Summary: A winner
Review: I confess that when I went to see Joneah I was the only adult in the theater unaccompanied by children. I went to the late show thinking it would be less crowded than the packed earlier sessions and wanting to see the movie I had heard so much about. The music is spectacular, the story line riveting and humorous and the characters well developed. I am encouraging everyone, not only those with children, to see this movie. There is so much talent in the writing and production teams that I kept wondering throughout how they came up with such ideas. I highly recommend this film to everyone--not just children.

Summary: My kids were bored.
Review: The movie that my kids saw before this was Ice Age. That one they enjoyed immensely. Jonah kept them interested for less than an hour of its running time.

Summary: The Movie that doesn't do anything?
Review: My kids have been long-term fans of Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber, so of course we had to go see Jonah: A Veggie Tales Movie when it hit the theaters. In this film, Jonah is played by a stalk of asparagus sporting a monocle and a ridiculously high-pitched British accent. He is sent to warn the evil denizens of the city of Ninevah of divine retribution if they do not halt their unrestrained fish-slapping (don't ask). Jonah is transported to Ninevah in a ship crewed by that Veggie Tales staple, The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything. He also gets a side-kick, a little Arab worm who listens to motivational tapes. Is this funny? Sometimes. Inspirational? I guess so, but the moral of the original story kind of gets lost in the cheese curls.

The Veggie Tales folks seem hemmed in here by the conventions of the story and the need to stretch their concepts to fill a feature-length film. If you want to see them at their best, rent "Madame Blueberry." That episode, while ostensibly tied to the French novel "Madame Bovary," feels no compunction about departing from its source material into unrestrained silliness. The result is imagination run riot, and even the moral (don't be a greedy consumerist) comes through loud and clear. It's a welcome contrast to this sometimes rambling movie.

Summary: At times...very difficult to watch
Review: Ok, I'm not Christian, and that's the big problem. If you aren't a Christian, or at least God believing, you are not going to like this movie, and I didn't. The whole movie felt like a long sermon, where I was at times being bombarded with the Bible.

If that kind of a movie would be appealing to you, then you should go watch this Veggie movie. If, like me, you find this painful to endure, then I'd stay away.

Summary: At Last in the east. At last for my family
Review: We in the East had to wait an extra week for this movie and it was well worth it.

The plot was well done, the songs were very plesant, and the lesson was well taught. (The method of proving Jonah was in the Belly of the whale was worth the price alone.)

The fact that the story didn't compromise the fact that Jonah himself still does't get it at the end make its point even stronger. The lesson is more important than the standard rules of kids movies.

It is interesting to note that as of Today Jonah is beating both Michael Moore and Madona's new picture, who says that virtue doesn't sell?

The one complaint that can be made about this movie is the quality of the graphics compared to other animated features, however this picture has nothing like the budgets of those others and it still flows fine.

This is no movie classic, but it is a classic children's movie with all the right messages for them. Take you kids to this one, twice!

Summary: Excellent Veggietales Adventure
Review: We are the Pirates who don't do anything. That was a line from the movie. I heard of that song before. I thought that movie was funny. My favorite part was when Jonah was when the Ninevitas got blown up and when Jonah was going la la la la la la la la la la. I also like the part is when the Ninevitas became nice. I thought the previews I was going to see were The Wild Thornberrys Movie, The Santa Clause 2, Treasure Planet, Jungle Book 2, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Adam Sandler's Eight Crazy Nights. I really think that Caliou the Catterpialler was so cute. I saw a preview for that movie when I saw Hey Arnold! the movie. I will definlty by the movie on DVD.

Summary: Wonderful family film
Review: This is just what I have been looking for,a movie my 5 year old can watch and I can also enjoy. Nothing in movie is objectionable and you learn something valuable. About time something like Jonah came to the big screen. Disney movies used to be the standard for kid friendly but BIG IDEA is the new Disney of our times. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone with children ages 3 - 8 and also anyone who would like to see a movie with healthy morals.

Summary: The Veggies are Here! FINALLY!!
Review: ...kudos to Phil and Mike of Big Idea for making the big idea possible...Anyways, this film is for all kids, from the kids of mind to the kids of heart...story's really good, I mean above VeggieTales-expectation good. And that's according to the fact that they made one of the shortest books in the Bible go on for 83 minutes. They admitted somewhere that they actually added scenes into the movie to make it run longer. Sad to say, I think I can tell what those scenes are...

This show I can see playing in theaters long after the DVDs have been stocked off the shelves. ...
