Summary: Still one of the best!
Review: No matter how many times I see this movie, it grabs me the way it did the first time. In 1967 I had an apartment very near where Bullitt's is and I love all the scenes of San Francisco throughout the movie. It still has a simple realism that captures you. Current movies could learn from it that less is more. Everyone mentions the chase scene, but I think the airport scene is great too. The jet taking off on top of Bullitt, the shooting of Ross, and the very real reaction of the ordinary people at the airport to the shooting. I will watch over and over again.

Summary: Good buy at 13.99
Review: This is a good DVD to purchase at 13.99. It will make you appreciate that you are living and watching movies in the 90's and 00's. Pay particular attention to the car chase. It is amazing. There is blue VW beetle in every corner of San Fransisco, and not a single cop in the entire city. The ending is also surprising. I guess back in 1968 people could check into a Pan Am International flight with a hand gun as big as a cannon. After all this not such a bad movie. The picture and sound quality of the DVD is mediocre, but still a good buy at 13.99 USD.

Summary: Bullitt's car chase scene is unequaled!
Review: Whether you like cars or not, the car chase scene in Bullitt will simply take your breath away. It is several minutes long and there is no sound but the squealing of tires and roaring of engines. Awesome. Mustang fans are rabid for this scene.

Summary: Its Quiet, Its Brooding, Its Mc Queen All the way
Review: When I first saw Bullitt in 68, I didn't have a clue about the plot. I just waited to see the car chase. Seeing it now, Especially being a San Franciscan, Made it a real Classic. The Jazz, Enricos Restraunt, The embarcadero freeway, All brought back memories of an earlier time. The best part besides the chase is the cinematography and Dialog. Sparse, Obtuse, Very fitting for the time in SF. It's nice when a film tells a story quietly and Steve Ma Queen is King. Also, this was the first time that a detective is in fashonable clothes. In fact Keven Costner credits a lot of his style to Steve Mc Queen's Characturiaztion of Bullitt. If that doesn't get you then the Camera scenes from inside the cars going down Hyde street will make your stomach rumble. See it on a Big Screen

Summary: BULLITT, a great movie of the 60's
Review: Steve McQueen is really a good actor!... Great car chase with wonderful effects, with music to hear the cars sounds. A classic.

Summary: Still a classic...
Review: Few people who see this movie for the first time understand the profound impact it had when it came out. While modern day crime dramas are filled with gratuitous, numbing violence, the reality of this movie was a real breakthrough. The famous car chase may be the thiing that brings people back to "Bullitt" but the gritty realism is what makes this a classic. The only movie of that time which matched it for realism may have been "The Detectives". This movie really changed filmmaking. When I saw this movie in 1968, five people fainted in the theatre during the scene where the killers broke into the hotel room to murder the potential witness. There is also the fine performance of Robert Vaughn as a politician whose murdered star witness was his mealticket. Vaughn is noted as the consummate Hollywood liberal, and his portrayal of this self-serving scumbag is perfect.

Summary: The car chase was good for its time.
Review: Steve McQueen portrays Bullitt, a stiff-nosed cop who is assigned to protect a gangster. It was a good movie, but the performances were stale. However, the plot remains fresh. Entertaining shoot-em-up...detective style!

Summary: AWESOME CAR CHASE! Pretty good movie.
Review: This is the first time I have ever seen this flick, and it definetley lives up to all the praise I have read about it. McQueen is very very cool in this film. I have to say that the car chase is an absolute hoot! To think that they were really driving down the streets of San Fran at more than 115 mph!!! It was indeed a great car chase, and has obviously served as a blueprint for all future car chases to come. While it's true that the car chase is a little tame by todays standards ("Ronin" raised the bar in car chases in my opinion) it still packs a mighty wallop. As for the rest of the movie it was fun and had a great cast (Robert Vaughn was terrific!), but it was a pretty standard story with nothing paritcularly original about it. No big deal though, I had a great time watching this film, and that's all that matters. The DVD edition is handled very well, with several fun little extras thrown in (including a cheesy little featurete from '68.) The picture and sound are terrific and sharp. A great buy!
