so rambling and boring I turned it off about 30 minutes into it. He rambles on through most of the movie about how great everyone was to work with (like I care) and comments more about "Addicted to Love" than the movie he is supposed to be talking about! The games you play are inconvenient to set up (you have to flip the disk over) and the other extra material consists largely of a wheezy list of other movies the stars were in. Otherwise the DVD is beautiful, and the movie is great, but don't buy it for the extra features.
