Review: If you're a parent who wants to show a classic family film to your kids; or as a great homage to vaudeville and really all comedies from the silent era to the early sixties. View it in this context; it will make it infinitely enjoyable for you.

Summary: Qualified Good Review; Film is okay; DVD another story
Review: Here we go with yet another example of a film which MGM does a terrible job of releasing on DVD. The VHS edition of this movie released in the early 90s containing the restored scenes and the like is actually superior to the DVD release. Here, those scenes are included, but they're in the special features, slapped together in no discernable order, and many extra scenes that have no audio are also added, plus some that are so brief, it makes you wonder "what's the point."

Also, what many may consider a minor point, but the film, released in the theaters as a United Artist release, now opens with the post-1990 MGM lion and the 1983 dubbed stereo roar. Considering that Warner Bros. does a commendable job of including the actual theatrical opening logos from the initial release for the MGM, RKO, and other titles obtained by Turner, it would be only right if MGM did the same with the initial opening logos for the titles its acquired through mergers. If they insist on including their own logo, at least include the one that was also included with the original studio for its original theatrical release.

Also, MGM has on more than one occasion released DVD's with questionable screen ratios. While this film was originally released in Cinerama, it still appears as though the ratio here is still off when viewed on a standard television screen.

Extra features are so-so. The "making of" documentary that was included in the aforementioned VHS release is included, plus the original theatrical trailers. One plus--while the film and the special features are on separate sides of the DVD, at least the film is all one one side. Something that can't always be said for classic films ("Ben-Hur," for one.)

As for the plot of the film. It is one long car chase, but if you like the stars included (virtually everyone working in comedy in the early 60s), you'll find it an enjoyable flick. Plus, if you're a fan of pop culture, it's fun just watching what's going on in the background in the many exterior scenes, and the various product placments in the movie.

Summary: Great Movie but a slight Problem.
Review: Funny great movie the only problem is it seems that I got jipped. One the menu it says to flip disc for special features but there is a printed logo on the other side.

So that means there is no special features at all. Just weird very weird.

Summary: It's a Bad, Bad, Bad, Bad Movie
Review: If you enjoy silly yelling in every single scene, then this is the movie for you. I had to turn it off right after the intermission at which time the DVD was thrown in the garbage.

I was very disappointed.

Summary: It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, Funny Movie!
Review: It is most definitely the greatest comedy ever made. However, the DVD doesn't not contain the "Overture" (which was nominated for an Oscar). Besides that, it is a wonderful movie and a must-see!

Summary: Funny actors, unfunny movie
Review: I'm not quite sure how you can manage to get so many funny people and make a movie this leaden, but somehow this one manages to do it.

Summary: Laugh till your sides hurt
Review: This movie I must have seen more than 20 times and still get a good laugh out of it. Everyone should be so lucky, We would never get sick if we learn to laugh more. sadly movies that are made now, don't give you the opportunity. Its a Mad Mad Mad Mad World has some of the funiest Movie stars, who every one of them were in Drama's - STAR PERFORMERS. and the movie had a good story line. If there are any Movie makers out there that log onto Amazon.com and are reading this review, please take note. MORE FUNNY MOVIES PLEASE.

Summary: An Unrivaled Comedy To This Day
Review: I have seen just about every comedy ever released since 1955. In my opinion; "IT'S A MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD" is an unrivaled classic to this day. It is this ICON by which all other comedy should be measured. This is an absolute gut buster that anyone of any age will find hillarious and enjoy.

It's a great movie to show at a party or any get together.

If you're suffering from depression, just watch this and you will no longer need Prozac!

I now have it in VHS and DVD. I have to watch it at least once every three months just to keep my sanity.

Summary: the way movies should be made
Review: When this movie was made, they still knew how to make movies, to be entertaining, to last, to make you sometimes howl, and sometimes just think about the goofiness humanity can get into. This movie will still deserve to be seen when people have forgotten the names of most others. In my permanent collection, forever

Summary: Big Laughs from Big Stars
Review: "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World" is a must-have for any collector of comedy, but especially for those who enjoy classic comedy. Almost everyone considered funny in 1963 had a major appearance or cameo in this fun film. You'll see Ethel Merman, Don Knotts, Buddy Hackett, Jerry Lewis, Phil Silvers, Mickey Rooney, and Milton Burl, just to name a few.
