Summary: GREATEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME
Review: This film is outstanding. It takes your breath away. The actors had a shining performance. It should have gotten a 100 oscars.

Summary: Did I see the same movie as everyone else?
Review: I love romance novels, but had never seen this movie (even with 50 years to do so). It was certainly beautiful. Clark Gable is probably the 2nd sexiest man ever born (behind Sean Connery), but other than that.... Scarlett O'Hara was just one nasty gal. As for the BORING Ashley Wilkes, well how could he ever have interested either Scarlett or Melanie. It's awfully hard to enjoy a story, no matter how beautiful, with such a cast of irritating or boring characters. Rhett should have married Melanie, bought Tara and freed Mammy. Everyone else, I could care less.

It was fun to see a young TV Superman in the beginning, however.

Summary: One of the greatest movies ever!
Review: I'm 15 and a HUGE classic movie buff I first saw this movie when I was about 13. I didn't understand everything that went on but I new it was something good. I bought the movie the day it came out again. Vivien Leigh was made for the part of Scarlett, and no one could ever imagine Rhett as anyone but Clark Gable. Even Joan Fontaine's sister (Olivia de Havilland) was good as Melanie. From the burning of Atlanta to Tara's Theme this is a movie to be cherished and watched again and again.

Summary: Great Movie--AWFUL Restoration
Review: When Warner Brothers bought Turner Entertaimment, they got "Gone With the Wind" in the deal. The film itself is GREAT--and to see one of the best documentaries on film making see "Gone With The Wind: Making of a Legend." The recent re-issue of "GWTW" was heralded as a "Full Restoration," but in fact only 30% of the shots were restored. Leave it to Warner Brothers! The Technicolor Print is VERY blown out and not to original color specifications. My recommendation is to find the LAST issue of the film on LD released by Ted Turner--it's the REAL deal. Even the sound is better!

Summary: The greatest Chrismas Present
Review: This movie is one of the graetest movies ever. When I saw that this film had come out on video tape I had to purchase it right away. I bought two of them and the other one is going to my mother for a christmas present. What a perfect present. And I promise you that it will come from her mouth as well.

Summary: Most fantastic movie even filmed!
Review: I have watched this movie over and over since I saw it years ago for the first time. They don't make movies like this anymore. It is bold and exciting and sticks to the book. There will never be another "Gone With the Wind". Young people go out and see it if you haven't. Learn what real movie making is all about.

Summary: An absolute must see, much more than 5 stars!
Review: As a longtime fan of the book, I read it when I was 12, I can't find words enough to praise this film. Like so many others, I've watched the movie to many times to count, and could see it again this minute. As a Southerner by birth, I can appreciate the depiction of the strength of the people, and the beauty of an era that was lost. As well as the necessity of that loss. The most gorgeously filmed movie ever put on the screen!!Though he felt he could never equal or surpass the legend he created, those of us who are true fans are forever grateful to Mr. Selznick for taking such pride and devoting so much to the making of the most beautiful movie ever made!!

Summary: Beautiful transfer, low on extras.
Review: I looked forward to purchasing this title for quite a long time -- the movie itself is very well done, the transfer is gorgeous, and I even like the "Intermission (flip the disc and get some popcorn)" aspect. Audio is remastered digitally with 5.1 channels, nice touch.

I AM disappointed, however on the total lack of extras this DVD offers, especially when the DVD was touted a long time ago as having bonus material. No behind the scenes (unless you call an 5-page booklet an "extra"), no trivia. As an idea of what this disc is SUPPOSED to have, take a look at the last page of the booklet - "Premiere Footage" "Screen Test" "Film Trivia." Perhaps in a future reissue (WHY???). For this, it loses a star.
