Summary: Two AMAZING Cary Grant movies
Review: His Girl Friday and Penny Serenade are two GREAT movies. I'll describe both of them for you:

Penny Serenade is an amazingly SAD and DRAMATIC film. I was practically drowning in my own tears at the end, even though I was laughing soooooo hard at the beginning. Grant's performance was Acadamy Award nominated, but he lost the Oscar to the very retarted and annoying Gary Cooper. Irene Dunne is, as always, simply stunning.

His Girl Friday--don't even get me started!! Hailed by several critics to be the greatest comedy ever made, I find this film to be extremely entertaining. Rosalind Russell is excellent as the (VERY) fast-talking, sharp-tongued Hildy Johnson--a woman torn between being a star reporter and having a real life. Cary Grant, playing Walter Burns, only complicates things. The movie does have some serious, dramatic scenes, but is overall a hilarious, wonderful comedy!!

TWO THUMBS WAAAAAAAAAY WAY UP FOR THESE TWO WAAAAAAAAY WAY COOL CARY GRANT, ROSALIND RUSSEL AND IRENE DUNNE MOVIES!!!!

Summary: Grant at his finest
Review: I love Cary Grant and after buying this product I was more than a little worried after reading two of the reviews... I am wondering if these people were looking at the same Disk I did... I have to say that the films were really pretty darn good. His Girl Friday was technically perfect as far as I could tell and Penny Serenade was just fine... I would have to say that overall I am very pleased and this DVD is a very good bargain.

Summary: Terrible transfer
Review: I love Irene Dunn. I long to see I Remember Mamma and some of her other wonderful films, but this transer to DVD stinks.

Summary: Good Movies but Especially My Girl Friday!
Review: I really like Cary Grant and this DVD has two of his movies, His Girl Friday and Penny Serenade. They are both good movies but personally I think His Girl Friday is the better of the two and in this one Cary Grant stars as a newspaper editor who does eveything he can to keep his star reporter (Rosalind Russell) who also happens to be his ex-wife from retirement and getting married to an insurance agent played by Ralph Bellamy. The whole cast is wonderful but especially Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell. Penny Seranade is good and about a couple with marital problems who want to adopt a child and his costar is Irene Dunne who starred in two screwball comedies with him, My Favorite Wife and The Awful Truth but truth to be told I preferred their screwball comedies to their dramatic movie. I'm rating this DVD only 3 stars because you can get these movies on other DVDs with better picture quality.

Summary: Such a shame
Review: Technically, I am afraid this double-bill is far below par. Images are blurred, sound is muffled and there is actually recurring sounds that seem to belong to another movie, like there was something on the flip side too which simmers through. The movies, especially the ever-touching, sophisticated and darkly hued 'Penny Serenade', are great, but are hardly served well by less than average technology.

Summary: Great films, fair DVD
Review: The rating is for DVD quality not for the films. Both of them are 4 stars films. But DVD quality is not as satisfactory. 2 stars for "Love Affair" and 3 stars for "Penny Serenade"

The price is great with two great films on one DVD. However,I wished the quality of DVD could have been a little better especially on "Love Affair" This is probably the best video available now but the DVD quality is still under my expectation.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: GOOD QUALITY DVD OF TWO GREAT CLASSICS!
Review: This is, by far, the best quality DVD versions of the films, PENNY SERENADE and LOVE AFFAIR, that I've purchased. Obviously, the producer of this DVD went to the trouble of securing good quality 35mm prints of these great classics to produce this DVD. On both movies, the picture quality is remarkably fine and sharp, and the sound quality is clear for the age of the films. The best part of this double feature DVD is the price--it's a steal. I'm throwing away my (awful) Madacy label DVDs of these films. This new DVD is fabulous.
