Summary: My big fat bend it like beckham wedding!!
Review: This movie is the big fat sensation of the year. It isn't very often you can go to a movie and get a great laugh and feel good at the end these days. This movie makes you feel all happy inside, plus gives you a sense of culture and acceptance of society and todays youth and their dreams in life. I give it two thumbs up and five stars. Its great!!

Summary: Fantastic!
Review: This movie is fantastic! A great story for all ages. You don't have to be a soccer fan (although I am) to enjoy this movie. I loved it. The acting is great, many humorous scenes, and the soccer is great! A must see!

Summary: Beckham is the Best
Review: Not only is this girl just like you and me but she's got the best possible taste in athletes. Bend it Like Beckham is a kick-bum movie with supposedly ethnic issues that are actually present in every culture. When we look past the racial lines of Brown v. White its clear that the issues are cross-cultural. A woman's place in the world? Multi-racial dating? Embracing a culture, even if it isn't your own? It kind of helps to have a person with you who speaks Hindi when you watch because their translations and reactions are part of what this movie has to offer. Overall this movie is awesome and it is so excting to see these sleeper-hits coming out of the dark.

Summary: I'M A CHEAP . BUT I'M STILL GOING TO BUY THIS.
Review: I NEVER BUY DVDS, BUT THIS ONE I WILL. WHY? BECAUSE I KNOW I WILL BE DRAWN TO WATCH IT OVER AND OVER, AND IT IS CHEAPER THAN RENTING IT.

IF I WATCH IT JUST 4 TIMES, THAT WILL COST 20 BUCKS. I MAY AS WELL BUY IT.

I LOVED THIS MOVIE. I'VE ONLY SEEN IN ONCE. I LOVE IT.

Summary: Entertaining, But Vastly Overrated
Review: Don't get me wrong: BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM is an entertaining coming-of-age-with-a-cultural-twist story. BECKHAM provides plenty of reasons to smile from start to finish. And BECKHAM even offers a glimpse at some of the brilliance of films that could be coming out of India (one of the underdog cinema markets in the world today). BECKHAM boasts some fine acting, some excellent cinematography, and some wonderful direction.

However, the film boasts one too many highs and one too many lows to be as entertaining as has been compared to such films as MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING. Had the script undergone one more draft, and had the choice been made to clip just one of the highs and one of the lows in Jess's life, it would've been far easier to stay with the narrative. At a point, I reached a point where -- were I her coach and possible suitor -- I would've agreed, "Well, she has to stay off the team, but I'm definitely going to find some way to break down the barriers and marry this beautiful spirit."

It is a good film.

As its American domestic box office receipts show, it's not necessarily a universal crowd-pleasing film that everyone can find some association to. I'm talking about degrees here: a few creative changes, and all of what I felt were shortcomings would've been easily resolved, and the film would be enjoying vastly greater American domestic box office success. Unfortunately, I think its rollercoaster highs and deep valley lows kept some people from truly appreciating it.

As a sports-related film, however, I would add that I found it somewhat distracting. The audience is never treated to a soccer game in sequence; rather, the games are played out in a quick cut series of vignettes, and it becomes difficult at times to know what beyond the score (and Jess's girl power dreams) is riding on the outcome. A little bit of conflict associated to some of the other teams would've been a welcome touch.

Summary: Absolutely fantastic
Review: United was showing this movie on a twelve-hour ride across the Atlantic, as well as three other mediocre-looking ones. I decided to watch Bend it Like Beckham first, and the next three after. Well, guess what - I ended up watching this movie four times in a row. I don't even LIKE soccer one bit, but I LOVED THIS MOVIE!!!! It has something for everyone. Great soundtrack, fabulous actors, and a fantastic premise - Indian girl (living in Britain) wants to play soccer, but parents say no. The whole movie is a funny, fresh look at culture clashes, girl-power in the sports world, and of course "following your dream". ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! I can't say it enough. This movie was the best I'd seen in a long, long time. Go out and rent/buy this right away. You won't regret it (I guarantee).

Summary: "Beckham Wins The game again"!!
Review: Bend It Like Beckham to me is an extraordinary film that ventures into the exciting but limited life of Jess. Determined to play soccer on the girls side, she sneaks away to practice. she likes it. she is nice. i like her. i also like her coach>>

Summary: Best movie I've seen in a long time.
Review: Okay, I am a bit biased on this, because it is about my favorite sport ever. But seriously, it is sooo good. My dad hasn't liked any of the movies I've forced him to see lately, except this one. He and my mom laughed their booties off at the hilarious things some of the people said. And I must say, I almost cried at the end, it was so sweet. Now I can't wait to read the book... I just hope I can find a copy!
