Summary: You can't go wrong; bonus footage alone is worth the price
Review: Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon, on the run from Chicago gangsters, disguise as female musicians and meet Marilyn Monroe. There's a lot more, and it's terrific. Comedy fans have justifiably praised "Some Like It Hot" as a classic. This "Special Edition" DVD makes a great show even better. Tony Curtis's recollections of the production are worth the price of the DVD; he's very candid, very amusing, and very charming. There's also a "then and now" look at four members of the "Sweet Sues" all-girl band (one of them reveals a juicy bit of inside information about Marilyn Monroe's publicity photos). The original pressbook is reproduced page by page, with the various newspaper ads and publicity ideas, and a selection of Billy Wilder coming-attractions trailers is included. You may not have time to enjoy all of the material in one sitting. Highly recommended.

Summary: Your gonna laugh your @$$ off!
Review: Some like it hot is one of those films that is just so damn charming and well written and acted you just wanna be in the film in any capacity. Lemmon and Curtis play two musicians on the lamb from the mob after witnessing a crime and they decide to hide out in an all female band thus the need for them to dress in drag. The first scene where they appear as females is classic! Curtis and his chisled face and Lemmon with his unmistakeable nose make the most ugly women in history! And when Lemmon opens his mouth and talk to the other females in the band his voice is hilarious and knee slapping funny. Monroe is her ususal self, vapid and blank but all the more needy but still amazingly alluring and it drives the scenes between Curtis and her character. But it's the plot tha shows the depth of the film this film has the supense of a thriler going for it when the mob arrives at the hotel the band is playing in. A special note should be made for Curtis' immiataion of Cary Grant when he dons his rich alter ego to impresss Monroe's character. This film will have you laughing for days. It's one of my favorite comedies and if I had never seen "Born Yesterday" with Judy Holliday and William Holden it would be my only favorite comedy!

Summary: And some just like it.
Review: I first saw this movie as a kid, and I thought it was funny. Now, more years later than I care to count, I think it's hilarious!Jack Lemon is amazing as Daphne, and Joe E. Brown - well, somehow I think he's still on that yacht off Hatteras. The plot isn't particularly original, but the scrip sparkles and the actors are dead on. That's what makes a movie classic, a well-told story with believable characters, and that is Some Like It Hot to a T.

Summary: Great! Even for non-Monroe fans
Review: Marilyn Monroe is my all time hero, but even I have to admit I don't like all her movies. Some Like it Hot is a comedy that anybody can enjoy time and again. The reason it was shot in black and white (for those who don't know) was because Jack and Tony's makeup gave their faces a greenish tint on color film. The jokes, one liners, and slapstick make this a classic that will live forever. The last line of the movie makes a stand as one of the all time greatest gags.

You better believe Marilyn sings in this one too. 'I wanna be loved by you', 'I'm through with love', and my favorite 'Running Wild' show her singing talents that she was never appreciated for in her day.

In the tradition of the Three Stooges, Abbot and Costello, and Laurel and Hardy, this movie has withstood the harshest test of all movies, time.

Summary: A Legendary Comedy
Review: I had the pleasure of watching "Some Like It Hot" for the first time recently. I had heard so many raves about it that I didn't think it would live up to expectations. Well, I was wrong.

"Some Like It Hot" is one of the funniest, best-acted, best-written, and best-directed comedies that you will probably ever see. It's main attraction is, of course, Marilyn, and deservedly so, for she is superb as Sugar Kane, the singer who wants to find a glasses-wearing millionaire with a yacht in Florida. Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis, as Jerry and Joe the starving musicians are equally adept in their comedic turns as they dress in drag ("Daphne" and "Josephine") in order to escape from gangster Spats (George Raft) after witnessing the St. Valentine's Day Massacre.

Why is this film such a legend? It's not the absolute funniest movie I've ever seen. I think its charm stems from the fact that it never goes for the cheap laugh (gee, can you even name a movie like that these days?) and can be genuinely funny and sweet without making fun or being coarse. Call me old-fashioned, but sometimes it's just nice to see that. Plus, you get to witness three superstars at the top of their games. Can it get any better?

Summary: This movie shows that Monroe had talent
Review: And she did as her performance in this film is funny, sweet, and very to the point. You really want to know this woman better and Tony Curtis certainly tries to romance her in one of his best performances on film shows. Great direction by Billy Wilder.

Summary: Monroe, Lemmon & Curtis in Unbridled Laughfest
Review: Prepare yourself for a delightfully entertaining, non-stop laugh riot watching this timeless, crackling comedy featuring Marilyn, Lemmon and Curtis at their celluloid best. Their witty repartee is simply the freshest, sharpest, funniest dialogue ever committed to one film. A huge tip of the hat to Wilder as producer, director and co-writer of this comedy gem. It's a pity the trio could not be reteamed in another film. Their on-screen chemistry is dynamite! Marilyn was never more luminously beautiful or better. Lemmon was just stretching his talented wings and Tony's underplaying is marvelous. Can't leave out Joe E. Brown as a dirty old millionaire! The DVD print is pristine, love the black and white cinematography, and the sound is sharp and clear. But, more importantly, savor two laugh-filled hours of this timeless comedy farce and marvel at the simplistic genius of Hollywood movie-making at its zenith. Alas, they don't make them like this anymore.
