Summary: BOND IS IN LOVE
Review: Considering that FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE is a 1963 movie and BOND movies a genre in itself, this DVD deserves the perfect 5.

In DR. NO, the personage of James Bond was the motor of the movie. One year later, Terence Young, the director, was ready to present some interesting variants of the situations he created in DR. NO.

So, the first twenty minutes of FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE are a real pleasure for the film lover who sleeps in each one of us. Each scene is a subtile remake of the same scenes Terence Young shot one year before for DR. NO.

Then, the movie is divided into three sections of approximately 30 minutes : ISTANBUL - THE TRAIN SCENES - THE FINAL CHASE. And it becomes obvious that the character of James Bond isn't the main object of FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE as if all had already been said about him in DR. NO.

The villains are the real stars of this movie ; sadistic, cruel, they aren't only appearances whose destiny is only to be shot by 007. Their motivations are explained, they play with BOND who's unable to understand he's manipulated since the beginning of his mission.

Terence Young invites us to see what's behind the facts and shows us, in the first scene of the movie as well as in the last image of FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, that cinema is the subject of his work.

THE James Bond DVD you have to own.

Summary: A Brilliant Movie from Start to Finish...
Review: From Russia with Love certainly deserves the rank after Goldfinger and Thunderball as it's One of the Very Best Bond Movies. Most part of it remained true to the Novel which was very pleasant to watch. Q was introduced in this Movie and Connery really does some of his best work of his Bond ever. Daniela Bianchi who played Tatyana Romanova, the Russian Agent is surely one of the Top 5 Bond Girls. Robert shaw displays the perfect shades of the cunning character of Red Grant. The Briefcase remains the most memorable gadget ever used in a Bond Movie. It was Equipped with a Throwing Knife, 50 Gold Sovereigns, 20 rounds of Ammunition, an AR7 Sniper's rifle and a canister of tear gas. The plot is perfect and the most enjoyable scene is the Fight between Bond and Red Grant aboard the Orient Express. I'd highly recommend this Movie to everyone and any Bond Fan should not miss this one at any cost. The Movie is worth the Price.

Summary: The Best One!
Review: This is the best Connery Bond flick that was made by United Artists (I do not count Never Say Never Again). The plot is a classic Cold War-era theme with a twist: the British are tricked by who they think are Russians in order to get an important decoding machine. What the British do not know is that a third party is playing the British against the Russians. This film still has Connery as a very serious Bond, but he is smiling a bit more, and a few one-liners come out of him. The fight between him and Robert Shaw on the Orient Express is fantastic, especially with the blue lighting.

Introduced in this film is Bond's nemesis Ernst Stavro Blofeld, whose face is not shown here, and would not be seen for another four years. Blofeld is the head of the third party, named SPECTRE, which was referred to in Dr. No, but not discussed much beyond Dr. No working for them. This film is a great intro for new Bond fans who know only Pierce Brosnan at this point.

Summary: A truly macnificent film
Review: Due to the gadgets in the film being kept to a minimum this becomes a truly believeable bond epic. Sean Connery becomes more of a focal piece in the film as a concequence. It therefore provides the audience to appreciate the acting qualities of Connery that the latter bond films fail to allow. The supporting cast is also impressive.

Kerim Bay played by Pedro Armanderaiz, (who died of cancer shortly after filming) is certainly one of the best portrayed allies of bond throughout the series. This is mainly because of the chemistry of the two acters. The late, great Robert Shaw is also collossal as Red Grant, the main baddy employed by S.P.E.C.T.R.E. Connery and Shaw are excellent in one of the best fight scenes in cinema history.

A must buy for any person who appreciates fine screne entertainment.

Summary: Brilliant
Review: Arguably the best Bond film ever. This movie epitomises everything a Bond SHOULD be. The series started nosediving after this (although Goldfinger was quite good). Connery is at his charismatic and rugged best.Shaw is a great henchman, second only to Oddjob. Connery and Shaw provide one of the best fist fights in cinematic history. Hopefully with Brosnan the Bond movies can hit these heights again.

Summary: Best Bond
Review: The second of the Bond films and probably the best. Exotic locations, dangerous bad guys and woman, Connery in top form. The characters actually have depth in this one. Still a great film after 35 years.
