Summary: Unprepared for A Great Movie!
Review: Not your typical Brittish Comedy...Better! First there is Renee Zellweger (becoming more seasoned with each film) doing a fabulous job of carrying off the lead in this comedy only too well. It features Hugh Grant in a role he's not accustomed to but, handled very well. Then the "treat" in the film...Colin Firth who has been very underrated in films for far too long. This being the best part he's had that I've seen since his appearance in "Circle Of Friends". The remainder of the cast is superb and the film well executed. The icing on the cake are Bridget's own group of friends who support their friend very well and add all the bubbles to the champagne that this film deserves. A Great Brittish Romp it the Grand Tradition that carries over very well on this side of the Atlantic. BRAVO to everyone involved with this film. I highly recommend it.

Summary: super movie
Review: This movie, a modern readpatation of Pride and Prejudice, is soo good. I have read both books, and while it is not exactly the same, the spirit of the movie is. Renee Zellwegger plays a great Bridget Jones and it is very easy to relate to her as the average woman. Colin Firth, is of course the perfect Mr. Darcy as is Hugh Grant, who plays a very different character than what we are used to seeing in his movies. I highly recommend this (single or not) if you want a good laugh and a happy ending.

Review: It's just started...I am 5 mins from shutting it off and boom...holy cow...it's a damn good, funny movie. I laughed my butt off. I didn't Care that much for Renee Zellweger....but Hugh Grant was great. Colin Firth was good too for the first time i've ever seen him, i think. It was a get off your butt and stop feeling sorry for yourself...whoops fell back in it...get back on the saddle and ride away into the sunset type of movie. I hope you caught all that...lol. Try it...but give it 15 mins, it'll get better.

Review: One of the most funny movies I have ever seen and one that goes beyond "chick flick" "make-me-cry-make-me-happy" ending. Language might embarrass some but it is not without a point, although that point is not seen until the last scene of the movie....

Summary: Love it! Can't wait for the sequel!
Review: I read the book, saw it in the theatre, bought the DVD and watched it more than 5 times since! It still makes me laugh each time I come to the famous "Blue Soup" scene. Just watch Tom's face during the dinner. Moreover, I think the scene with Mark Darcy and Bridget making the dinner is so romantic! Director Sharon Maguire mentioned that Colin Firth was so sexy at the ending scene where he was trying to kiss Bridget and I found it to be so true. Less is more here.... I enjoyed the movie and all the casting. Can't wait for more of Bridget, Mark, Tom, Shazzer and Jude. Wish it was a little bit longer and more Colin in the "Special Features". Can't imagine Bridget being skinnier in sequel though... She is perfect as is!

Summary: Lighthearted Fun!
Review: Bridget Jones's Diary is full of wonderful lighthearted fun. I enjoy every minute of watching it. The cast is wonderful. By the end of the movie I have definitely fallen in love with Mark Darcy played by Colin Firth. And Renee is so adorable; it is hard to imagine any one would dislike her in this movie unless they have a fixation on appreciating only the beautiful people. Hugh Grant's Daniel Cleever is irresistible - he has me convinced that sometimes women would fall for the bad boys. Colin Firth is magical. With very little appealing material to work with, playing a "dreadful cold fish", he has subtly shown Mark Darcy's kindness and charm that gradually wins everyone's heart. I cannot get enough of these scenes, which have him in it. In my opinion, they should give this nice boy more camera times - that's the only complain I have about this movie. I also have to congratulate the whole production team for successfully creating a movie of such weightless fun, and at the same time being honest and sincere to the human emotions. It is very hard to believe that this movie is Sharon Maguire's first one.
I never read the book. So, it is safe to say that my observation is not biased by any experience from reading the book. If you wish to have some fun and also like to dream a little bit, this is definitely the movie for you.

Summary: The movie for real girls
Review: Because I hadn't read the book, I took this movie as a movie. And a wonderful movie at that. Our heroine, Bridget Jones, is an average girl, without shiny blond hair or perfect social graces. In fact, Bridget Jones's Diary chronicles one blunder after another, eliciting chuckles out of the movie watcher. Somehow in this mess, of course, Bridget finds love in two men and strength within herself. So what if the plot isn't all that original? Like the editorial review says, it's not meant to be. I think the best part of this movie is the characterization and the actors who create this characterization- Colin Firth (the apparently snobbish prick...apparently), Hugh Grant (the tantalizing bad boy), and Renee Zellweger (a positively radiant Bridget Jones, complete with a perfect British accent and a disdain for married people).Bridget Jones's Diary never tries to go for the overkill in emotions or laughs. The result is a polished romantic comedy, never too much of either romance or comedy. If you've ever had comfort food, embarrassed yourself, kept a diary, depended on your friends, or tried to make resolutions, you know Bridget already. And you'll love this movie and all the special features that come along with it on DVD.

Summary: Ms. Jones tells all
Review: This movie is awesome! I was really surprised at the plot and the acting in this film. Renee Zellweger does an excellent job of portraying Bridget Jones. BRIDGET JONES'S DIARY is loaded with funny/awkward moments and Bridget is in the middle of all of them. Besedes the jokes and slapstic humor, Bridget comes across as a real person in the real world. Basically BRIDGET JONES'S DIARY is about a single woman in her early 30's trying to get by in everyday life. She's also tired of being alone and is trying to find a man. That's all I'm saying about that. I don't want to give too much away. Anyway, the acting is well done, the plot is great and it's an all around enjoyable movie.

Summary: A Feel Good Movie Wonderfully Cast
Review: This is a wonderful gem of a movie. Based on excellent material in the first place - Bridget Jones' Diary (the book), which in turn is loosely based on Pride and Prejudice to some degree - its near perfect casting ensures its place as a romantic comedy classic. From the leads to the bit players, even the seemingly unbelievable, such as Bridget's mother, are entirely plausible. The main characters are rendered with somewhat more depth than is the case for most romantic comedies; for example, raffish though Hugh Grant's character is, he is not such a stereotypical rogue that he does not feel badly about hurting Bridget, even before realizing how much he cares for her. Colin Firth is a particular triumph and plays off Zellweger remarkably well - they're an unlikely enough combination to add just the right amount of interest and tension, yet not unlikely enough to make the outcome unbelievable. Mark Darcy's transformation is one of the more interesting elements of the movie. It's puzzling that Firth hasn't risen to leading role status more prominently, though this may be due more to his own choice of parts than anything else. Few actors are more artful at innuendo and the use of facial expression and body language than Firth; no jabbering on is required to understand his characters' struggles and true feelings. When playing smoldering (i.e., masculine) repressed roles he's at his finest. This is a "feel-good" movie with the happy ending so many long for during challenging times and the holiday season. With so many engaging and quirky characters, it pulls its happy result off in a way that makes it far more interesting than is usual for its genre.

Summary: Very Good Movie - After Renting, I Bought It
Review: I liked this movie because it managed to combine irreverent humor with excellent acting. Colin Firth, in particular, brought a depth and subtlety to his role that surprised and delighted me. Hugh Grant breaks out of his nice-guy persona without going over the top, and Renee Zellweger was funny and warm in her state of "permanent confusion." I've never watched any movie more than twice until this one. I've watched this movie four times and enjoyed it more each time. I also enjoyed the "Making of..." feature on the DVD. Some of their comments about Hugh Grant (referencing his rather comic real-life mis-steps) were hilarious - "irony irony irony" (three important things to remember when casting the role of the cad)... I'm so glad I decided to rent and buy this movie - moments of true laughter and enjoyment are more special than ever these days, and this movie has provided me a great deal of joy.
