Rating: Summary: Art imitates life Review: No chase scenes or superficial stereoptypes. Just deep characters living realistic lives. Interesting, not exciting. If you'd rather flip through a Sharper Image catalog than read an engrossing novel about human beings, don't bother seeing this. Great film.
Rating: Summary: Don't be another statistic Review: Just say NO. An hour and 42 minutes of my life...wasted. Don't let this happen to you! Watch a test pattern...twiddle your thumbs..it will have the same effect as this movie.
Rating: Summary: ZZzzZZz....snore....ZzzzZZzzZz...snore some more...zzzzzzzzz Review: Could a movie GET any more boring than this one?! I don't think so. Two depressed Americans wander around Tokyo..that's it..that's the whole movie in a nutshell. If there was any real action at all it must have occurred when I dozed off, unless you count the guys playing games in the arcade.
Rating: Summary: Delicious -- every moment counts Review: I finally got to see Lost In Translation last night. Not having read or seen the hype, I expected nothing in particular though Bill Murray has long been a favorite. From the opening, the film is gripping. Tokyo plays a glitzy starring role and is given its due from the cinematographer who should have received awards -- and perhaps did. Far from being boring, the film's greatest pleasure lies in watching the characters slowly reveal themselves. They are alternately touching and extremely funny. One's heart melts for Bob, Murray's character. I waited for a crummy, formula ending, but no, Coppola and the scriptwriter didn't yield. The ending is touching and perfectly in character. It would be hard to give this movie any fewer than five stars.
Rating: Summary: Terrible Review: This is by far the worst movie I have ever seen and I couldn't even sit through the whole thing. I was dissappointed that they had to include such a good actor like Bill Murray in such a boring and horrible movie. There is no plot, and its not even funny...dont watch...buy Caddyshack
Rating: Summary: Ick. Review: My dad bought this DVD and I watched it with him. It is a total waste of money and time. The only thing I enjoyed about it is the setting- Japan. There's no humour, no good plotline, nothing. Kinda fun if your learning Japanese to try to see if you know if you can decifer some of the natives, but otherwise, it lacks big time. You'll be asleep in about 15 minutes through it. This movie is definitely lost in translation, literally.
Rating: Summary: Hell Yeah Review: This movie sure is good. It has nice phenomenal environments and the casting is great. And Bill Murray gives this movie a really big twist.
Rating: Summary: 0 stars actually Review: Lost in translation quite possibly one of the worste movies I've ever seen. This film dosn't even have a genre. Its just a movie about two people who are wasting there lives and in the end nothing has changed. The story doesnt go anywhere and has no meaning. Its simply a really boring film, if you can even call it a film.
Rating: Summary: What was she thinking? Review: This is close to the worst move I have EVER seen. It simply had no plot, no storyline, NOTHING. Thank god I didn't waste the money to see this in the theaters. Sophia should be ASAHMED of this waste of time!
Rating: Summary: Only for the sheep Review: My favorite reviews of this movie are the people who imply that it has such deep meaning and is so heart felt that if you didn't like it you're stupid and "simple minded". Yeah right, like Sophia Coppola is some deep thinker. Im sure that her tough life has taught her many hard lessons and made her into the philosophical tour-de-force that she is now. NOT! The reason that you don't hear what she whispers in his ear at the end of the movie is because Coppola has nothing to say. Talk about pretentious.
