Review: Sheesh! Never ask a girl with no sense of humor to the prom!

Summary: Classic example of 70s horror, if somewhat dated
Review: Although widely regarded as one of the classic horror films of the 70s CARRIE is one of those movies that has moments you love AND hate for a variety of reasons. The first adaptation of a Stephen King novel, CARRIE is notable for jump starting the careers of many involved.Carrie White is a high school misfit who lives in a rundown house with her fanatically religious mother.
The film opens with Carrie having her first period in the girls shower room. Ignorant because of her mothers religious beliefs, Carrie thinks she is dying, but when she turns to the other girls for help the other girls pelt her with tampons and chant "Plug it up!". When one of the teachers intervenes to help Carrie the lights in the locker room mysteriously explode.Carrie is sent home to her religious fanatic mother (Piper Laurie, returning to film after a lengthy hiatus) One of the girls who joined in the hazing, Susan Snell (Irving) feels ashamed and asks her boyfriend Tommy Ross (William Katt) to take Carrie to the prom as a special favor. However her nemesis, Chris Hargensen (Nancy Allen) is not so sympathetic and having been barred from attending the prom, when she hears Carrie is going she gets her boyfriend Billy Nolan (John Travolta) and his friends to kill a pig so they can dump the blood on her at the prom. Amazing that even dimwits like them can see the symbolism in the shower of blood. But come the night of the prom, predictably all hell breaks loose...
For those of you who haven't seen the movie to go any further would be to spoil it, but there have been some changes from King's novel, especially the classic final 20 minutes. The movie is lighter than the book, and De Palma does a good job on a limited budget. But the film is almost embarressingly dated in places (William Katt's hair for starters) and I hope the TV remake airs in NZ. That said, CARRIE remains one of the best adaptations of Stephen King to film, and is still fun Halloween viewing more than 25 years later.

Review: I love this movie!! It's my favorite Horror movie! It's about a High School girl named Carrie White (Sissy Spacek) who tormented by her classmates and religious freak mother. (Piper Laurie). Sue Snell's (Amy Iviring) boyfriend Tommy Ross askes Carrie to the Prom. One of the girl's, Chris Harginson, plan's to do a mean prank. The Prom is a dream come true for Carrie, but it's a nightmore for everyone else, from her evil power's It's a scary, but very sad movie at the end. I recommend this movie to all Horror and Stephen King fan's!:)

Summary: Great terror flick
Review: I watched this movie back when I was young but, now when I watch these old movies on DVD it's like watching them for the first time. They are in their true form. Well, most of them. So, it was really like the first time watching this flick and it scared the [heck] out of me at the end. Some moments are very tender and uplifting like when Carrie is at the dance with her date and he really wants to be kind to her not cruel. But then, everybody dies and it is basically just horror and it is very sad for Carrie. I love all the new restored DVD's out there like this one and I highly recommend it. The clear sharp picture and great soundtrack in hi-fi stereo sent chills up my spine.

Summary: Absolutely Classic Tight Little Horror Film!
Review: This movie, based on the very first book from my favorite horror
author, Stephen King, is so well-acted, well-scripted, and
entirely believable despite the telekenesis aspect, that I'm
hard-pressed to find a more modern movie which can top it. The
DVD is especially beneficial as many of the more gruesome
filmmaking techniques are explained and the casting process and photo gallery are quite enlightening. Carrie's revenge is well-worth watching and purchasing!

Summary: A Disapointment
Review: I first saw Carrie: The Rage II, before I saw this Carrie (1976). I liked it, and thought that the original would be even better, aside from some lesser bad special effects. I didn't get the chance to see it until after I saw the remake Carrie (2002), made for television just a few days ago. This blew me out of my mind. The plot was amazing, shocking, and excellent. The characters were defined and the time was used wisely to get in depth with them. Carrie herself was believeable, and was rather psychotic, which made complete sense. I couldn't wait to see the original. But I was immediatly let down. Carrie, in the (1976), acts like a backward hick girl, and pretty normal, and the kids don't torment her much at all, and it made no sense for her to create the masscre in the gym. In the remake (2002) she is obviously crazy, and the whole time she is losing control of her mind and powers, where as in the(1976), it doesn't lead up to her complete breakdown, and it is impactless. The acting is bad, and all the characters are all underdevolped. Only the mother is well represented, and done even better in the (2002) version. Of course the effects in the new one are mind blowing, and creative, and more time is put into the climax, as well as the whole movie. Though it is presently unavailable, I recommend anyone who likes this version, to buy the new version whenever it comes to video or DVD. It is excellent. Or Carrie: The Rage II. Both are certainly better than the original.

Summary: Excellent dvd
Review: CARRIE is one of my favorite horror flicks, so there isn't anything bad I can say about this. The dvd is a nice package, with lots of extra tidbits. The movie is fabulous...scary, disturbing....Piper Laurie as Carrie's mother is amazingly evil.

Summary: This movie is so mest up!
Review: This is one of the most disturbing movies ever made! It's really scary and disguisting! The best King movie is Salem's Lot, but this is right up there with it. I would recommend this to any horror fan!
