Summary: Mix up a Cosmo and Relax...the Girls are Here
Review: This show is certainly one of the dominant cultural forces on the landscape today, and here are its roots. From the first episode's "Toxic Bacelors" through the big moment between Carrie and Mr. Big at the end of the last episode, there is not a false moment or wrong chord struck. Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and my favorite, Miranda, dazzle us with their humor, their intelligence, and their amazing resilience in the face of seemingly impossible dating odds. My favorite scene: episode 3, "Valley of the Twenty-Something Guys"--the the discussion in the back of the taxi about Charlotte's boyfriend's request. Priceless.

Review: Before watching this series, I thought I might get to see some Sex on TV. But, after watching this IM HOOKED!.
This series shows whats its like for women in the dating arena, and how stupid and strange guys can be.
I have hooked my wife on Sex in the City too!.

Summary: Saving this set to give to my grand-kids!
Review: This is the season that started it all! I remember waiting for the series when it first started years ago. I had read Candace Bushnell's novel when it was still fairly obscure but never dreamed the series would be as entertaining as it is. This series will always serve as memories of my youth which I like to think I'm still in! When I have grandchildren in the year 2030, I will lovingly pass the first, second, third and the series to follow, down to them to remind them that 'Granny' used to be hip!

Summary: Addicting!
Review: After renting these DVDs, I was instantly hooked on this show and you probably will be as well. I now own all three seasons and SATC has become my favorite show still currently on TV. It is just so hilariously funny, compelling, and compulsively watchable. The first season takes a little while to get started, but once it does it's on fire and the second and third seasons are even better. You get to know these four women as well as your best friends--each of them is so different, and yet all are lovable (the voracious, man-eating, sexaholic Samantha is definitely the funniest). While some episodes are definitely not as good as others, when this show is at its best it's amazing. Favorite episodes: "The Drought" and "The Baby Shower."

Review: I think "Sex & The City" has gotten better since the first season, but it was a reasonably good beginning. The characters are a little slow to develop into real individuals here, and there are a few too many "person on the street" type quotes cut in, especially in the first couple of episodes, but by the end of the season, Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha are fully-drawn (if by definition somewhat charicatured).

This is reliably entertaining and occasionally very funny viewing, and can be particularly fun to watch with friends, providing good opportunities to share your own stories with each other as the situations the characters find themselves in remind you of similar situations in your own lives. Very few of us live like these four women, of course, but there can still be points in common. Obnoxious men, after all, are not limited to New York.

Summary: Oh where to begin with my praise
Review: I discovered sex and the city only about a year ago. But since then i have managed to purchase all of the episodes on DVD and borrowed some from a friend on her copies of VHS. I have seen and loved every single episode. The first season is great. It is where we get to know the characters and begin to follow along in their journey of evolution. Its exciting to see where they began with their ideas about the show and the characters, if you haven't seen season 1 then you have to get this and watch it right away.

This is a must own for all women and even my fiance seems to love this show! Although he doesn't want to admit it to his friends. But he couldn't stop watching episode after episode when I first got the DVD set.

Summary: Entertaining
Review: I really enjoyed this DVD set. After I was done I wanted to watch the next series and I am currently and it is better than the 1st. It is a good idea to watch them in order. I really think this is much better than regular TV.

Summary: Huh?
Review: I don't get it -- what was all the fuss about? I plan to view the second season just to give this show the benefit of the doubt. I guess I am just getting old!

Summary: THIS IS SEXY?
Review: The popularity of this series eludes me. If this is sex in NYC, I'll pass thank you. To me, Sarah Jessica Parker is the epitomy of thr pseudo sophisticated New Yorker. She is about as captivating as a wet noodle. This series makes "Red Shoes Diaries" look like hard core porn.
I'll take Cinemax any day.

Summary: Sex and the City - The Complete First Season
Review: I can only imagine that these reviews are for those who are not already converts to the show. I am.

It's a tongue-in-cheek look at single life with a heavy emphasis on shoes (which works perfectly for me). I LOVE the show though I worry about those who try to align their own personalities with those of the characters. The characters are caricatures of personalities - lovable but quite nuts each in her own way.

The episodes are funny and fast. This particular season is a great example of how a show can grow and the characters become personalities. The early episodes are less cohesive than the later ones and the 4 stars are less involved in the stories as the show finds its format. The clothes are cheap and if you're watching for fashion, the early shows will be disappointing - remember, this wasn't big budget when it started.

As a fan, it's a must own. If you're just starting out, see it through to the end before making any judgments. The series changed quite a bit as it grew into itself and the first few episodes are not representative.
