Summary: Best Elvis Movie of All
Review: I have seen every one of Elvis's movies over and over again. This is my very favorite one. Even people I know who don't care for his movies liked this one. Elvis plays a rich guy who changes places with a poor guy. He wants to get a girl who likes him for himself and not for his money. The songs in this movie are his best. Bill Bixby plays the guy you love to hate. Everyone does a great job making this a really fun movie. If you are ever going to buy any of Elvis's movies, this is the one to buy.

Summary: Floridians beware
Review: I've enjoyed some of Elvis' movies like Viva Las Vegas, Blue Hawaii, and Fun in Acapulco. I received Clambake as a gift to add to my collection, and I thought I'd like it especially because it took place in Miami, where I'm from.

Sadly, this was not a very good movie. The late-60s styles were comical, and the young days of "Christine" from "Coach" and Bill Bixby from "The Hulk" were amusing. However, the obvious closed sets, corny acting and oddball music interludes kept me asking why was this movie even produced.

The final insult to injury... Elvis and his girl drive into the Florida sunset... with mountains in the background!?? The only mountains in Miami are trash dumps so this was obviously shot in California and poorly passed off as Miami Beach.

So I give it 2 stars: one for Elvis and one for the real Florida.

Summary: Dont Buy It
Review: If i was to say this movie was bad, think again, it was a good plot but bad acting, all you have to do is watch 2 lines and you turn it off, i own the video version, thats worst than Carry On follow that camel, what was the point on watching this.
DONT BUY IT!!!

Summary: not a serious film . . . duh
Review: If you are a romantic at heart and don't take it too seriously (why would you? It's an Elvis movie . . .) you may love this one. Some of the songs may not be chart toppers, but the lyrics add to and help define the story.

They say Elvis wasn't very enthusiastic about doing this one - maybe that explains why he seems more real in this one and not overdone.

This is a story about love, believing in yourself and being true to your beliefs. I first saw it when I was a kid and took these values to heart.

Lighten up and enjoy!

Summary: For the uncritical Elvis fan
Review: It's been written that Elvis practically had to be dragged to the movie set for this one. Probably to the recording studio as well. Let's presume that by 1967 Presley he was totally fed up with escapist, "formula" movies and soundtracks - and also more than aware that there was less and less box office for this kind of enterprise. It appears that he was persuaded to another one because he wanted to buy a ranch and he actually needed the bucks. So the overweight, overage Elvis showed up to grind it out.
In previous disappointing celluloid efforts he usually managed to pull off many scenes and songs with style and energy. Here his acting is dull and detached and despite the inclusion of three excellent ballads ("The Girl I Never Loved", "A House That Has Everything" and Ray Charles' "You Don't Know Me") his *singing* is also not up to par. [Indeed, he decided to recut the Charles number later that year].
I recommend viewing this picture in a double-feature mode: run the "'68 Comeback Special" as the second feature and appreciate the contrast.

Summary: CHARISMATIC
Review: ITS STRANGE THAT THIS IS ONE OF THE LEAST APPRECIATED ELVIS MOVIES BUT YET APPEARS TO BE ONE OF HIS BETTER MOVIES.THE BASIC PLOT OF THE MOVIE HAS ELVIS STARRING AS A RICH MANS SON TRYING TO GET PEOPLE TO APPRECIATE HIM AND NOT HIS MONEY.HE GOES ON TO TRADE IDENTITIES WITH A WATER SKI INSTRUCTOR HOPING TO BE TREATED AS A INDIVIDUAL AND NOT A MILLIONAIRES SON. ELVIS PLAYS ONE OF HIS BEST ROLES AS HE APPEARS TO BE LAID BACK .AS USUAL ELVIS CHARM AND CHARISMA MAKES THE MOVIE GREAT, I WOULD DEFINATELY RECOMMED THIS VIDEO .ITS A TYPE OF MOVIE YOU CAN NEVER GET SICK OF .THIS MOVIE IS GREAT!

Summary: If you like EP, you'll love this one
Review: Like every 1966-67 Elvis movie, you have pretty girls in slight outfits, EP loves a girl that another wants (and usually has for a while anyway), EP has to fight someone, EP sings with children, EP has to win something (ie: auto race, boat race, high diving, etc., EP sings really dumb songs but usually has at least one really good one (You Don't Know Me and The Girl I Never Loved), lots of Memphis Mafia in the background (Red West, Ice Cream Man, Charlie Hodge the Barber, Joe and Richard in bit parts at the Clambake - note no clams shown) and EP gets the girl. Las Vegas, Hawaii, Mexico, Florida, anywhere they are all the same and that includes spending 2 hours just looking at this wonderfully handsome man. If you love just seeing him this one is for you.

Summary: Purely for Elvis fans...
Review: Not one of Elvis's best movies, but it has some good songs in it and parts of the storyline are not too bad. I felt this DVD was not compressed too well, the picture is fuzzy in parts and there are original old-Reel markings in some scenes. The sound is OK but overall it should have been much better quality considering DVD is suppose to be better than VHS.- I would wait for a second release. Thanks.

Summary: Elvis Presley MAGNIFIC Movie MORAL and Great Ideal Man
Review: Probably in a currently society that NOT have as great value Marriage and Moral without prematrimonial respect this is a UP DATED Movie , however for Romantic spirits that believe in love forever and respect to a women and the virginity ideal , Elvis Presley in this Beautifull movie is a exemplar Gentelman

This is a very beautiful movie too . The Technicolor scenes in nature are really magnifics! The beach scenes of Yatching are of great realism. The color of the movie is the best in Technicolor. The natural scenaries have details for see again and again . Unfortunelly for my i not see view this movie since 1977 year of death of Elvis Presley UNTIL Now Jannuary 2001 , 24 years waitiong see view again this MAGNIFIC Movie , fortunely for me i now see this movie forever , in thuis days i see 2 or 3 by day! As in Casablanca (That i have not only in VHS to in the Teatrical CINEMA 16MM Version in 3 Reels of 1600 Feets 16MM CINEMA) i discover new details and more attention to each scene .

I REALLY LOVE THIS MOVIE HEARTBREAK HOTEL HOTEL DE CORAZONES DESTROZADOS in Spanish and in English aka CLAMBAKE

Magnific the commentary from CANADA and the mass media have HATE to Moral Films for this motive is quasi CENSURED (Subversive Degenerated CENSURE ; NOT GOOD CENSURE , NOT MORAL CENSURE) for 24 Years over TV ; i expect that this comentary is NOT HELP for the currently society for that this Moral movie is ONLY FRIVOLOUS at least in IMDB

Too is valuated in this INSPIRATIONAL Movie a MAN that want NOT fun entertainment ; that want a mission auto imposed and with spirit of auto sacrifice AS OLD FASHIONED WAY

Summary: Fluff, but darn good fluff!
Review: Sure, it's an Elvis movie, and yes, it is a big wad of fluff, but it's still great. This movie won't change your life, save the world, or teach your kids to read...it won't do anything but really really entertain you. Since when is that a bad thing?
