Review: When I read the book by Margaret Mitchell, I found that it was as long and as epic as the Bible( the book is approximately 1,024 pages) but it was worth reading. The story is unforgettable, masterfully written and touching. When I saw the movie, I was impressed. The vivid scenes, the action, the romance, it's Hollywood at its finest. And it was true to the book. Gone With The Wind is a movie that cannot be beat. Spectacular crowd scenes, like the Ten Commandments, are in it, for example the Confederate Soldiers lying on the ground scene. Particularily touching was the Tara theme. Scarlett, as self-centered as she is, can not put her homeland above anything else. Throughout the movie she labors and schemes to keep her family in Tara safe. She must be credited for that. Melanie was a dream. Rhett Butler is heroic. Even with flaws, the characters are good at heart. Buy this movie ! It deserves to be in your movie pile at home. Fall in love with Gone With The Wind as I did. And who cannot forget the famous lines ? " Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn " and " Tomorrow is another day ".

Review: The most gorgeous man to walk the earth. These two have unmatched screen chemistry. One of the handful of movies that withstand the test of time. Vivian Leigh is also amazing.

Summary: One of the greatest movies ever done.
Review: This movie (taken almost directly from the book)is a very good historical record of life in The South at that time. I'm sorry that everyone who wants to change history will not like to hear that, but there it is. Not all plantation owners mistreated their slaves. Racist? I think not! This movie showed (if you will look closely) how Scarlett treated everyone the same. Also, at that time in history, the Northern Officer's wives wouldn't even let the Black women in their homes, but the Southern women let them nurse their babies! This movie had so many subtle messages you must watch it many times to grasp them all. There was not a mediocre actor cast in this movie. All played their parts wonderfully. Todays actors - with few exceptions - should take lessons.

Review: Great Movie of course. Needs the widescreen treatment on DVD (which this edition does not offer). Also, it is done in Dolby Digital but it is not 5.1 as the description indicates.

Review: After finally renting this movie to see what has been touted as one of the greatest of all time, I was a tad disappointed. While the technical merits of this film are incredible, extravagent costumes and meticulously-rendered sets do not a classic make. I did like the overall idea of the story being told from the point of view of South, but this movie seemed to present the Antebellum Confederacy as a fairyland of joy and happiness in which even the slaves did not mind working for their "honorable Suthun gentlemen." This film also left me wanting more characters with whom to empathize. Truly, how anyone could feel sorry for a character like Scarlett is beyond me. I kept hoping that at some point, she would wake up and realize that her annoyingly egoistic universe had been shredded and burned along with the rest of northern Georgia during Sherman's warpath. Such was not the case. And for those of you reading this who have yet to see the movie, I hope that your threshhold for melodrama is fairly high because this picture will test it. Only the dreadful "Legends of the Fall" puts more effort into attempting to wring every tear out of your head with unending death and tragedy. Perhaps I am too much a movie fan of the modern day, enjoying the works of Kubrick, Tarantino, Scorsese and the Coen brothers, to objectively judge a film such as Gone With the Wind. But despite the fact that this film certainly does have its merits, it fell a bit flat in my opinion in terms of characterization and realism.

Review: I believe that this was a well-made movie. Vievien Leigh, Clark Gable, and many of others spent their time searching for history in the making. Vivien, who portrayed as Scarlett, was a young beautiful woman who had naturally flocked many of young men, and older men as well. Scarlett loved a man that was only living his life on dreams...She didn't realize that he had never truly loved her. Scarlett got married to Rhett, but she actually had never realized that she loved him, until Ashley's wife, Melanie had died and it was too late....When he had left her. If you are a person that loves Romantic novels, with a lot of action-Than you should consider watching this movie about a land that was once more beautiful than ever, once destroyed by a war...A land that first didn't mean nothing to Scarlett, A land that was worth living for, dying for, and setting a new life for Scarlett. If you watched Gone with the wind, than you should watch its sequel SCARLETT.

Summary: Great for it's time; OK in the 90's
Review: Gone with the Wind used to be my favorite movie of all time. I hadn't seen it for a while but my dad recently bought a copy of it. This movie was directed very well for the most part in respect to everything but the acting. Some shots in the movie are truly beautiful. The story is great and the script seems good. What bothered me while watching this movie for the first time in a few years was the acting. The only two people who seemed to know anything about acting were Vivien Leigh and Hatty MacDowell. The rest of the cast have about as much talent as most high school plays I've seen. I've been told it was the style of acting back then but I don't see how bad acting could ever be a style. Especially disappointing was the performance of Clark Gable. He in no way lives up to the rich description of Margaret Mitchell's Rhett Butler. Most of the time he looks like an actor in front of a camera, not a real person. This is still a favorite film of mine and I think everyone should see it. Vivien Leigh is incredible as the woman we all love to hate. It amazes me how much better she is than the rest of the cast. But don't see this movie if you're looking for good acting, there is too little of that in this movie to bother

Review: This movie has earned the title of best ever made in my book. Everything about it is perfect. The people who gave it the bad reviews just do not understand. This is not meant to be a movie promoting racism. It is simply depicting life during the Civil War Era. Saying that the characters were portrayed too racist in this film is like saying the Germans were too mean in "Saving Private Ryan". I'm sorry if you do not like historical accuracy but i think it makes the movie all the better. The social flaws in the characters make them intriging to watch. The message in this movie is a great one in my opinion. It shows that if you mistreat people it will come back around to you, even if you become a thoughtful person. That is the ultimate lesson Scarlett learns and what I think anyone watching it will learn too. Go buy this movie. It needs to be in your video collection

It shows how a strong, stubborn Southern woman gets through the hard times living in the South, and surviving through it all. Every movie goer needs to see this movie. It will make them aware about their country's history and the history of the cinema.
