Summary: So Funny!
Review: This is one of the funniest movies of all time, right up there with the Odd couple as the most watchable of all time. This is a movie you just cant get tired of. the three leads are superb, jack lemmon delivers one of the best comedic performances on film. watch this movie and if you dont, you're crazy.

Summary: Do you mind...yor blocking moi view!
Review: Ignore the negative views of those who dislike or do not appreciate the genre - rent it then you will buy it to watch over and over - you will laugh at new angles and unseen nuggets even after multiple viewings.

A Wilder classic, with Jack Lemon, Curtis nee Grant and MM!

Staged in the prohibition era and framed around the St Valentines Day Murder it shows how laughter can be drawn from desparation in two bystanders caused economically and corporally.

Being a Cary Grant fan adds to the enjoyment - with Curtis playing "Cary Grant playing Cary Grant" so well that rumour has it he was only able to clear the slate with the suave master when they played together in Operation Petticoat -the first time since SLIH.

How MM managed to stay in that dress (worn during "I wanna be loved by you") is a feat of quantum physics - no wonder they never let it be seen out of shadow...

A masterpiece is an oft used phrase but I watch this jem to laugh, cry, smile and think. It can work in multiple dimensions and help you along in life through your emotions. How many movies can perform such a feat?

I am in their debt as they have enriched my life.

Summary: This movie stinks
Review: Recently, I learned that AFI took a poll for the funniest film ever made and the winner was "Some Like it Hot". I have to say this for all of you who voted for it and the AFI: Are you all nuts? This film isint even close to being funny. It comes off as being a dull, lifeless, humorless film that is just strange. Watching the entire thing, I never laughed even once, I just had a lost, confused face. For those of you who have never seen this movie (All 5 of you) Dont see it, its just weird and not funny. For those of you who made this the funniest film of all time, I wonder if you have ever seen "Airplane" or "The naked gun". Probably not.

The good: nothing that I came come up with

The bad: Its overrated, obnoxious, annoying and not funny

And the ugly: Its overrated, obnoxious, annoying and not funny

Summary: The best ever? I don't think so...
Review: What was the AFI thinking? Perhaps it was the buildup. Perhaps it was that Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis were so good together in "The Great Race". For whatever reason, "Some Like It Hot" left me cold. While Tony Curtis' Cary Grant imitation was a high point of the movie, and while it had its moments, I can think of many, many comedies (mostly black and white) that far surpass this one.

Summary: Most over-rated movie in history!
Review: Vulgar, humorless, heavy-handed embarrassment, Billy Wilder at his worst, to say nothing of Marilyn Monroe. At least Wilder learned his lesson & subsequently used Shirley MacLaine, an actress far more versatile talented & attractive, with Jack Lemmon. The jokes are gross, like those of a loud rich drunken uncle at a gathering of poor relatives. Only the last line is good. This movie defines the absolute opposite of subtlety & good taste.

Summary: Half A Century Old, It Still Delivers Plenty Of Laughs
Review: In lesser hands this comedy classic could have easily been a yawn. Instead Billy Wilder created a screen masterpiece, which the AFI so fittingly designated as the Number-One America flim comedy of all time. Flawlessly casting Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis as musicians looking to flee the Chicago underworld, only because they had inadvertly wittnessed a mob rub-out. Hence they join an all-girl band, don high heels and handbags and the laughs begin.

Was there ever a more fitting role for Marilyn Monroe? I don't think so. And judging by the films lasting endurance, I'm not alone. Her character, Suger Kane has all the wide-eyed innocense of Shirley Temple and the raw sex appeal of..of..of..well Marilyn Monroe.

In short, here's as near a picture-perfect comedy as ever there was. From the zanny rail-car scenes, where Suger first befriends Daphnie, (Lemmon) and Josephine, (Curtis) to the moonlight dinner scene aboard "Shell-Oil's" yachet the laughs just keep comming and comming. The AFI gave it their Number-One slot and I will too.

Summary: Lemon, Curtis and Monroe, Vow!
Review: There are few comedies that have these many stars in the same movie. However in the case of this movie, i.e., Some Like It Hot VHS ~ Jack Lemmon, has three, e.g., Jack Lemon, Tony Curtis and Marylin Monroe. Lemmon and Curtis are a blast as a pair of down an out musicians whom dress up as women to escape the mob. Marylin is still pretty but not as innocent looking as in her earlier movies. Time magazine hailed the movie as "the best comedy of the year", in my book it can and should be thought of as the best comedy of any year. Highly Recommended.

Summary: A good flick...
Review: This is a funny movie, with situational laughs, an interesting premise and good performances. It's a breezy comedy with smart writing and clever wit that you just don't see lately, what with our seemingly national obsession with fart humor and gross out jokes...

Summary: OK
Review: Love the movies, seen it many time, still want to keep it in one more format. The DVD tranfer quality is so-so. I did not buy the one that has special features, those might be good.

Summary: Red Hot and Really Cool!
Review: Before Tootsie, before What Women Want, there was Some Like it Hot. According to the American Film Institute (AFI), Some Like it Hot is the funniest film comedy ever made. I'm not sure they're correct in this assessment, but it surely is a hoot and a showcase for Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon. When Curtis and Lemmon accidentally witness the St. Valentine's Day Massacres in roaring twenties Chicago, they escape Spats Colombo (George Raft) and his gang by disguising themselves as woman in a traveling "girl band." While performing at a fancy hotel in Florida, hilarity ensues when Lemmon's character is hit upon by Osgood Fielding III (Joe E. Brown). Curtis on the other hand finds himself falling in love with Sugar Cain (Monroe) the girl band's vocalist. How is he going to tell her he's not a girl without getting offed by the mob? There is so much to enjoy about this film: Billy Wilder's great direction, top performances by the three leads, not to mention great turns by Raft and Pat O'Brien, basically parodying roles that they played straight for most of their lives. The dialogue is witty and spirited and spoken by a wonderful cast of comic performers. The Monroe mystique is on grand display here too. She's vulnerable, sexy, and totally likeable by both sexes. Monroe's performance is wonderfully wacky and grounds this witty and insightful movie. After you see this film, you'll wonder why Hollywood doesn't make movies like this anymore.
