Summary: Great seventies horror
Review: I'm sure we can all identify with Carrie White. This film is sure to bring up high school memories, about how it is to feel like you don't fit in, you're painfully shy, and you go home in the afternoon to a bunch of arguing. The difference here is that Carrie (Sissy Spacek) discovers she has the power to move things. Bullied by her religiously fanatical mother and her cruel classmates, she gets her just revenge on prom night. Great cast, including young up-and-comers Sissy Spacek, Amy Irving, William Katt, Nancy Allen, P.J. Soles, and Edie McClurg. John Travolta is a hoot as how Vinnie Barbarino might appear if he was even more of a dummy. No explicit sex but some VERY terrifying moments. A must for any horror collection.

Summary: Good DePalma Film
Review: Excellent photography and fine performances by Spacek and Laurie take our minds off of the silly dialogue between Allen and Travolta. The prom scene delivers what we want in wonderful DePalma slow-mo and NOBODY does it like he can. I have this movie in my collection and still enjoy it.

Summary: GREAT HORROR MOVIE...
Review: THIS IS A GREAT HORROR MOVIE, SISSY SPACEK AS A SHY, TIMID CARRIE IS GREAT. YOU FEEL SORRY FOR HER THRU THE WHOLE MOVIE, AND SHE GETS HER REVENGE IN THE END. HELL HATH NO FURY LIKE A WOMEN SCORNED IS THE BEST WAY TO DESCRIBE IT. HER RELIGIOUS FREAK OF A MOTHER IS GREAT. SHE THINKS BECAUSE HER CARRIE'S FATHER RAPED HER WHEN THEY WERE TOGETHER AND THE POWER CARRIE HAS IS A SIN AND SHE GOES OVERBOARD REPENTING AND MAKES CARRIE PRAY WITH HER. AMY IRVING IS EXCELLENT IN THIS MOVIE, SHE TRIES TO BE A FRIEND TO CARRIE WITHOUT LETTING HER POPULAR FRIENDS KNOWING IT. THE ENDING IS GREAT AND WILL SCARE THE HELL OUT OF YOU. THIS MOVIE IS WELL MADE AND THE CAST IS SUPERB. THE SPECIAL EFFECTS ARE GREAT. THIS IS A MUST SEE MOVIE.

Summary: I Give it 4 Stars Because...
Review: I didn't think CARRIE was a bad movie, but it wasn't anything like the book. Carrie's rage had built up and overflowed into telekintetic powers, mostly by her mother's beyond-eccentric Pentecostal religious beliefs and her schoolmate's cruel humiliation. Carrie slowly but surely rebells, and her telekinetic powers completely exhaust themselves during the final showdown of planned humiliation. Again, it was not a bad movie, but was somewhat short of phenomonal by todays standards. I also reccomend THE RAGE: CARRIE 2, and FIRESTARTER.

Summary: Oh, please.....
Review: The book was about a million times better than the movie. Although I have to say that the movie is well-pased, and the acting was good. I didn't think it was scary at all, except for the end when a bloody hand(Carrie's hand?) grabs Sue. I almost had a heart attack on that one.(There wasn't anything like that in the book!) And I read the other reviews that said that Mrs.White was scary, but she wasn't. The Mrs.White described in the book seems more scarier. For those who haven't watched the movie yet, take my advice and read the book first. It's a lot better.

Summary: They're all gonna laugh at you!
Review: "Carrie" is one heck of a movie. It's horror and drama all wrapped up in one. Sissy Spacek plays the timid Carrie White, a girl who is tormented by her classmates, and abused by her religious fanatic mother, Margaret (Piper Laurie). No one likes her, except for her gym teacher Miss Collins (Betty Buckley), but after a terrible prank in the girls locker room, one of the pranksters, Sue Snell (Amy Irving) feels sorry for what she did and asks her popular football player jock boyfriend Tommy (William Katt) to ask Carrie to the prom. He agrees and for once, the audience is happy for Carrie, seeing she is having a great time at the prom, but the evil Chris Hargenson (Nancy Allen) decides to pull a prank on Carrie that proves all too deadly. This film is fantastic. It is a cross between drama (the first half) and complete horror (the second half). The weird thing is, you really do feel sorry for Carrie! The way she is tormented by her classmates and her mother is awful, but the viewer knows about her new "powers" and she really makes use of them during that prom! By the way, in case anyone is confused by this, Carrie was imagining her classmates laughing at her, they really weren't. Based on the novel by Stephen King, it spawned numerous imitations and was followed by a sequel 23 years later.
