Review: ...For any Parent Trap fan, you need to get the DVD version. I was blown away by all the bonus footage in this version, most already mentioned by previous reviewers. There must be at least an additional 2-3 hours worth of extras. The version with Hayley and David Swift narrating is amazing, and is so interesting to listen to their commentaries. I was so happy to see so many of the cast interviewed, Hayley, Sharon (forgot her last name: who played the double in some of the scenes) Maureen O'Hara, Joanna Barnes, and even the Sherman Bros, whom I was so glad to finally see after all these (40) years! Even the commercials and a slide show that you can scroll through. Plus lots of scenes with Walt himself on the set. And biographies of the stars to boot with home movies! I still haven't seen it all, and I have watched about 2 hours worth besides the movie. I also have seen this movie about 30 times and never tire of it. One of my favorite scenes is when Leo G. Carroll discovers that Brian Keith has another wife (errr X-Wife)! He is just too cute for words! But the whole movie is wonderful, and Hayley is the best!
Buy the DVD, you will not regret it.

Summary: Simply a Winner
Review: The Parent Trap is, by far, my favorite movie. I couldn't tell you exactly how many times I've seen it, but it would probably be somewhere around 300 times. I know it word for word, and can actually quote the movie for someone at any time, which I have done quite a bit, along with my sister, Jennifer. The Parent Trap stars Hayley Mills playing twin daughters of a divorced couple (Brian Keith and Maureen O'Hara). The girls, who have long been separated, meet accidentally for the first time at summer camp. After discovering they are long-lost twin sisters, the two concoct an outrageous scheme to switch places in an effort to get their parents back together. Personally, I don't like the new Parent Trap. The old one is just... classic. Although, I have done a "survey" with my friend, Elizabeth (another fan of the old one), and found that kids born from 1990 and up seem to like the new Parent Trap better than the old one, while it's opposite with people born from 1989 and below. Summary: Let's watch this movie, yeah, yeah, yeah!
Review: I love this movie so much that it's surprised me that I've taken so long to review it. But this movie is GREAT!

It's about two girls, Susan Evers and Sharon Mckendrick, who meet at summer camp, and are shocked and surprised to find out that not counting their hairstyles, they look exactly alike! The initial curiosity leads to feuding and the girl's wind up in an isolation tent alone...for the rest of the summer.

Rain, wind, and an open window eventually break the ice, and Susan and Sharon begin to get to know each other. But when Sharon shows Susan a picture of her mother, Susan instantly recognizes it as her mother, and the girls discover that they are SISTERS!!!!!!!

To make a long story short, Susan and Sharon switch places in a wild attempt to get their parents back together. But their plans are nearly crashed when their dad announces his intent to marry a vain, uppity lady named Vicky. Can Susan and Sharon rally together and get their parents back together before something awful happens? Watch this exciting movie starring the adorable Hayley Mills as Susan and Sharon, to find out!

Hayley Mills has got to be one of my favorite actresses, and this has got to be the best film ever. She is just so good!

The DVD is just filled with extras, and if you want to see another DVD with the same amount of extras, see 'Pollyanna', another one of Hayley Mills movies, which is also awesome.

A couple years ago Disney made a remake of the Parent Trap, and although the special effects are probably much better, you can't reproduce the same charm that Hayley Mills gave us when this movie first came out. The original is always the best!
Bottom line: See this movie, and I promise you, you won't regret it.

Review: Grab your pillow, your favorite stuffed animal and head into the family wagon! Wait! Come Back! Okay, the days of the Drive-in movie are all but gone. But, the folks from Disney have created a terrific alternate experience with their "Vault Disney" DVD series. Each film fully restored, commentaries and documentaries galore and a cartoon short preceding it making the evening a family event just like the Drive-in... without the fumes or the fighting with your brother.

This time around, we'll catch the family favorite THE PARENT TRAP starring Haley Mills of POLLYANNA fame and ...umm... Haley Mills who also starred in POLLYANNA. She plays teenage twins that were separated as toddlers. Now, having grown up with their single parent, they are opposites. But, their sisterly love takes over and a scheme to reunite their estranged folks is put into play!

Writer/Director David Swift does a great job with this domestic comedy. He balances the girls' hi-jinx, their parent's stubborn independence and plenty of special effects with confidence and intelligence. The pacing standard for film in the sixties was quite different then today, so some scenes redundant scenes exist and the resulting film is over 2 hours. Today, family films come in around an hour forty minutes. Disney song men The Sherman Brothers made their first full feature musical offering with the toe-tapping The PARENT TRAP, although only a couple numbers are emphasized. Brian Keith and Maureen O'Hara are great as the opposing parents. Both extremely attractive and enrolling, you want them both to build a bridge re-connecting their relationship. But, the focus of this story is on Sharon and Susan and Haley Mills, trying to disguise her proper British Accent, is as likeable as the material allows.

The Disney Organization continues to provide its fan base with many smiles with its DVD output. The vault collection also includes other family favorites POLLYANNA, SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON and OLD YELLER. They have also started their archive collection, which includes THE SILLY SYMPHONIES, the entire DAVY CROCKETT series, important episodes of DISNEYLAND, and color MICKEY MOUSE cartoons. Let's keep 'em coming!

Summary: Entertaining Movie, A Bit Dated, But One Thing:...
Review: The movie's very entertaining on its merits, despite being a tad dated in the new millenium. However, in the perspective of the 60's, quite well done. The one thing that has ALWAYS bothered me about this movie and critical responses to it is the underlying fact that what these 'parents' did to their children, splitting them up, never letting either know about the twin or even seeing the other child for 12 years, is just HORRIBLE and, worse, is virtually a non-issue with the family. Yes, it is mentioned, but never truly explained nor could it be: such an action is never justified or defensible. This is also true of the recent remake, and perhaps Hollywood should concentrate a bit more on common sense, morality and true family values rather than 'entertainment.'

Review: The Movie: The [original] Parent Trap is the BEST movie ever! I think that it is the best movie Disney has made, it's a Classic! Hayley Mills and the rest of the cast are absolutley perfect.
The DVD: WOW! this DVD is great...the sound is crisp and clear and the picture is bright and beautiful! Also, if you like special/extra features, this is the DVD 4U...it has TONS! Highly Reccommended, GET THIS MOVIE!

Summary: A warm and funny Disney classic!
Review: Few movies of my childhood had more of an emotional effect on me than "The Parent Trap." My introduction to this movie was the typical one for a Gen-Xer- watching it on "The Wonderful World of Disney." I remember being enthralled with this movie and can recall feeling a little depressed when it ended. I would be absolutely drawn into the story and wonder why girls as "cool" as "Sharon and "Susan" didn't go to my grade school. (I sometimes wonder whether this movie influenced my long-time attraction to short-haired tomboys which has unfortunately led to me developing crushes on several gay women over the years.)

I know I am not alone in my fondness for "The Parent Trap." It is one of Disney's most beloved movies and for good reason- it just exudes warm-hearted sentimentality. That Disney was able to pull this off is tribute to the director, writer, and actors because there is a VERY thin line between warm-hearted sentiment and treacly, syrupy schmaltz. "The Parent Trap" sometimes comes dangerously close to falling over the edge- that impromptu performance of "Let's Get Together" always made me cringe rather than tap my feet, but it never plunges into the well of sappiness.

However, I must ask has there ever been a more cruel child custody agreement? The parents divorce with each taking one of their twin daughters and then going off to live completely seperate lives. Neither parent seemed to make any attempt to stay in contact with the child in the other's custody or inform the sisters of their twin's existence. What kind of parents are these people? Oh, who cares!! It's a pointless exercise for an adult to over-analyze one of the great children's films. As a child I loved "The Parent Trap" for what it was- one of the funniest and most endearing movies that Disney has ever made. It's a true classic that has withstood the test of time.

Summary: A Look at The Parent Trap
Review: This movie is so endearing when you first watch it. I was in my pre-teens when I first watched The Parent Trap and for awhile I couldn't get enough of it. Finally, when I turned 19, my parents bought it on DVD for me as a birthday present. I do not get to watch my movies much, but I love this one. It is one I never did grow out of yet and I don't think I ever will. It is the story about two twin daughters, Susan and Sharon, who meet at a summer camp and find out that they are twins. They then come up with a plan to switch places to bring their separated parents, Mitch and Maggie, back together. Susan goes to Boston and tries act like a refined young lady while Sharon goes out west to be a tom-boy girl. They run into some problems, but they are able to bring their parents back together in the end. This is a funny, loving, and a wonderful movie to watch, especially for young teenage girls. It may be some-what out-dated, but it is still a great and touching movie. Please, parents, if you are shopping for your young girl, buy this movie for them. I enjoyed it.
