Summary: Minority Retort
Review: Most people I know love this movie. The funy thing is most of them don't love Bill Murray like I do. Murray is without question the celebrity I'd most want in line with me at the DMV. (Our DMV no longer has lines, they flash your number when they are ready for you, but I think you get the general idea.) Murray and the characters he portrays are generally genuine and funny.

I did not find Bill Murray's Bob nor the movie about him genuine or funny. I remember watching it in the theatre and waiting for the funny parts to happen. It just never worked for me on any level.

I would imagine that if you like Murray in this movie you will like him in The Man who Knew Too Little where he plays in many ways a similar character. I would highly reccomend that film but on what about Bob I have to pass.

Summary: What about "What about Bob" is funny?
Review: I'll admit it. I hate this movie. But that doesn't seem to matter much here. In my original review I blasted the film and no one has found my review helpful. I saw it once when it came out and I was psyched to see it. I love Bill Murray. He is so funny. It doesnt matter whether he's in a movie or on atalk show at a ball game or on the golf course he flat out makes me laugh. Except in "What about Bob?". This is possibly the least funny movie Bill Murray's ever been in. He carries movies like Groundhog Day and The Man Who Knew Too Little. His Cameos in Tootsie and Space Jam bring a whole new dimension to those fine films. So I was a little more than just disappointed when I left the theatre after this one.

I found nothing remotely remarkable, captivating or humorous about this film. The basic plot of a psychiatrist's patient making a nuisance of himself has some merit. Analyze this certainly proved their is some humor in that theme. However, Bill Murray's character is nowhere near as likeable as DeNiro's and thats saying something considering DeNiro's character is a Mafia boss!

Richard Dreyfuss and Julie Haggerty are very flat as the pschiatrist and his wife. This movie lacks one funny scene. The Baby Steps sequences which many people rave about were insipid and about as funny as Parmesan Cheese (and definitely as grating).

I don't understand how so many people love thos movie. Some people have told me if you watch it often enough it grows on you. For me watching it once was once too often.

What about "What About Bob?" is funny? What part of this annoying romp in the woods deserves the praise I've heard it lauded these past 11 years? As a Bill Murray nut what am I missing that so many others are seeing? If you figure it out please let me know.

Summary: Not particularly "Murray-type", but still there.
Review: Murray is more of a half serious and half funny guy in most of his films. In this movie, he chases the doctor (Kevin Dreyfuss) who was supposed to have helped him get over his psychological problems by going to his vacation site, ruining his interview, spending the night, using his toothbrush, blowing up his home, and finally, marrying his SISTER!!!! You'll probably have some sympathy for Dreyfuss throughout the show, but all the same will laugh along with his problems and "annoyances".

Summary: I'M ON VACATION!!!
Review: GOD I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!
No matter how many times I watch it, it still has me on the ground laughing histerically. I feel the most imporatant thing about this film besides the actors being perfectly casted, is that the humour is hilarious, polite, witty and wholesome. It's a movie that the entite family can enjoy not having to worry about rude language or dirty cliches which seems to saturate the modern day comedy flicks.
Murray - plays "Bob Whiley". a nurotic, inadequate New Yorker who is afraid of his bladder exploding one day after not being able to find a bathroom when he needs one.
Dreyfuss - plays "Leo Marvin". An arrogant, egotistical New York psychologist who is more concerned about his status and career than anything else.
Bob Visits Dr. Marvin one day at his practice for an introductory interview. From that point on Murray attaches himself to Dreyfuss like human-crazy glue. He follows him to his holiday home and cannot grasp the idea of Dreyfuss not wanting to know him due to being on vacation.
The humour and insanity that follows in this movie is histerical and unique to say the least. Making this film one of Murray's best and probably my favourite comedy movies of recent times.

Summary: Another great Bill Murray movie
Review: Although not one of the best known Bill Murray movies, What About Bob? is a great comedy. There aren't many extras on the DVD, but the picture and sound quality are excellent.

Summary: hahahahahaha
Review: This movie cracks me up! I've probably seen it 10 times and every single time I laugh at the same silly moments. From "baby steps" to the "MMMMMMM..MMMM...MMMM" of the good chicken, I just can't get enough. Bill Murray is great and Dryfuss is hysterical as the doctor driven to insanity by the formerly insane, now author, Bob. Rent it, buy it, borrow it, but see it for a nutty night of giggles!

Summary: Psychotically Funny
Review: Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfuss perform excellently in this wild and hilarious comedy directed by Frank Oz.
Bob Wiley (Bill Murray) has problems. Not just a "phobia" of a few things, pretty much a phobia of everything. He's afraid of germs, his bladder exploding, having heart attacks, public places. This problem is running his life, ruined his marriage and his chaotic outbursts and strange obsessive behavior has run off his shrinks.
But now Bob has met Dr. Leo Marvin (Dreyfuss). Dr. Marvin is a briliant pyschologist who would eagerly treat Bob if he weren't going on vacation for several weeks. Bob, worried that something will go wrong while his doc is away, fakes his own suicide in order to track down Dr. Marvin's vacation get away and continue his therapy. Seemingly strange enough to Dr. Marvin, but now he's got another problem. Bob just won't go away and before you know it, the overly nice but obsessive Bob is about to push the pyschology doctor over the edge himself.

Bill Murray is so funny in this movie that he is almost annoying and makes you want to pull your own hair out. Dreyfuss is also brilliant, displaying and reacting exactly like you'd expect a rich, rude doctor who's private life has just been invaded by an annoying looney who just won't take a hint.

Summary: Murray's best movie
Review: This Murray comedy with Dreyfuss playing role of a pompous and arrogant psychologist gives Murray perhaps his most memorable role as a neurotic and hapless patient named "Bob". This is my favorite Murray film, with Groundhog Day coming in a close second.

The writing of this script was truly insightful and brilliant, with the writers making fun of both "pop" psychology and pointing out that often those that take themselves too seriously and consider themselves "experts" can't quite even manage to do the basics in life; like have good relationship with their own kids.

The son of the doctor becomes fast friends with Bob and their alliance points out the deficiency of the father/son relationship that doctor has neglected due to his overwhelming commitment to his career and upcoming book release. Most of the dialogue is both funny and revealing and includes Dreyfuss trying to remain a father figure to his teenage daughter as well. The results are hilarious and this movie is a very high recommendation both as a comedy and as an insightful look into human nature.

Summary: Recovering Hypocondriac Drives Therapist Nuts
Review: Bill Murray has one of his best-ever vehicles as nutty hypocondriac "Bob" who adores his analyst (played by Richard Dreyfuss). Bob keeps the Doctor busy with his daily office visits. Even when the doctor and his family go on a "secret" vacation, the resourceful Bob finds them to resume his therapy. This film is hilarious, showing how everyone Bob encounters finds no fault with the man, feeling that Bob is charming, witty and a joy to have around. This frustrates the doctor, who feels threatened and becomes insanely jealous, to the point that he wants to murder Bob. In the end it appears as though Bob is truly God's gift to humanity, as he receives credit even for the doctor's return from a coma (that was induced by extreme anger at Bob). A laugh riot! This is a forget-your-daily-humm-drumm and relax in the wonderful world of Hollywood escapism. Highly recommended!

Summary: Yay!
Review: Bill Murray is a national treasure. He has perfect chemistry to Richard Dreyfuss. This film is a fantastic bit of comedy and not to be missed.

The DVD is well encoded, picture quality is fine.
