Rating: Summary: You either love it or don't get it... Review: I watched this movie with a friend and afterwards, her reaction was 'Huh???' while I loved the movie. She did not get the point of the movie at all. If you are expecting a comedy, you will be disappointed. There are comic moments but this is definitely not a comedy. What it is is a lovely portrait of growing emotional intimacy between 2 lost souls - Americans totally out of their element in Tokyo who happen to run into each other in the hotel bar. Their friendship and intimacy is in sharp contrast to the characters marriages which are decidedly lacking in either friendship or intimacy. Bill Murray is excellent in his role of an aging actor, the script is great, I was entertained and touched by the movie. But if you prefer car chase scenes, explosions, and/or laugh-out-loud comedies, bypass this movie. You won't get it.
Rating: Summary: THE VILE EMPTYNESS OF CELEBRITY OFFSPRING. Review: I bought the DVD and got rid of it in 3 days.Pure crap, plain and simple tbis is crap!!
Rating: Summary: Lost in Translation Review: The movie had a couple of funny Bill Murray moments. But what a dud! Kept waiting for it to get started and at the end, all I could say was "what was that all about". I know the critics highly praised it, but I have to be honest about what I saw, it didn't hook me emotionally and it rather irritated me in many scenes. The only scenes that were entertaining were when Bill Murray was doing the commercial. He was very good in that.
Rating: Summary: A movie for anyone who wants to escape and fall in love. Review: Anyone who wants to dream, to imagine, to escape for under two hours from the reality of the world should see this film. What a perfect setup. You stay in the ultra posh Park Hyatt Tokyo, bump into a beautiful young sultry woman such as Scarlett Johansson and fall in love and the best part, she falls in love with you! Lost in Translation is a perfect film for the imagination, a movie that one can escape to. You have all the stuff that makes it a dreamy film, scenes shot at dusk, jazzy music played against the bar's penthouse windows, the city's marvelous skyscraper at night, even Bill Murray's hotel suite which has a corner view is to die for especially in a situation when you're falling in love with someone!! You get all this plus scenes of what Tokyo is like during the day and night, visualizations of their beautiful culture and scenery. I think it's a great film and I honestly think a lot of people would love to escape the realities of life which the film depicts. You have both Murray and Johansson feeling stuck in their lives, wondering if this is all there is to life. They meet and a fondness blossoms, a romance develops. Lost in Translation comes across to me as a romantic comedy.

Rating: Summary: Oops I meant to review another film Review: But since I dislike nepotism will drop a one star review down here. Seems I am not alone.
Rating: Summary: Patrick Dempsey would have been better Review: in the lead. He is closer to the girl's age and mush more handsome then the pocked marked Murray.
Rating: Summary: Pathetic Review: This has to be one of the few movies where someone received a best director nomination even though you could see the boom mic in several scenes LOL!! Reminded me of a freshman student film where the director has not yet learned to line up the shot to avoid having the boom mic rereflect into the camera.
Rating: Summary: A meatball Review: Meatballs was better directed..even Meatballs II. I like video games. I recommend the Starfox series and Pokeman.
Rating: Summary: I hated it Review: but then I found out it was a spoof to fool all the wannabe intellectuals. They have identified themselves here with their 5 star reviews.
