Summary: Are you "Cat?"
Review: "There once was a very lovely, very frightened girl who lived alone, except for a nameless cat."For the many of us who fear marriage (i.e. commitment), this is the most INCREDIBLY romantic movie ever made. Unlike the faux "romantic" movies of our time that somehow require explicit sex scenes and the "R" ratings that ensue to "earn" the label of "romantic," this movie defines the TRUE meaning of the word. "Breakfast at Tiffany's" will strike an especially serious chord with those of us who have wondered, in our cynicism, if those who SAY they love us, in fact, DO love us for who we ARE rather than for whatever material wealth we may possess. In short, those who can witness, without tears, the final moments of this brilliant film deserve our pitty. Those who cannot deserve our commitment. P.S. I am not "Rat" or "Super Rat" or even "Scared Little Mouse." I am "Cat." Are you?

Summary: Cross 'Moon River' and enter this great film..........
Review: Audrey Hepburn is a delight as Truman Capote's world-weary call girl Holly Golightly in BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S. She plays Holly in a very eccentric way, hinging on her confusion between the life she had, the life she has and the life she thinks she has. George Peppard plays a struggling author who moves into the flat near hers, and the gradually form an attachment, and then slowly fall in love. The scene where Holly receives word that her brother has died in battle is one of complete and pure raw emotion. Those people who believe that Audrey was just a pretty face and could'nt really act should watch that scene. A delighting, exiting, dizzying romp with a great score by Henry Mancini. A real treat.

Review: I always heard of this movie, but never actually saw it! It was untill only a couple of days ago that I actally did. Audrey Hepburn was one of the most beautiful actresses I ever seen. Her style, and the way she carried herself all together is probally what every girl want to be like. She was a very talanted actress, and a beautiful woman. When I saw this movie, I really enjoyed every moment. Not only does Audrey Hepburn give a great performance, but George Peppard gives a good performance also. I was very caught up in the movie! I personally enjoyed the beginning, because I think it's what many people do, especially women (including me ). When you see it you'll know what I am talking about, and if you saw it then you already know. I definately recomend this movie to everyone, especially those who love romantic movies.

Summary: A True Classic in WIDESCREEN
Review: I feel it almost unnecessary to comment on the beauty of the movie, as I hope you have already seen this Clasic Hepburn film. Beautiful romance, and acting. But what is so exciting about this release for me is the widescreen format, and the quality. I am far to young to have been able to see this in the theatre, so this was my first chance to see the movie in the aspect it was originally intended. Through the widescreen format you can really see the films beauty and what your were missing. The quality of this anamorphic DVD is also phenomenal for such an old film. Color saturation and grain is very good. If you liked Breakfast at Tiffany's, own it on VHS, or have never seen it, you must have the DVD>

Summary: More Depth than you might expect
Review: I was surprised at the number of reviews that state that this is a lighthearted, airy, feel-good comedy. I actually found it very dark. Peeling away the layers of the airiness of the feel (remember, this was written by Truman Capote), you actually get a very complex story and commentary on the emptiness of life. This is one of my favorite movies for that very reason.

Summary: Bittersweet romance
Review: I could watch this movie a million times! Holly Golightly and Paul Varjak have earned a permanent place in my affections. Whatever can be said about this movie, its charm is undeniable. Audrey Hepburn is Holly Golightly, a frivolous young woman with a highly sensitive core. Though she goes out with men and survives on the $50 tips they give her, she is only saving so that she and her brother Fred can get to a ranch in Mexico. And George Peppard is the handsome young "kept man" who moves in upstairs. The movie follows the intertwined lives of the two as they grow into friends, and then fall in love. But Holly's past and future, and Varjak's present threaten what might be for them. Holly lives a life of glamor, parties, fun and brilliance, but she seems to feel an inner emptiness that she salves with alcohol. It's her willingness to sell herself in marriage to a rich man that jolts Varjak into his own life. He spends most of the movie in a stagnant relationship with a cold older woman, who keeps him from being independent of her money. Buddy Ebsen costars as a puzzle piece from Holly's past, as middle-aged horse doctor Doc Golightly. He married Holly when she was only fourteen, but even though the marriage was annulled he can't come to terms with it. It's a little disturbing to watch his apparent obsession with "Lullamae." Micky Rooney plays the ill-conceived Mr. Yunioshi, Holly's Japanese landlord. Even though he is a clear stereotype, I feel kind of sorry for him. Holly's lived in that building for an entire year, and evidently he's gotten no peace. ;) The party scene is worth the price of the movie at least: Mag Wildman's raucous entry into the party; the making out in the bathtub; Mag's drunken "You know what's gonna happen to you? I am gonna march you over to the zoo and feed you to the yak"; Holly shouting "TIMBEEEEERRR!" as Mag keels over; the watch on the woman's ankle; and oodles more. Yes, this movie is romantic, because it's about two people becoming better human beings through their love. Holly isn't a strong woman, and Paul isn't a particularly good man, but together they shine so much brighter.

Summary: Collector's edition (Widescreen)
Review: I have never bought a collector's edition of a movie before until this one. Breakfast at Tiffany's is one of my favorite movies. Audrey Hepburn, with all her grace and charm, is a timeless actress that I will never grow tired of watching. Being that many of the other reviews wil tell you about the film and how wonderful it is, I will review this particular edition. Not only do you get a widescreen(supposedly) VHS, you will get 2) the Henry Mancini soundtrack - although void of "Moon River" with lyrics (as seen on the film), 3) A copy of Ms. Hepburn's script, autographed and with her notes, 4) 3 8x10 black and white photos (Holly at Tiffany's, Holly before going to SingSing, and the end scene -the kiss in the rain); and the final two are minor things - 5) a note from Blake Edwards and 6) a brochure entitled "Holly Golightly and the Mancini Magic". It was worth dishing out more money for the collector's edition. The Script was a delight to read, although some of her notes are NOT completely legiable. I must warn about the WIDESCREEN VHS: It isn't much of a widescreen. One can barely tell. I recently saw the film on TV in widescreen in which it was a TRUE widescreen. This collection was released at a time when widescreen VHS wasn't quite a big deal. I'm sure, as one DVD reviewer mention, the DVD is truer to color and probably a truer widescreen version.

Summary: One Of The Best Movies Of All Time
Review: To describe this movie in one word.....: you really can't. This movie has so many sides to it. The characters, the plot, the emotions. All of it is drawn together flawlessly into a timeless classic. I loved this movie. Audrey Hepburn was fantastic and should have gotten an Oscar. All other actors including the Japanese guy put out performances that were outstanding. I have never, ever, felt so good after watching a movie than I did after watching this. Whether you get DVD or VHS, you will love it and cherish it for many years. Definately recommended.

Summary: Refreshing Character to follow...
Review: I thought this movie was charming, light and extraordinarily modern for its time. Hepurn was perfectly cast for this role. (Marilyn Monroe, the first choice in casting, would not have done the film justice.) This is the first film of hers that I have seen, and now I am a fan. She is completely adorable in this character. I was intrigued by the storyline. It was different. One never sees many films about a free-spirited, indepedent women - very unlike the typical stereotype. She exuded such an appealing sense of innocence. She was free and non-judgemental. She didn't get hung up on men, like the typical hollywood romance. They came to her! Anyhow...for a little movie getaway to one woman's life in nyc - one not so caught up in the details, but caring and just trying to survive and have fun, without all the grand, ostentatious wealth (just basically playing dress up for fancy-sake)- she is a dreamer who runs into unexpected love. You come away feeling nice. One last comment - completely unexpected to have Mickey Rooney in this film, playing the Japenese landlord. More strange than funny.

Review: If you like oldies (& normally, I don't), you gotta see this one. This is a great love story, one that really has a nice plot, & hold a person's attention all the way to the end. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this movie, & even cried at the end! & that's not normal for me! I HIGHLY recommend this one for the romantic at heart!
