Summary: Don't Think You've Lived Until You've Seen This Movie
Review: OK, this movie is completely genius. There is nothing in the history of comedy that can ever compare to dozens of comedic all-stars in a slap-stick blast like this. Every part of this movie is gold; from "We on fire!", to the knee-slapping, "I'm comin' to save you momma!" With tons of fantastic stunts, and a compelling musical score, Stanley Kramer proves why he was such a legend in his own time. The W definately stands for WINNER in this movie.

Summary: Great movie!
Review: For many years I've been wanting to get this movie and I finally did when I noticed they had it here on dvd. Sure, the ending may be a bit far fetched, but then again - that's the whole idea for the movie isn't it! The deleted scenes were great! Some of them were really funny. And really how many movies do you watch now that have an intermission and such humorous animation ot the beginning credits? Definitely recommended.

Summary: Buy this...not Rat Race
Review: This movie is incredible in every sense of the word. This DVD edition is well done and had some extras that I really enjoyed watching. I have seen this movie a dozen times and on the twelth viewing found it better than the incredibly bad Rat Race.

Mad World also had a moral to the story, but really is one of the best comedies to date. The timing, acting, direction, cast and goofiness is something that we shall not see again.

Summary: Very entertaining movie!
Review: Although I am dissapointed that it may be years before the 3 hour, 12 minute version becomes available on DVD, this 2 hour, 41 minute cut is still fine. Many wonderful moments are to be found, including Buddy Hackett and Mickey Rooney trying to fly a drunken man's airplane, Dick Shawn chasing Milton Berle and Terry-Thomas on a country road, and Jonathan Winters tearing down a gas station. And, like any other Stanley Kramer film, a lesson is to be learned.

Summary: A classic that everyone will love
Review: This is one of my favorite movies of all time, if not my favorite. It is very wholesome and clean yet still contains elements of drama and comedy. I have been watching this movie since I was five, i'm now 17 and I still love it!

Summary: Bad, Yet So Good.
Review: Sam B. ----16 y.o.
First of all, I was extremely....mad when I got the DVD and found out that it was not the version with the 20 or so minutes of added movie. That is the version I grew up on since I am 16 so when I found out that the dvd was shorter....when thinking it would be longer, I was very upset. All of the extra scenes on the 1990 restored scenes version were so excellent and great and the movie does not work without them. I guess I should be happy that they included those extra scenes on the extra's.....except they are horrible quality and of course...not in the actual movie.
Second of all, I do not know about anybody else, but on my dvd, on the scene where the stooges are shown as firemen.....that scene is all messed up and for 7 seconds it either totally passes over that scene, jerks around and makes weird sounds, or plays fine. It is so strange. I am thinking that it is some error made on the dvd since it has no scratches and none of my other dvd's does that.

Otherwise.......It is an extremely great film. It is a fun adventure to watch all of the groups of people get other people involved in trying to find the big dubya. It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World is a 5 star movie.....but without the extra scenes in the movie and that one 7 second scene that gets all blippy.....is a 4 star dvd.

Summary: They Didn't Get It Right
Review: What a bummer. For the DVD they should have used the wonderful 188 minute restored version that was released on Laserdisc and VHS in 1991. But NOOOOO, they stuck with that horrible 161 minute butchered version we had to suffer with for years. Go to Ebay. Look for the 188 minute version of this movie on Laserdisc or VHS and have a ball!

Review: Tons of stars, lots of sight gags and practical comedy, this is one of the greats and I'm glad to have it.

Summary: I Guess You Had To Be There
Review: Most of the people I know of who love this film are among those who were old enough to have seen it at the time of its original release (or perhaps the 1970 re-issue). Those that aren't seem to prefer movies like RAT RACE. Of course there must be exceptions; this is just my personal observation. Of those who don't like it (whatever their age) I can only say it's too bad they don't appreciate this much-imitated, but still one-of-a-kind, picture.

My main purpose here is to comment on the recent DVD release. I have owned the laserdisc box set for some years, and thought it was time I upgraded. I should have read the fine print. Although the DVD contains almost a half-hour of additional scenes cut from the picture after its original "roadshow" engagements, they are included only as supplemental material on the "B" side of the disc, and not integrated into the film as they were on the laserdisc set. The "movie" side of the DVD contains only the cut 161 minute version.

The DVD image, thanks to the superior technology, is an improvement over that of the last laserdisc release (although there is the teensiest bit less picture area, due to less-severe letterboxing on the DVD). But next time I want to watch this film, I'll probably pull out the laserdisc instead of the DVD, despite the better picture, because I prefer to see the 188-minute version (which is as close to a full restoration as has yet been done for video release) all in one piece. (You folks did a great job, Rennie!)

So, all you owners of the "restored" version of this film on laserdisc (or even the semi-letterboxed VHS tape released at the same time) be warned: the DVD does not provide the same version. You might want to take this into consideration if you plan on purchasing the DVD.

I still love this movie, and there's plenty to laugh at in whichever version you see or have. ("Right! Except you, lady: may you just DRRRROP DEAD!")

Summary: One of the All-Time Great Comedies
Review: This is an oldie, but goodie. If you've seen and liked "Rat Race," this is the original...and it's better. Star Studded cast with lots of laughs.
