Review: Elizabeth Taylor gave a stunning performance in 1963s Cleopatra.The sets were magnificent and so realistic. All of the actors were great in their parts. I went to see it in person in 1963 on the big screen all 6 hours complete.The small screen does not do this film justice.A lot of people seem to dislike this film for one reason or another,but 20th Century Fox should reissue this film in it's full length directors cut fully restored and just maybe people would see what some us mean.

Review: Liz Taylor did not win an Oscsar for this film - she won for Butterfield 8 and Virginia Wolfe. If it were not for Rex Harrison, I would not have made it through the first half. Bad and Boring.

Summary: Lost in the Sand
Review: The real tragedy of Cleopatra seems to be that she is doomed to be associated with this incredibly long, exceptionally tedious film, which attempts to compensate for lack of script, weak performances, and clearly studio-shot scenes with occasional bursts of irrelevant spectacle. With little to recommend it beyond the idea of Elizabeth Taylor as the famous queen-- a role which she plays rather poorly-- the film remains one of the single most boring motion pictures ever made.

Summary: Not tonight dear its my pyramid...
Review: Well I have yet to see this film 67 times,but I have seen it twice.Elizabeth Taylor is one fabulous broad who looks spectacular whatever century she chooses to dress up in.But Cleo should have eased up on the eyeliner a bit here I think. Burton is ...adequate but Harrison & McDowall really give it their professional all.There are also some interesting cameos from Martin Landau and a young Francesca Annis.The sets were fabulous(the only superlative that fits here) and didnt you just love that grand entrance into Rome...incognito!?.All you Queens take note.This is how its done. Apparently it was a difficult film to make what with one reason or another.Taylor had to be hospitalized at one stage and of course this was where her & Burton started there long relationship.But all this takes 2nd place to an otherwise noteworthy movie which unfortunately missed its mark with the critics and especially the public.Hope they do a comedy remake with Ellen Degeneres as Cleo and Jerry Seinfeld as Mark Anthony.Id pay to see that. Meantime I might even watch this one again.

Review: Does anyone have any idea how much 40 million dallars in 1963 would be worth today? There is no way anyone could make a movie like Cleopatra today! its too bad that we cant see the entire six hour directors cut of this movie to see exactly what he intended ( 20th century fox are you listening!!!) In my opinion Cleopatra is the greatest movie EVER made. Ive seen it about 67 times!!!

Review: Cleopatra is an amazing story that was transformed onto the screen in an amazing and brilliant way. This film is so timeless and perfect. Elizabeth Taylor is simply brilliant and plays her part so well that you feel as though you are there and it is truly an amazing experience! Burton fits his part perfectly with all the power of Caesar himself. The acting is unsurpassed and cannot be equalled. If you want to see a truly phenominal film that has what most of our movies today do not (great stories), then you must see, Cleopatra (1963). Now this is no 60's skin flick, this film is Oscar all the way and does not use Cleopatra's sexual charms to pull it through. Cleopatra is timeless and truly entertaining. Elizabeth Taylor won the Best Actress Oscar in 1963 for her portrayal as Cleopatra. This film is a must see for every movie lover.

Review: An exceptionally entertaining if not always accurate portrayal of Cleopatras life and times. One of the best movies I've ever had the pleasure of viewing. With the support of a superb cast Elizabeth Taylor is captivating as Cleopatra.

Summary: Fine, but incredibly boring
Review: This was an okay movie. Roddy McDowell did a pretty good job as Octavian, Rex Harrison and Richard Burton were fine as Caeser and Antony, but Elizabeth Taylor didn't give an espicially interesting portrayal of Cleopatra, and the makeup job on her wasn't very flattering. Cleopatra was in her 20's at the time this movie took place, but, unfortunatly, Taylor, usually so beautiful and young-looking, looks much older here. Towards the end, in the battle scenes, the movie drags and gets to be excrutiatingly boring. And anyone expecting steam between Taylor and Burton isn't going to find much here. They must have saved that for their offscreen lives.

Review: I would recommend this movie to anyone. This was an amazing epic! Don't miss any of it. It is very acurite in historical nolage. The acting was superb.
